  • I can't access wikipedia right now. FUCK U SOPA!!

  • Comment removed

  • the thing is there is many more editors than other websites so it is up to date and it tells you if something is wrong with the article

  • Teachers are retarded. They go "wow anyone can write on there." So I put them to a test...I used two sources for my project. One being the wikipedia page, and the other being one of the pages where WIKIPEDIA was citing from. The wiki source was denied by my teacher but the other was not. TEACHERS ARE RETARDED. IF ON WIKI INFORMATION DOES NOT HAVE A CITED, VALID, CREDIBLE, SOURCE, IT CLEARLY STATES SO. Teachers are just annoying.

  • Wikipedia is usefull, but only for lists of facts and dates, but for intern information about a person or an event it sucks.

  • Wikipedia is like youporn. There are so many good sources, which one to choose from now.

  • Ain't that the truth?

  • wikipedia is blocked at school, its bullshit.

  • @MrAlekz not at mine :D

  • Snowflakes.

  • What's funny, is that it's supposed to be ironic, but it's not.

  • Wikipedia is only as useful as the people who edit it.

  • i actually did show this to my teacher when she challenged my wikepedia source and i'm pretty sure she raised my mark up a little just for making her laugh.

  • my professor posted this link on his lecture slide. +1 education

  • he be trollin

  • Is he wearing lady clothes?

  • @maxpowers518 in an episode he did get a ladies suit, i don't know if this is the one, but yeah

  • if michael scott is right. the wikipedia would actually be such a mess no one would even use it

  • Wikipedia is the best thing ever.

    Source: Wikipedia

  • THIS IS THE BEST COMMENT EVER [Citation needed.]

  • Unless you're editing their "List of Films Considered the Worst." How is "Highlander: The Source" _not_ on that list yet?!

  • You're right. I lied to the internets

  • that's a hell good point,i am burning all my textbook and reading assignment and swtich to wikipedia. thx Michael Scott. Good luck for your paper compan y

  • Or...Unless a bunch of trolls are on the internet...

  • "Anyone can write anything about any subject"

Not exactly true. As a wiki editor I always make sure to put sufficient sources. If a piece of information is put up uncited, it can be challenged and removed by other editors. Also, the most important articles are protected for certain editors only. Overall wiki editors are good people who want to put up the most reliable, comprehensive encyclopedia on the web. Why do people always pick on wp when its the most used encyclopedia on the web?

  • @carlsm95 These days it's working well. But in the beginning, you could change any page to say pretty much anything and it wouldn't get changed in days or even weeks.

  • @carlsm95

I love how you call yourself a wiki editor...we're all wiki editors.

  • @CynicalVision I mean active editors who contribute significantly to articles, aka autoconfirmed editors

  • A degree of low deceit and logical positivist (Wittgensteinian) misinformation in Wikipedia can be gaged by comparing main sources of information on Emperor Augustus from Suetonius with their bowdlerized equivalent in Wikipedia.

Suetonius presented Augustus as a paranoid madman, itemizing why he (and equivalent deified Aristotelian dictators, like woz-iz-name, humanist Wittgenstein's old schoolmate) went mad. It is good competent history, the WHYs are identified.

    Wikipedia censors WHYs history.

  • anyone in the WURRRRRRLD

  • My speech class sent me.

  • heil hitler?

  • @weaponexpert1

    Heil Hitler!

  • One time i heard at school that the bio of Martin Luther King Jr. was written by a Nazi clan and posted on Wikipedia..i'm concerned to know what they wrote about him.

  • wikipedia is an unreliable source because people can make up a load of shit. This doesn't mean it's a bad site, because people who do write valuable information may sometimes source their information at the bottom which can lead to trustworthy sites like edu and gov sites.

  • I find wikipedia to be better than textbooks, because its easy to tell when info has been changed on wikipedia, but when text book writers are lying they do it very covertly.

  • Although sometimes Wikipedia can be weird though. One time a message popped up on a page I was reading from a moderator. He told me to please stop messing with the article named "image". I can't edit Wikipedia pages so I just thought wtf?

