  • When the CD came out and they had omitted this rendition for another less focused version I was PO'd. Even w/o Duane Allman's incendiary guitar playing as on the original, this is my favorite. I like the switch to major 7th chords on the chorus and jam out at the end of the song. And yes. Prayers for Jim Gordon.

  • I can tell it is right off the vinyl . It doesn't have the harshness of the remasterd digital fornication. I would listen to this with my dynaco Amps cranked up till it rattled the windows when i was a teenager. 200 watts of Kt88 power just like it was meant to be. Like being in the front row. Listen to Gordon tappa tappa tappin on the hides. Carl pullin on the strings and Derek pickin and Witlock singingand playin keys.

^^ jmo the best available live version of this song, although the sq isn't as clear as others.

  • PS And say a prayer for the great Jim Gordon.

  • This is THE definitive version. Incredibly, the idiot record company replaced this with another version on the reissue D&D Live. SACRILEGE!

  • @602davido AGREED... The D&D Live version stinks!

  • @JFDG54

Maybe so, but the most complete and tightest version is live @ electric factory, jmo. I like this one too but they're a little sloppy and sluggish.

  • best EC ever played, PERIOD!

  • Hey man - so stoned, so exhausted, so sensitive and eight miles high - you touch down with your best guitar I`ve heard, with your biggest emotion and dreams you`ve ever played - thanx I ´m a believer....

  • His best by far. In my humble opinion!

    Thanks for putting it up!

  • I love the way you just put it on and walked away -----thanks

  • Clapton Is God

  • @speedytoo. No God is Clapton he he

  • @stepenwolf7 one and that is Clapton himself--if people thought in them days he was a god today we see things different --there are so many gods in the music world................

  • @MultiShades I was trying to make a joke of the whole Clapton is God thing. I am old enough to have seen the graffiti on the walls of London. I believe that Eric didnt like the whole episode either. Peace

  • @stepenwolf7 just chat no deal --peace

  • This is it

  • I have loved this version of this song all my life. I had the original vinyl LP that I bought at the grocery store bargin bin for $5.99 back in the '70s. I sold my record collection along with my turntable and I've been missing it ever since. I've listened to all the other version fo this song but none of them have the punch that this one does. You can hear the Allman influence is all over this. Thanks for posting.

  • won't you take me to : Solo Town???

  • I've been listening to this version since 1972. I've always thought this is one of the finest solos of E. C. Very funky, full of swing, with great ideas and passion. Astonishing licks, sometimes a la Chuck Berry. Amazing musical logic. Okay, that's Clapton!!! But, have you listened to Jim Gordon? I'm crazy about him. One of the greatest of all. Second to none.

  • @MrRcurrent

    Swinging 16th notes, always a great workout/warmup

  • @PositivelyBored

Yeahhhh! I play the guitar. I've got a great sunburst Strat. Eric has always been my inspiration.

  • @MrRcurrent

This is by far his best work, imo

  • love this song. can u please post let it rain on this album

  • Fantastic. Love this song from this album. Other versions very different when they remixed the track.

  • One of Clapton's greatest solos. Influenced strongly by Duane's studio version. Do not remove this comment unless you want to explain why.

  • very nice

  • I think the best he's ever done!

  • This recording represents the peak of Eric Clapton's career. It was all uphill to this point and all downhill beyond. Bobby Whitlock was his perfect complement. Too bad they collaborated for such a short time.

  • the solo is a wow

    amazing

  • Thanks arrebatosblog, I had forgotten how good this version was,

the best intro, love it. My vinyl became "clicky" and "scratchy" many years ago, now dusty in the attic. Maybe I'll feed it into the PC, and try some Audacity on it.

  • Definitely has the tighter, soaring solo.

  • this record was the original fillmore release. i think this the better version of the two releases

  • So great to hear another version from the Fillmore stand

  • good shit
