No wonder, this was done in 1991 - Andy Martin is killin'! He's probably around 28 years old in this video. Bob's in his 40s here... Charlie Shoemake's 56 or so ?
Trumpets = Carl Saunders (lead), Bob Summers (to Carl's right), Chuck Findley, and Tony Lujan. Dig Bruce Lett on bass and Rich Eames on piano...for that matter, everybody in the band!
I am the main cameraman and director of this video. The whole shoot was totally winged no script so it wasn't real easy to get the right player on screen at the right time. We did the best we could under the circumstances.
Amen to the Andy Martin praise. Is that Jeff Hamilton on drums? The whole band is just scary good, as is evident. Willis is the master of expanding a theme.
That's Andy Martin taking the trombone solo. I don't know why they didn't flash his name up on the screen! Andy's one of this town's (L.A.) greatest trombone players!
Andy Martin was the guest artist for my schools end of the year jazz concert two years ago. One of the only trumbone players i ever heard who can keep up with the dexterity of a sax player. he kicks ass
This how it's suppose to be done.

Looks like Pete Christlieb on tenor? Geez. And Andy's solo - fuggettaboutit.

this is cool. wearing a striped shirt must've been a prerequisite for being in the trombone section that day

I wish the camerman had shown the phenomenal trumpets more. Bobby Findley (?) and who else?
