  • classic LP

  • 23 years ago huffing butane and listening to this amazing album. Its still amazing even without the butane.

  • Lark's Tongues in Aspic pt II anyone?

  • An Endless Sporadic kind of ripped off this song with their song "Impulse". The riff at 1:20 ish is what I'm talking about.

  • never bored listening this after 20 years

  • This sounds like DC bands like Shudder to Think as much as it does metal, which is GREAT

  • @Jamesp1972 it only sounds like shudder 2 think, with some of the discordant guitar chords played, and maybe the higher register of the vocals..craig werdren has a much higher range than snake, both are geniuses

  • this is so beautiful

  • Amazing album. Seen them on this tour w/ faith no more and soungarden. Those were great days!! Unfortunately I lost the cd years ago. Sucks big time!

  • @cpm72 Saw them in NYC same tour. went to seen them..and was not dissapointed...unbelievable!!

  • @clare0holden this album was in the top 100 canadian albums of all time book so it cant be the most underrated. also its the most viewed album by voivod on youtube

i think the outer limits or rrroooaaarrr are more underrated but idk what everyone else would say thats just my opinion

  • @ApostolZaRodinu i got a new friend :D

  • Probably the most underrated album of all time. Pure marvel.

  • I fucking love this song...

  • Dream Theater, great progressive metal!!?? The band that can turn *EVERYTHING* into a guitar masturbation that would make Yngwie embarrassed. The only thing "great" about Dream Theater is the giggling fit I get when I imagine them playing "Mary Had a Little Lamb" with the 35 minute guitar solo, where the keyboard player spins his keyboards (metal keyboards is another joke, but I digress) and the vocalist disappears...

  • @casador190 BWAAAA HA HA!! I don't mind DT, but that was fucking hilarious....

  • so glad i never became a pretentious prog metal douchebag and am still able to enjoy this album and this band.

  • @kadmos1313 Ya. I know people that are pretentious prog heads and HATE Thrash Metal. Funny that Prog Metal was invented by bands like Watchtower and Voivod - Thrash bands. It's actually kind of depressing.

  • @kadmos1313 Little confused here....this is pretty prog metal

  • @citizen773 Actually, VoiVod were experimenting with progressive/punk/thrash in '87 when DT were still trying to get their shit together, playing local shows and sucking dick for rent money. Do yourself a favour and actually LISTEN to a band before you open your stupid fucking mouth and make yourself look like an idiot.

  • @deathbox75 just because they did it first doesn't mean they're the best

  • @citizen773 Never said they were. But it seems like every prog fanboy wannabe cites Dream Theater and Fates Warning when they wanna shit on any other band. I don't care how good Petrucci is; they're boring. You want real progressive metal? Listen to Watchtower - These guys created the blueprint that bands like DT, Athiest, Cynic, and pretty much any other technical metal band drew inspiration from.

  • @citizen773 unoriginal? listen to dimension hatross and tell me THAT is unoriginal and then i can safely call you a total retard

  • @666fuckoffandie i fucked ur mom last night

  • @citizen773 leave it to a twelve year old to have a shitty comeback

  • This was my first Voivod album. I bought it back in high school (Probably 8 years ago). Damn it is so awesome.

  • i wikipedia this band cuz my friend had this on cassette his uncle gave him his 80s deathmetal thrash collection we used to listened to it in high school 2002 in his car good times !!kreator nuclear assult bolt thrower ripping corpse theres more but this one was classic

  • @09prizefighter09 Nice mentions, good bands. I have been enjoying some Dr. Know (the band, not the singer, even though Bad Brains are king after all this time, too).

If you haven't heard Dr. Know yet, I'd STRONGLY recommend. Awesome old band and I have heard they reformed with at least the singer as recently as 2010.

  • @YaWantTaters i will check em out thanks brah \m/

  • weird metal but its catchy this album i give propz

  • This song is "Astronomy Domine"

  • @Szamot97 no, it's not. it's "missing Sequences"

  • @tomcornhole Shit. So I've got wrong - titled mp3s....

  • @Szamot97 just go and get the album , even though it's hard to find. you know, the circular thing inside the open/close case. c.d.s. perhaps you've heard of them LOL

  • @tomcornhole Idiot. I got full of them, but really, in my country it is very hard to find sth by Voivod... I've got original "The Outer Limits"...

  • @Szamot97 have you ever seen them live? i have Dimension Hatross and RRRRRRRooooaaaAAARR on original Vinyl. outer limits was their return to awesome albums, with the awesome cheesy 1950s' type 3-d glasses, that is a good one

  • @tomcornhole I didnt saw them live. They are coming to Prague soon, so im trying to get the tickets. And yeah, I like The Outer limits design...