  • He's right. Also there are links at the bottom and at the end of sentences that lead to other good websites. That's why I hate hearing teachers say: "You can't use Wikipedia because anyone can change it". lol

  • this is what the show is missing

  • i feal i repreesint the typicul wikipedia writer.

i am greatfill for the opportoonity to post during a periuod of time in when i am recuvring

  • Check out Conservapedia, where there is an extensive article about arguments for a recent creation of Earth, only a few thousand years ago, but no article supporting the idea that Earth is billions of years old. Yet they also have an article about global warming, claiming it is a natural cycle, with about 150,000 years between ice ages. They don't even try to reconcile that with a planet Earth that is nowhere near old enough for such cycles to happen. You weren't supposed to ask.

  • Of course, there is a very strong peer review process, by highly educated people. He didn't mention that. Maybe he would prefer "Conservapedia", designed to be a conservative alternative to Wikipedia, where Rush is always right, and the Earth really is only a few thousand years old. I'm not joking. It's real, look it up. Also, check out Michael Scott on Wikipedia, and see if you can rewrite it.

  • Michael is such a fucking retard lol

  • 1: Go to wikipedia, any article you want

2: Click the first link (Not the ones in these), and keep doing it

    3 ???

4: You will end up in "Philosophy" and thumb up this comment

  • MASTERPIECE :D

  • ROFL!!!!!!! Michael Scott is cartoon character stupid

  • wikipedia is really good for chemistry though

  • funny thing is, wikipedia is really useful. just look at the sources at the bottom

  • @november132 i don't get it...

  • i could right soviet communism is a goverment that allowes people to do watever the want and have free cake

Some dude : wow that blow my minds

  • @Programming12 Might want to learn to spell first.

  • @Programming12 No you couldn't, your edit would be deleted, if you deleted something that something would be rewritten automatically, and your ip adress would be remembered. In case you make enough false edits, you will completely lose the ability to edit anything at all. It's not like the webpage isn't monitored :P

  • @Theoreticaly What if someone has dynamic IP?

  • Awesome wikipedia aka wikipedoia?sickdude! Only awesome thing is to bookmark give2all wikipedia-watch org ALLTRUE!

  • Any one ever consider the political uses of Wikipedia? I have a feeling that the Conservatives or Liberterians would be encouraged to edit the pages constanly, seeing as how founder Jimmy Wales is a Liberterian. Thus, it could turn into a mouthpiece, a tool, for them to meet their ends. Any one agree?

  • 1 word. TROLLS

  • Anytime I need to justify using Wikipedia as a source I just show them this clip! Who can argue with the wisdom of Michael Scott?? :D

  • teh evolution of wikipedia is actually very interesting. Many college professors now accept it as a resource, albeit with a grain of salt, but it does count for something now. I feel that the goal of wikipedia, to give teh world universal knowledge through countless sources, is finally starting to take hold. It will be a long time before people can fully trust it as a reliable source, but the fact that there are moderators correcting things and full citations is amazing in itself.

  • "It is unfortunate that there was any debate at all here. This was pretty clearly a case of trolling. I would recommend a checkuser on various parties involved to see who else we ought to block in this nonsense. People are really missing the point if they think we should allow this kind of nonsense to go on. This is an encyclopedia, not a free speech zone for trolls.--Jimbo Wales 16:05, 30 August 2006 (UTC)" - Jimbo Wales on his stance with free speech and different opinions.

  • LOL @ PEOPLE TAKING THIS SRSLY HAHAHHAHAHA

  • So very, very true!! lol

I can confirm that if you ever want good, accurate, objective, critical information about Western religion ... steer clear of Wikipedia!!

  • "The Terracotta Army (also known as the Personal Army of Jackie Chan)..."

That was the day I stopped taking Wikipedia seriously.

  • @Friendo1231 Maybe it was you who vandalized the article?

  • @jamesjiao J'accuse!

  • @Friendo1231 LOL

  • Lol

  • I used wikipedia for every single paper I ever did in High School. Our AP History teacher told us specifically not to use it, I procrastinated until the last night, used Wikipedia, and wrote my paper while listing 5 other sources I never used. I got a 97 on that paper, best grade I ever got in the class. Made a 5 on the AP test too. so take that stupid high school teachers!

