Charles napier did the growls for the hulk also did guest spot during the years and in the incredible hulk returns tv movie. Very good actor. Was in silence of the lambs and philladephia
Ted Cassidy (also known as Lurch the butler from the 1960's The Adams Family) narrated the openingstheme from the TV serie The Incredible Hulk. He also provided the Hulk's growls and roars. Ted Cassidy suffered from health issues as he grew older and died in 1979 at the age of 46 from complications following open-heart surgery. R.I. P. Ted Cassidy aged 46 R.I.P. Bill Bixby aged 59 R.I.P. Jack Colvin aged 71
I though the real name of the Incrediblre Hulk was David Banner for years, but seeing the movies I realized it was Bruce Banner, not David. Why the TV series put the name David instead of Bruce like the movies and the original comics?
@Margui622 Because the series was done in a different way and the show creator tried to distance it as much as possible from the comics and make a serious adventure, drama out of it instead of a comic book brought to television. The 03 and 08 movies relates closer to comics. The tv series stands apart on its own and was taken seriously.
LOL at him changing into the hulk just because he hurt himself changing a flat tire! He then goes on to flip the car over! Even as a kid i always found that hilarious!
Yep. He was angry because he thought his experiment with the gamma rays hadn't worked....then the rain, the storm, and the flat tire. And when he finally smashed his hand the second time, that was the catalyst that set off the first metamorphosis.
@knightryderrwn No, I was replying to 73dodge who was making a joke out of it, LOL! I just did not go into all the detail like you did. No big deal. I am a die hard fan of Hulk tv series ever since it first came out.
So was I -- in fact, I think the series spawned what is (still) the *BIGGEST* understatement ever made in episodic television --
"Mr. McGee, **DON'T** make me angry. **YOU WOULDN'T LIKE ME** when I'm angry!!" In fact....I once imagined this conversation between Banner and McGee --
McGee -- Well, Banner, you were right about something you once told me.
@knightryderrwn The funny thing was Mcghee never connected the dots and realized Banner was the Hulk. The only finale we got was the Death of The Hulk tv movie which to me was not a proper finale and had no closure for Mcghee character. A proper tv series finale would have been Banner being found out by Mcghee, Banner cleared of any wrong doing and being cured so he could finally enjoy a normal life. Got 3 episodes posted if you are interested.
I'll certainly look at them. Yeah, I was always surprised McGee could never figure out that Banner was the Hulk....and you're right...Death of the Incredible Hulk was a HUGE disappointment....I would have loved your idea (Banner found out, cleared, and cured) for a series finale. Too bad we never got it. :(
@knightryderrwn Another thing that pissed me off is season 5 only had 7 episodes. Universal could have at least finished out the 5th season with the usual 22 episodes a season, but they just cut it off. I have read about some unfilmed scripts that were never done that sounded pretty good. One inparticular called "Trial of Jack Mchgee" where Mcghee is accused of murder and Banner knows the truth and has to prove Mcghee's innocense without being discovered. That story always intrigued me. What If?
THat would have been interesting....yeah, "What if?" I actually envisioned this conversation between Banner and McGee (assuming McGee knows Banner is the one who changes into the Hulk, etc.):
McGee -- Banner, you were right about something you once told me.
@SwordGames You fail because the effects for this time period were the best of the decade, so shut up. Beside Lou Ferrigno is the best Hulk EVER. Fuck the CGI Hulks I personally prefer the Hulk did by a REAL person.
@TheWereCreaturesDen Got some (bad) news for you, I found out or just learned that the Lou Ferrigno/Bill Bixby-era Incredible Hulk IS or MIGHT BE due in for a REMAKE :(!
I am totally turned off by the new movies. This show was one of my favorites growing up and now I've started collecting the dvds of each season. I'll watch them over the movies anyday.
The iconic intro's for 'The Incredidble Hulk' & 'The Six Million Dollar Man' have never been matched since, despite all the advancements of modern TV technology. I'm in my late 30's now, yet these TV series are still two of my all-time favourites. Anyone who isn't moved by the meloncholic 'Lonely Man' end-theme of 'The Incredible Hulk' doesn't deserve to watch TV. Much respect to the late Bill Bixby & the mighty Lou Ferrigno. You will never be forgotten.
Agree, it works because these shows were more about the human element and emotions. Now its all about crazy matrix like stuff now. I hated the ending to IH because it was so depressing, even when in preschool I knew when he was walking over to his and his late wifes tombstone that it was something deep. Being 5 i didnt really comprehend it totally but had a vague idea
Late wifes tombstone? I think you mean his college Dr. Elaina Marks. The two weren't married, but she did love him. And admitted it when he was the creature. LOL
Lurch from the 60's Addams Family. Second Bigfoot on Six Million Dollar Man, The narrator you hear on this vid and also the voice of Hulk's growls and roars.
i used to be terrified of this, i used to hide behind the sofa as soon as the theme tune started, even watching it tonight gave me a wee shiver!! same as michael jacksons thriller, scared me silly!!
You know , I remember as a kid being a little scared of the show and this sort of chilly , suspenseful theme myself. Especially in the darker early yrs.
@lauradougmeg: LOL. I did the EXACT same thing! I was born in '77, so I was only 5 or 6 years old when I'd first see this. I could handle Hulk once he was transformed, but it was the transition - and ESPECIALLY David Banner's eyes (when they'd change) that freaked me out!!! I am so smiling that you wrote that, Laura.
@lauradougmeg it was shown in our country in the early eighties. I was four and I remember crying whenever I see the opening theme on tv because I knew the big green man is coming. :) :) My parents were telling me though he is good but as a kid I was just scared. Wish I could watch reruns of this show now that I'm a grown-up. :)
Ronnie McDo don't make me hungry. you wouldn't like me when i'm hungry!!! lol kidding aside, it's sad coz i heard that Bill Bixby of this classic Hulk series died of cancer many years back....
I agree "Death In The Family" was the first and only episode to show this rare intro. First there was the Hulk movie pilot. Then they made a second Hulk tv movie with "Death In The Family". However back when it originally aired, TV Guide billed "Death In The Family" as "The Return Of The Incredible Hulk". (Long before they decided to do that other verson with Thor.) Then after "Death In The Family" became another hit then they started to do The Hulk weekly series.