  • @tomcornhole angel rat is good, doesn't matter if it sounds different.

  • @Sepultallica86 it actually sounds like shit,

  • Best band of ALL time....

  • Yes

  • i was the only one of my friends who ever listened to this ...good shit

  • @MRMOOD3 me too. I learned about them when I saw Jason Newsted's shirt in one of the rock mags back in the 80's. Didnt Piggy die a few years ago?

  • Best Ever!!! R.I.P Piggy

  • @ApostolZaRodinu add me to that friends list, VoiVod kick serious ass

  • under-rated and forgotten album

  • long fuckin time since I heard this band, have seen live, sehre gutt , you forget how good things are. Like nectar, the name is appropriate. listening pleasure dudes.

  • They were the real deal.

  • @ApostolZaRodinu than we are best friend for ever :D!!! whahahah xD

  • i want whatever they were on when making this album.

  • truelly awesome, if you you guys haven't checked out a band called martyr i suggest you should. their music is heavily influenced by voivod and they're also from quebec, which makes them that much better.

  • @deathguitarist2010

I also think Martyr's guitarist is Voivod's touring guitarist.

  • Canada reigns supreme for three major reasons Gorguts, Cryptopsy and VOIVOD

  • @IronSlayerDeth Skinny Puppy too. Completely different genre but they're one of the greatest Industrial bands ever. Actally Canada's got many great bands.

  • @IronSlayerDeth dont forget nickelback

  • Man! Forgot how cool and prgressive these guys are/were! I was listening to this stuff when it 1st came out

  • really underrated band

  • damn shame you can't buy voivod records in australia

  • While the first two albums of Voivod were both very good, I think that KT, DH and Nothingface are the ones that truly created their identity as the most crazy, unique and experimental Metal band to this day.

    Voivod ftw!!!

  • One very cool thing about Voivod is how they evolved their sound with time. They started out as a really cool Thrash Metal band, then evolved into an AMAZING labyrinthic Prog band. In both eras the band was great, but I prefer the Prog era.

  • This song is so godly. Out of this world.

  • this reminds me of a thrash metal version of Primus

  • Cryptopsy are generic death metal at best and lyrically stupid. This album was the best and last good album by VoiVod to me;not to say later album's didn't have good song's on them but the whole album wasn't good where as Nothingface is great in it's entirety .

  • @blitzspeer bullshit, cryptopsy is absolutely not generic. whisper supremacy, and then you'll beg, once was not, and none so vile, maybe blasphemy made flesh(although more traditional), and you tell me they're generic. but you say they are, so i'm obviously in no way changing your opinion

  • this was definateley Voivod at thier most intense, I like their later work too on angel rat and I am both mournful and understanding of thier discision to disband after the death of Piggy.

I also understand why jason newstead left metallica to join these dudes.

Voivods music was always unique and underrated.

  • This ain't really heavy, but still rocks. There will never be another Voivod, they are unique in their creativity.

  • I remember trading a friend a nickle for this tape. He had found it in the bargin bin, and boasted that he got the better deal.

2 hits of black gel and this tape is prolly one of my fondest disturbing memories.

  • I remember trading a friend a nickle for this tape. He had found it in the bargin bin, and boasted that he got the better deal.

2 hits of black gel and this tape is prolly one of my fondest disturbing memories.

  • For their beyond incredible mid-period output in particular, I hold Voivod to be the band most worthy of the term 'progressive' by a LONG mile, because they truly were. 'Awesome' doesn't even BEGIN to describe it.

  • favorited!

  • XxDEPREDADORxX

    genial

  • Love this song. Piggy is just all over the map here and I mean that as a compliment. Great chord choices and mad time changes. Fantastic stuff.

  • Its been a long time since i have heard Voivod.. damn they were ahead of thier time..

As i remember the rumor mill back then.. Most songs were written by Piggy.. and there are lots of references to his metal conditions..

The art work was all by Away, correct?

  • definetely the heaviest band out of Canada and one of my favorite bands R.I.P Piggy. long live Voivod

  • the heaviest band out of canada is cryptopsy my friend

  • YEAHHHHHHH. \m/ OPEN FACE SURGERY

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • agreed.

razor is way heavier than voivod anyways, at least nothingface.

