I hated the opening credits. All that represented wealth and glamour in past seasons now has gone. Plus Matthew's return? Really? It would have served a purpose when Claudia was alive.
Oh right, I forgot that by this season, The Colbys had been cxled, and that's why Jeff & Fallon are back (post Fallon's alien abduction). This might also explain why so many characters from S7 were axed, to make room in the budget for Jeff & Fallon to return.
Blake playing tennis! Jeff on the phone! Adam lifting weights! Dex looking at the floor while walking towards the camera! Dynasty used to have such an aura of glamour to it; what the devil happened? (to borrow a phrase from Blake)
poor storyline, the guy who rescued alexis is to be the son of joseph who came to denver to revenge his father, but what is beyond my understanding is that if he is there to revenge his father by killing alexis why did he rescue her? lack of creativity
Car going over the bridge with Alexis (the old Buick) is actually a scene taken from the 80's flim "bodysnatchers" with Meg Tilly. I also recognize a plane crash in another episode of Dynasty where a plane hits a mountainside; this secen is from the movie "Sweet Dreams - Life of Pasty Cline". Don't know why I notice these things..but I do!

...and i cant believe Matthew would think to ask about Fallon, but yet not a word about Claudia! BAD writting And he got all pissed off at Claudia for being with Steven, yet while she was in the hospital, he cheated on her with Krystal WTF?
@smck2009 Claudia was only identified by her wedding ring, not dental records or DNA or anything substantial. I think they were leaving it open for her to come back
Season 1 was far from boring, and dare I say, was actually the best written and most character driven season of the entire series.
Season 1 may have lacked the campy extremes of the rest of the series, but it was a far more interesting character study. That's why it's sad that they ruined the Matthew Blaisdel character in season 8.
In fact, I believe the only other seasons to be of any quality at all were 2 and 9. They had the propper balance of camp and logic.
Although I quiet liked this storyline, I was dissapointmented that they brought Mathew back from the dead (as they did Fallon). Surely they could have introduced another characher, perhaps an old enenmy of the Carringtons.
I didn't like that they made Matthew a bad guy. Was Matthew the right person to bring back in such a role to boost ratings? He hadn't appeared in Denver since Alexis entered the scene and the viewership expanded (and contracted) in that time.
And...I think the cliffhanger might have been better if they didn't reveal who it was that "came back from the dead"...Is it Matthew? Cecil Colby? Mark Jennings? Daniel Reece...errr, ok, not him. Lady Ashley? Claudia? And a voiceover like on "Soap". ; )
i agree with that bringing matthew back after all these years was senseless Cecil Colby wouldve been better mark fell from a building Lady Ashley yes we never saw her body or death same to cluadia, although why didnt they just bring back the blaisdel clan
This episode is the first time the opening credits used the screen caps of the actors in action. Prior to this, the opening had some kind of scenery associated with the character.
This is actually when I saw Dynasty going back to the quality show it was from Season 1-3. Blake was becoming morally ambiguous again, Steven being the one to kill Matthew was perfect, and his guilt over it was tremendous acting. It started to slowly become character based again.
but..but...matthew was dead :O

If seans sole mission was to kill Alexis, why didn't he let her drown.
This episode and the next were two of the most boring ever.

@MrVidiofan Actually, that film was made in '93, long after this episode was shot. Perhaps they used this scene in the film.

What's with all the pan pipe incidental music for the siege scenes? It sounds like jungle music.

the title cards for the characters in season 8 were horrid. its a shame that claudia wasnt here to see the return of her ex.

Claudia being present would have been the one reason and one reason alone to bring back Matthew. Otherwise nope he should have stayed "dead"