  • @fortmoney i do the same thing

  • @fortmoney I do that all the time! :D

  • @fortmoney Yeah!

  • Comment removed

  • Somebody send this to all our teachers.

  • @EYEIZDAHYPE We actually watched this clip in English 110.

  • Michael Scott is right. Wikipedia really is most reliable thing in the internet, way better than even most highly esteemed newspapers. That is because people are so critical towards wikipedia, you are critical towards wikipedia, wikipedia is trying to be extremely neutral about things, articles are not trying to influence peoples emotions and in sneaky way their opinions on things, loads of articles are marked as locked and ready so only few people can edit them.

  • Wikipedia sucks.

  • Miss-terious :)

  • This sounds like something Sarah Palin would say.

  • @criterion10 More like where Palin gets her info from.

  • @criterion10 or Obama

  • @criterion10 sounds like something Joe Biden would say

  • @criterion10 really? i kinda imagined obama would say this... but then again he does read from a teleprompt that reflects what OTHER writers tell him to say...

  • @criterion10 Sadly, I think she prefers Conservapedia.

  • @criterion10 I see what you did there.

  • ... Anyone can write about the information. If it's bullshit, your IP gets banned from Wikipedia, and the information is replaced by correct information.

    GG trolls and teachers.

  • @PhoeniX999R 1,000 "janitors", a billion other people.

  • @CommanderCooper I don't get it.

  • @PhoeniX999R There are only about 1,000 people who monitor Wikipedia. There's a billion people able to change it.

  • he use wikipedia for EVERYTHIG... I'm gonna miss michael so bad!!!!

  • OMG me heards that one somebody faked something on wiki now i know everything is faked cause that me believe makes me retarted

  • Michael looks like a Cheetoh in this clip

  • Best possible information written by anyone..

kk.. im going to "correct" an article that North American continent is on Mars, and sun is going around the Earth.. :/

  • @DrKillaser those are stupid little trolling kids thinking they are funny

  • wikipedia, y did michael scott leave?

  • I wish i could have showed this to my english teacher last year lol

  • What makes this funny is not that Michael gets Wikipedia wrong. Its funny because he gets it right, and then claims thats why its good.

If you want to get serious information on something, wikipedia might be a good place for a quick gloss and then links to other resources. Try handing in a paper with wikipedia articles in your references if you don't believe me.

  • @NathanSHopkins

Thats just the arrogance/ignorance of an old fashioned system being introduced to a new kind of source of information. Studies have shown that Wikipedia's accuracy surpasses most (if not all) encyclopedia's. Collective sources of knowledge are just more efficient and easily correctable.

  • his wisdom never stops amazing me...

  • Amazingly, Michael is actually right, Wikipedia works for those exact reasons.

  • google unoTelly if you want to watch The Office on Hulu outside of USA...

  • press 7 repeatedly, michael scott is now a frog

  • press 2 4 pure win

  • and this is why the office wont be good without michael scott.

  • Well, I get it that his brain would see it that way. That's his comedy and its funny :)

  • Dude wikipedia isn't a reliable source to cite from, but it's great for learning basic knowledge about anything. Sure, it can be edited by anyone, but there are moderators for the site to make sure information posted is properly cited and has a credible source. When credibility is ever in doubt, the page usually has a warning posted about it.

  • @flashablecards At the same time I've heard many horror stories concerning editors camping articles and making it impossible to increase their accuracy or improve them. Moreover, Wikipedia has "notability" which is just an excuse to delete as many articles as possible in an effort to make WIkipedia more like traditional encyclopedias when one of Wikipedia's strengths is that you could have as many articles as you want.

  • i explaned this to my teacher she still doesnt think wikipedia is good

    stupid teacher

  • Legit.

  • Don't feed the trolls.

  • ohhh the irony

  • WIKIPEDOIA CAN NEVER EVER B TRUSTED these are pure eternal, truth on scumy scumbags, facts!

  • Best possible WRONG information. :P

  • Michael is so naive and impressionable, but that's what makes him so lovable!

  • Wikipedia's made fun of a lot for it's accuracy, but I think it's more reliable than most news sources today. Every channel you turn to or website has some kind of commentary about their opinion on the subject and word it to support their opinion. At least with Wikipedia, neutrality is a requisite so the facts are straight.

