"It Turns Me Insight Out" was Lee Greenwood's debut single and only reached number 17 in early '82 but lingered on the chart of 22 weeks, a long stretch at the time.
Great song from Lee Greenwood's debut album, and one that was hard for him to follow in its excellence. It is a credit to him that great artists like Reba McEntire have taken songs from this album, such as "Ring On Her Finger, Time On her Hands", and made them into their own inimitable versions, but the original is still the greatest. Full of emotion as only Lee Greenwood can convey in his voice, this is a Country classic
i agree this is an awessome song, i know it is more about being in love and breaking up, but it is a song that i listened to soon after i lost my uncle to cancer, i can now finally listen to it and not cry, well sometimes anyway
Hit #17 in Billboard, 1-23-82. Melvin Lee was born in L.A.,, even though his singin' style is to drop his r's at the end of vowel sounds. Another example of a singer who sings differently from how he talks. God bless!
Everyone has a memory about the one that "got away". This song was out when I lost mine. I'll never forget her. Even though I know it was for the best, I'll love her forever.
This my favorite Lee Greenwood song, and one of my top 5 all time by ANYONE.... It was his first hit (1981) WOULD YOU possibly have " GOING, GOING GONE" i'VE SEARCHED the internet and cant find the video. THANKS.
One of the greatest singers to have ever blessed our ears with his wonderful voice. When they played "God Bless the USA" when I graduated from boot camp, there wasn't a dry in the whole company.
Lee has one of the greatest voices ever created. What an artist. I love this song. It always brings to mind the time when I was 18 and had my first love. We realized that we had so little in common and decided to break up - I think he was looking in a different direction from mine. I found out many years down the road that he had hoped time would get us back together. It never happened. The next time I saw him was at his funeral - cancer took him. Thank you for posting. - Paula (PaulinaRena)
i think this is one of his best songs ive loved it since the first time i heard it. what ever happened to lee i havent hear him on the radio in a long time. hes really a great singer
I know this is "divorce" song however, I heard a short time after my dad passed away.. and I broke down like a five year old.. Some of the phrases "Lovin you came easy" well he was my pops.. "Its for sure I am going to miss you"... and I do...
What a terrific voice Lee has. I could listen to him all day . He is one of the most talented musicians I've ever heard. We met him in the lounge of the Executive Inn in Owensboro here in Kentucky about 15 years ago. He and his son and band were wonderful. This is my favorite of all of his songs altho everything he sings is a winner. I love to do karaoke with this song myself. It's also great to waltz to. Thank you for posting . -Paula
I remember going to see him for my birthday in Va Beach. What a night, he had been my favorite for so long and to finally see him was just pure pleasure. Still the man with that raspy voice I love!
it SHOULD be re-released I agree. That would make my world a better place and hopefully everyone elses. I am proud to say my grandfather wrote this song. I love hearing it.
