Wicked dude....don't mind the gizas who say 'lack of emotion'. You know how it feels to you....bet you they can't rip shit up like that either :p Gpt me laughing it was that quick so that's emotion right there.
@MrFou72 I didn't play it originally... Hadrien did... so the lack of emotion you mention came from him, not me. I just transcribed it and attempted to play it.
Yessir The best of this generation man by far! Only second to Justyn Lawrence lol that guy rips so hard on bass, he comes to the gigs with a set of drums lol jk
Great playing Tim...!! I think is good for everybody to know that this wood ramp containg the pickups was invented by a bass player from my country (Chile) about ten years ago. His name is Igor Saavedra and he's one of the Bass Musician Magazine staff writers and one of the main endorsees of Nordstrand pickups which is the pickups brand you use.... Cheers..!!
Hey there. Yes i know of Igor. I am on staff at BMM as well. It is a great online resource. The use of this particular ramp was inspired by Gary Willis and Matthew Garrison, however, it is flat... not radiused. The design is similar to Igor's. This one was inspired by a Nordstrand Bass. And yes, i also use nordstrand pickups. best pickups out there.
Sure Tim, in fact Igor on his sites says that he took the idea from the willis ramp and that when he met gary he told him about his idea of placing the mics inside the ramp and make it height adjustable. The first prototypes were done by Igor on 1995. He uses a flat fingerboard so his ramp has been always flat. Then he showed this ramp to nordstrand guitars. Stew Mckinsey is a great friend of him and he saw the ramp for the first time on 2001 at a NAMM show were Igor was performing.
Superb playing man! I use that playing posture too. Love the look and tone of your bass, the final section , you used your thumb aswell as 2fingers? What make is your bass? More videos please!
yup. two fingers and thumb on the last descending line. the bass is a custom CB bass by Cliff Bordwell. Check him out. He makes some killer basses. I got a fretless coming from him soon. more vids to come.
hey man i get u! there's nothing wrong with studying other people's stuff, you learn many styles of play to create your own...and besides, i heard Hadrien learned everything Jaco VERBATIM when he was starting!!! look where it got him. We evolve off of each other! Great job man sounds great
play like your self man ; hadrien is my friend , just take time for your music because iff you rets in this kind of shit plagio , the world dont ned'nt you!!just play your style and make respect with outhers player's
I completely understand and I do play like my self... usually 3-4 nights a week. I made respect with Hadrien's playing by taking the time to learn to play his stuff. Part of finding your own voice is learning thru transcribing others. All the great musicians do it... do you?
I understand what you're asaying but you're missing the true essense of jazz! The whole UK Jazz movement started with our players copying the the bebop tunes of the likes of Charlie Parker and Dizzy, Hadrien himself copied Jaco note for note in the early days. We learn to speak by listening to others.
As far as I know there are no transcriptions of Hadrien's stuff in sheet music. Just dig into the records and learn it by ear. I am pretty sure I heard even he doesn't read music.
really?! That would be amazing to be honest, lol. Anytime I see people of that skill I kind of automatically assume that they know music XD. Fantastic playing by the way.
I think you can find them at musiciansfriend. Great little tool for transcribing. I just started learning some of his easier solos and progressed to the lightning fast stuff. It is a great test of your chops.
I have been playing for around 12 years and am from Chicago
I just learned it on my tascam bass trainer by slowing it down to learn all the licks correctly note for note. Then I just worked it up to speed until i could (almost) play it. It took a couple weeks. I had to come up with the perfect fingerings to play at this speed.

Two questions:
1. Are you using your thumb other than at the end of the solo?
2. Do you have a transcription of this possibly? I can't figure it out, much less the actual changes he's playing over.
DrPylons 1 year ago
@DrPylons yes I am using my thumb for the last run. No I don't have a sheet on it. sorry

is that one fucking massive pickup in the middle there?
Whathuhwhowhere 2 years ago
@Whathuhwhowhere
Actually two nordstrand dual coil pickups under one big wood cover.
timseisser 2 years ago
i really like your technique. you seem to get a lot of notes with very little motion in your left hand.
ChildofDust6969 2 years ago
@ChildofDust6969 raking technique i suppose. And in the end it might be double-thumb?
Astrokratov 2 years ago
very matt garrison towards the end but matt uses thumb-index-middle-ring in that order repeatedly to get that busy-bee sound
okicu 2 years ago
@okicu
Actually at the end i just use thumb, index, middle. I never could get the third finger in there comfortably.

HammondB200 2 years ago
Nope. Just a nice block of zebrawood over 2 nordstrand dual coils pickups.
timseisser 2 years ago
How is it that the wood won't interfere with the electronics
HammondB200 2 years ago
The wood isn't thick enough to cause any interference with the magnetic relationship between the strings and pickups

magnetic relationship; nicely said
