  • The blue EMD looking unit at 7:30 sparks my interest.

  • Heck of a zoom on that camera. Cops ever bother you out on this bridge?

  • lol u seen his supervisor pull up and watch him in the van at the beginging

  • conrail at 1:36!

  • what was that blue engine in the background at 7 : 31 ?

  • is this Galesburg

  • That should be "Windy Afternoon On he Bridge At BNSF's Galesburg Classification Yard." ;-) I've taken a real interest in Galesburg lately. Between Mark Loewe's great Galesburg Terminal ATCS kit, the Galesburg Railroad Museum webcam and the audio feed on RadioReference, I've been having a blast railfanning from my desk at home. It really does look like it was slow that day compared to what I've been hearing and seeing lately. It also seems to me that the Chillicothe sees more traffic.

  • Great video

  • What is ample parking?

  • @TheRickRod There are wide shoulders on both sides of the bridge. I would almost call it a 4-lane bridge. ( the road leading to it is 2-lane.) Plenty of room to park safely on the bridge, get out of your vehicle and take pictures. One of my favorite train watching spots!

  • @qwedrtgy Great. thanks yeah me and my fam parked many times on those to takes pics of the states.

  • nice prospective on trainwatching. can see a lot from that view.

  • Nice vid! I love watching those yard movements! Im also going to the BNSF yard in Pasco, WA!:)

  • Hy from France, Frank. 5 * for you vid. A question? Is Galesburg (Il) bigger than Bailey Yard at North Platte (Ne)?

  • @herodezessy no way!!

  • Happy to see some of my hometown action!

  • i wish i could come to galesburg. even in the recesion its crawling with good power lashups in use. good job man

  • Just little ole Galesburg.....

  • Frank, what SD70ACe unit is that at 8:13 ? It's blue!

  • It prolly was a former EMD Demo.

  • Baby blue EMD? Doesn't seem plausable.

  • beautiful footage what a fun place. i woulda chased the warbonnet and csx units though. but nice vid. great color sound quality

  • Very interisting Video. That SD70MAC looks beat up from above. ANd lots of "Cool" Power located there.

  • Great mix of power and job duties. I wish I had a yard that big here to watch I'd pay them to rent me a room.

  • Great video its so amazing that they take all those cars in a seeming mess and make trains work from them.

  • be careful the police will get on your ass about being parked for some reason

  • Man I want to go on this bridge one day;

  • lots of power.

  • wow nice shot and lots of locomotive power bnsf conrail norfolk southern locomotive and csx santa fe and BN

  • Hi Frank

Great VIDS. Great Action.Like to see more Galesburgh Hump action if poss.

  • the blue sd70Ace im thinking is the heritage unit.

  • not a heritage unit. the UP would NEVER let another class 1 use a heritage unit. Plus it is too obvious by the scheme it is not.

  • NS, CSX, & BNSF

    UP has "given" them to those railroads 1982, 1988, 1995, 1996, & 4141 :P

  • lol no. UP loves the heritage units so much.

  • Kinda looks like one of the CEFX SD70M-2s, but the white in the middle is throwing me off. Need a better close up look.

  • Thats an EMD Demo SD70M-2

  • Hi Frank. Great vid.

Does you or anybody else know what the flatcars at 4:44-6:44 are made for? hwat is the purpose of the jig?

    Peter

  • They look like they are the cars that carry Ribbon Rail. (Continuois welded rail)

  • Great Video Frank. It really cpatures the essen of Yard work. Love it.

  • Lucky man! I've been curious with that area ever since I first saw It on Amtrak.

  • awesome!!