  • @kevinrocks2323 I see what you're saying, but at the same time those same opinions may be leaking into Wikipedia

  • you can tell if the info isn't correct jeeeeeeeesssss

  • @microbiek you are STUPID

  • Wiki is cool.

  • @seblue9999

Way to ruin the joke, Fag. It's called humor.

  • I love this episode. It's also the one when Michael wears a woman's suit by accident.

  • @maxpowers518 ROFL yea that was hilarious #LOL

  • I lawl at university's that don't accept Wikipedia as a valid source. Wikipedia usually has all their info sourced at the bottom of the page. People just have to click the the little numbers and view the links that the info was cited from and use those as the source. All these universities are doing is telling the students that they can still use wikipedia, but use the sources at the bottom when citing your info.

  • My friend's Uncle is a professor in California (can't remember which college..) And they had to do a report on the Queen of England. Every report failed because EVERYONE put she was dead. Why? Some guy on Wikipedia edited and said so. Way to fail, guys. Way.to.fail.

  • @TheOriginalEmoEmu1 Any half-decent University would not accept Wiki as a source. Hell, even High schools teach students not to use it. So my point? The U your uncle's in sucks balls.

  • @Feaisian lol! I'd believe that.

  • @Feaisian I'm in middle school and even /we're/ told that Wikipedia isn't a valid source for reports. Editing the articles is why. But a university student? Woooow. . .

  • @seblue9999 I was told in High School that Wiki is a very valuable source when it comes to information about people, and entertainment. (which it is, certain subjects have lock on them now so that they can not be edited, plus they have a service team that makes sure everything is right. so in today's world Wikipedia is probably the most valuable source, because It Can't really be hacked into. (most sites can)

  • @seblue9999 ur a fucker fuckin fucker dumbass

  • @qwertyuiop1111111119 Call me whatever the fuck you want. Don't care. You'd be too much of a pussy to stand up to me in real life. Everyone can call someone a 'fucker fuckin fucker dumbass' on the internet. That just means you're a coward.

  • @seblue9999 haha what are u a fucker fuck?

  • @seblue9999 haha yea i couldnt stand up to a little small town inbred anime freak

  • @qwertyuiop1111111119 Nope. No you can't. ^ _ ^

  • @seblue9999 why dont u just tickle me

  • @seblue9999 okay little princess time for barbies

  • @TheOriginalEmoEmu1 he's probably the one who edited the article :)

  • Well said Michael, very well said.

  • The creators of Wikipedia are biased....love Michael Scott though.

  • @Ruttie2

    1. this is the office

    2. this is michael scott speaking

    3. if ur taking that serious, i feel sorry for ya

  • @atomichead777 No, but still. If you'd be more philosophical.

  • @Ruttie2 LOL. Its the office. Its Michael. Hes dumb as hell.

  • @SuperDj316 Again, i know. The show sucks.

  • @Ruttie2 the office rocks seriously what the fuck is wrong with you. I bet your idea of a good show is Secret life. or some other shitty show by justin bieber. please insert a knife into your windpipe and make the world just a bit of a better place

  • @Ruttie2 you're kinda stupid.

  • @datdude131432 I wish i was.

  • @Ruttie2 I wish I were* .....stupid

  • @MrCurlytwin1Both are grammatically correct because in modern English, the only thing needed to express a counterfactual situation is a past tense verb, fucktard -_-

  • @Ruttie2 Jeez...calm down... I'm sure you've been wrong in your life too...

  • @MrCurlytwin1 Hehe, got you there didn't i smartass?

  • @Ruttie2 I*

  • @Ruttie2 Well I know about a billion asians who would argue against this.

  • 28 idiots use wikipedia

  • haha i love this, but the UK office is way better

  • @TheSupernova1992 *slap*

  • Its not sarcasm its michael scott

  • Wikipedia is the best thing, in the world.

  • jesus did anyone get it that it was sarcasm?

  • @ShadowVoodooNinja it wasnt sarcasm dude, michael is that dumb and truely believes that.

  • @horamerda2 and that is the joke :)

  • @ShadowVoodooNinja the character was being completley serious but the joke implied for the audience was sarcasm