  • i don't think voivod was ever about being particularly heavy, but about creativity, originality, and musicianship. as metal evolved most bands either went commercial like metallica, or ultra heavy and satanic, but voivod just keep pushing the boundaries

  • all these baND are from mtl.Quebec

  • @GoodOldDeathMetal Yeah, but Cryptopsy has a terrible shit-ridden message.

  • @GoodOldDeathMetal Blasphemy, son. Blasphemy is.

  • this band is from Quebec man ....

  • its a great thing piggys genius lives on through his music

  • they could not speak english very well and had kiisti helping with lyrics in english.....this album sounds great.

  • I reflect back to summer 1990 when I hear this album. This was awesome and still is!! R.I.P. Piggy!!

  • i listerned to this when it was relaeased. still rocks after all the years

  • great song def my favorite album from them.

  • Make your choice because you're all here to stay forever. If you equate facing

reality(GOD) as cowardice than you've got the circle. Let me repeat, if there's no

GOD than you've got Eternal Return. There is no way out. Death is an

illusion. You shall wake up instantly in your mothers womb and start again, for

all eternity, repeating your pointless existence as is, forever and ever.

  • Na thats wrong. we are controled by nature.Nature and instinct, we try define the rest by pointless meaning of soul.Soul is like a VDU its the way our complex machine of a body describes things seen around us, influenced by past experiences, nothing profound or godlike.

  • @TheGnostic12 Thanks. Usually you have to pay truckloads to learn The Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything. 42, my friend. 42. lol

  • @TheGnostic12 wtf?

  • super !!!!!!!

  • Love the bass in this band.

  • I was listening to MUNICIPAL WASTE and ended here too! Never heard this band before. Sounds cool, weird sometimes, but they have good stuff. Actually I just watched another Voivoid's video and they also play THRASH METAL, sounds even better than this song.

  • voivod are the kings of thrash metal.

  • stranger band

    but cool

  • Nothingface is the best metal album ever made, and Dimension Hatross is the best thrash album ever made. Hatross is also one of the best concept albums. Check out 'Tribal Convictions' and 'killing technology'

  • The reason i like this album is they do more emotions than what they do on other albums.

  • if you better like rock like albums, try : the outer limits i LOVE it! some songs on the album : Fix my heart, le pont noir and time warp.

For trash album, i loved their first : war and pain. heres some songs : suck your bone (awesome) nuclear war and black city

  • i was totally turned off with the idea of them finding another guitar player... but after seeing live footage of them playing with blacky back on bass, i'm actually really excited about it. they sound awesome and that new guitar player is wicked.

  • they didn't exactly find a "new" guitar player, he's just hired to play gigs. Voivod are over, Infini will be the last official album.

  • ...No time to reply. I like this album but AngelRat? Hmmm...

  • wtf is the confusion on Jason Newsteads position with the band? look it up. it's easy. He's been a fan a voivod for years and friends with them whil he was in metallica. after metallica made mistakes with him and he left, he joined the superior band VOIVOD!!!!!!!!

  • old school :x

  • This was my introduction to the band.

  • This is my favorite song on this album and my favorite album. I don't know how much bud they were smoking but their video for the pink floyd cover they were definitely on shrooms.

  • jasons band . ? get the fuck . he's just a tagalong .rip piggy .

  • So this is Jason's band...Very interesting...I don't think this is thrash (my opinion),but much more progressive metal.Reminds me somehow of Tool, and I like it.

  • this isnt jasons band, just because he joined it relatively recently

and yes this album was largely progressive but their early stuff certainly was thrash

    each album is unique

  • Okay,u're right.But thanks for the information.

  • :P theyre a great band and unlike most bands pretty much all of their albums are genuine, unique and extremely interesting

jason has brought a lot to the band, katorz is a good album and he is a great musician but personally i prefer their early stuff

  • wow, these guys musta smoked some premium CANADIAN buds to think up this shit. we will miss you piggy.

  • great band and great album as well =)

    -Swe

  • Nothingface is one of the best music album of all the time... and "missing sequences" is maybe the best song of that album! great!

  • I love Voivod. Does anyone know where I can find this album?

  • The "Iron Gang"!

Voivod - Nothingface still one of the best metal recordings ever..RIP Piggy...

  • although i never really liked the vox, i think they trully fit the band. possibly the most unique album in the metal genre

  • Still one of my favorite albums ever! Once I heard them for the first time, I could not resist the power of the Voivod. Such a unique band. RIP Piggy

  • class rip piggy .

  • legends

  • One of the best and most underrated bands of the underground.

Nothingface is one of their best albums and a major achievement in breaking new ground.

I only wish they kept the Thrash element in their releases after.
