yes we are lucky....they come to the capital city of romania (bucharest) and I can't wait to see them :D I heard that there are also people from polland and hungary that come to bucharest on 20 december ^_^
people hardly ever agree on youtube..............visual kei is awesome. it doesn't really matter where it started...........would it become any better if X-Japan started it? or anyone else? it shouldn't matter who started it........but people like to argue.
Visual kei is awesome.......no matter who started it and it will continue to be......hopefully
i'm talking about the origin of glam rock worldwide. x-japan is just one of the first visual kei groups that branched off the muthufuker. and that muthufuker davied bowie was the root of it all. yea yo niggaz like to deny it 'cuz he's an ugly fuck way then.
um no. actually it was stared by the great X-Japan or simply "X". They were the first band to actually use make-up and costumes to excentrate their music.
hell yea! isnt tokio hotel american? they are not visual kei at all? not that american bands can't be visual kei, im sure they can be, ive never seen one but its not impossible.
WTF, why's everyone talking about Tokio Hotel? O___Ô
They have N O T H I N G to do with Visual Kei. Many people here in Germany might think that, but it's absolutely stupid. As Omnisoldier said, Visual Kei was born in the 80's and Tokio Hotel are from 2005 -.-
it's not just the fact that they are from 2005, the band members themselves are far from VK, not to mention the musical style, they play Pop and Teen Rock...seriously.....
THANK YOU!! and yes i agree with you they din't come from tokio hotel ........tokio hotel in my opinion doesn't come close to visual kei the lead singer barely comes close
I believe the female looking thing just came about through experiments with Visual Kei, If this is the case then bands like X Japan and others around that time are to credited as they were within the first few to adapt Visual Kei.
the reason vk artist look like girls, is because back before anyone knew about japan, when japan was isolated, if a man could pull off looking like a woman then they were highly respected and now in day's it is still the same crossdressing and actually looking like the other sex is considered very "high class".
In Japan, most "ordinary people" think of Visual kei/Crossdressing like something very gross, It's not at all respected amongst ordinary citizens, You could say It's like "Emo" here in the west-world, not because the music sounds alike at all or is connected in any way, but "ordinary people" dislike it mostly...
And I'm not saying this because I dislike Visual kei , I infact think It's cool.
Just want to give you some perspective...
Japanese people in general doesn't respect crossdressing....
umm do dude, mana sama is praised in japan, my friends church had a youth group exchange group, and me and my friend love VK so we talked to him alot about vk and he told that that was the reason they look like women cause it is highly respected.
Of course he's very respected by people that like Visual kei, like you and me for example. I've lived in Japan for 6 years, most girls that I've met during my schooldays and on my freetime, trust me, they don't dig VK at all, they're kinda grossed out about people like Mana, and other men wearing a dress.,
So.. my point was... It's not at all respected amongst the ordinary Japanese person..., It's like..., It's not anymore respected to Crossdress/Dress Visual kei, then it is in any other country.
Then again, I have some friends that hang out in harajuku every sunday with their cosplaying and VK-stuff... that likes and respects the VK-artists and their feminine styles, Like Mana's for example.
But then again, It's quite given that they do... Since they are fans of him and they are Vk'ers themselves.
Again...,Just to give you some real perspective of how things actually are....
I agree. finally! someone that likes visual kei but knows reality. I know many japanese ppl and they don't like visual kei either. while vk seems big, its not a huuge thing yet. the average joe walking down the street don't even know what it is.
@JrockFTW22 and also the fact that its nice when guys take care of them self and have a sense of fashion thats cute or interesting :) I can see why they do it
That is so horribly misinformed I just had to post a response. It's true that male kabuki actors who specialized in female roles (called "onnagata") were respected, but it doesn't translate to musicians being considered "high class" for crossdressing. In fact, unless it's for high art purposes like kabuki it's considered just as weird as it is anywhere else. The visual kei aesthetic became what it is for many reasons, mostly due to trends in fashion and influence from abroad.
It's the same the reason why the main charcaters for RPGs look half boy and half girl. Japan likes this sort of stuff as in Japan effeminate guys are considered to be hot. You should look up a guy called Gackt.
That's how you distinguish the difference between the uniqueness of J-Rock and all other ordinary genres :]... It creates fantasy through their image and their songs like no others.
Also, to Lizzzard, I don't mind scene kids as long as they aren't being attention whores (although that's kind of hard to do because being "scene" kind of automatically makes you an attention whore)

Jeez, why does everyone insist on arguing over meaningless issues.
Visual kei is what it is. You want visual kei well here it is.
It's one big cycle of influences and mixed cultures. Music is music; no matter the language.
The best bands ever were Baiser, DAS:VASSER, Luna Sea, and Janne da Arc.
