haha, Steven,I traced you after 蜗居。I really love “Mark" you performed. So gentleman and so real, esp. the part of "learning Chinese". BTW, i saw your picture with my friend on her facebook. She told me you were colleagues . Nice to watch your english programme here.
@fionaxh Thanks for finding me and watching my videos. You know I really did learn a lot of Chinese acting in 蜗居?! That's why the director cast me -- because he said my Chinese wasn't very good, ha ha. Connect on Facebook, too.
shopping for pearls is my favorite thing to do in Shanghai. Although I've never been to the Hong Qiao market. I always go to the one near the Yuyuan Gardens.
@sdweathers hard to say. you definitely have to brush up on your bargaining skills. I was just there yesterday. I mostly like that the salespeople are actually nice and not forcing me to do anything.
I've noticed that you do not usually bargain. The only time I noticed is on the western cooking where the meat was too expensive. Is this common for you or are prices listed after negotiations? Thanks for ur vids, J
I do bargain a ton in China. What I did with these videos of the three markets was to price-line the best bargains I could get and give others an idea of a fair price. Do a google search for a blog interview I recently gave on a web site called the lost laowai. (YouTube won't let us post links here). On that interview, I explain my bargaining tactics.

@Xiantez You're welcome! My goal was to baseline the prices (tho it made many vendors in Shanghai & Beijing very angry!).
