  • thank you or posting! this is a great documentary about women's history/rights, loss of respect for nature, and also what happens to anyone - male or female - when a ruling party, government or religion, spread propaganda and fear: society becomes desperate, animalistic, and easy to convince what they are doing is right even if it's incredibly inhumane. All I can say is that people can be so stupid that they don't realize they're being manipulated: "forgive them for they know not what they do."

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH. FINALLY A REAL YOUTUBE VIDEO.

  • Silence will not protect... we have to act politically!

Only those who has the courage to dream, also has the strength to fight! It's our life... herstory and future!

"When I dare to be powerful - to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid."

Audre Lorde, American authoress & activist (1934 - 1992) she named herself a "black lesbian feminist mother poet warrior".

It's a long way but worth to go. Feminist greetings to all.

  • that girl saying a good witch is beautiful and bad witch is old and wrinckly. see the movie Stardust. very educational.

  • does anyone know the name of the song that is played at the intro and closing of The Burning Times? It's absolutely amazing!

  • I BLAME THE PATRIARCHY!!!!

  • Yes Christianity has a lot to answer for but one should not knock individual Christians and as DMSelina says. Check out the Quakers. I have Christian friends who are utterly appalled at what happened during those dark ages. In fact one of the local churches in my home town even allows Morris dancers to dance within the church confines during the May Day Festival period.

  • Thank you for posting this! This is our history, this deserves to be public knowedge.

  • Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!!!! Thank you sooooo much for posting this documentary!

  • Thank you! This makes my heart ache.. and my eyes fill with tears... How does mankind be so cruel to each other. We should all forget our inhibitions, and learn from peoples knowledge. We should cherish life and not be scared of anothers mind or body.. We should follow a religion of total peace (and not war for peace). We should feed and take care of each other both physically and mentally. We should not allow others to corrupt our innocent minds with their disbeliefs and cruelty. Peace to all<3

  • I'm so glad I don't live in those times. That was scary.

  • I must say, tears welled up watching this. It would have been nice if they had touched on the origin of "Faggot" and men being burned ( flamer ) at the base of witches like a bundle of sticks...but eh, still a great documentary.

  • peace-love and light to all souls tortured-murdered we shine on with you in our hearts!!!!

  • peace and respect to the healers of our lands!!!shakti power to all

  • Thankyou so much for such a fascinating, empowering, beautiful and also tragic documentary. I knew a bit about the damage the church has done to women and paganism over time but this has truly enlightened me. As a former Christian I used to think witchcraft was evil, I will admit, but after seeing this and reading other things too I realise now that that belief comes from lies spread by the church. Needless to say I am not a Christian anymore, although I am still deeply spiritual

  • Absolutely beautiful!!! I loved it!!! I will definitely look for more!!! By the way... is there any chance to get the final song with the women singing (la, la, la, la, la, la)???

  • remember the witches base, in case you forget what it is remember to dare to release to connect to concieve to accept to kow to beieve to will TO BE SILENT thank you
  • note the book Robin Fox's Pagans and Christians. over 200 different beleifs got it, lots of pagans but also heretics. anything that was not the accepted dogma and any real estate they wanted.

  • Thank you so much for this magnificent piece. I will share it with my friends to cherish the long forgotten wisdom we need to recover. We have a unique oportunity to change the world. Gather the women!

  • Thanks again! I really enjoyed this! It's so sad yet interesting!=] I send out my love to all those women who were accused, tortured and killed! It should have never happened! =[ Blessed Be! )O(

  • This was an incredible documentary. Truly women, not to mention pagan culture and traditions, are ever fighting the supression tactics of the male-dominated world and mainstream doctrine, even today. When will true equality find it's way into our communities?

  • It is so sad to see Children being taught such horrible things about Witches, it is good to see at least one child know that there are good witches but it is also very sad that she also thinks an old witch is an evil witch.

  • The sad part is that we never learn from our mistakes and even in 2009 we still R so primitive.

  • So true.

Carl Sagan said that the reason that "other civilizations" haven't made contact with us is

we're really not that interesting to them.

I think when humanity truly loves itself,

we can advance into what we were meant to

    be.

I don't know if we'll live to see it.

    I hope we do.

  • Many thanks for posting.

There is a memorial to a witch who was burned in Dunning, Perthshire if you're interested. The memorial is on the site where she was burned. I'm not sure who built it, but I'm glad someone spared a thought for one of these women.

  • thanks for this video.we are all human we all are equal, but we dont see this.

  • 1:23... the kid brings up a valid point. the good and the bad of pagan society. im a neo-pagan, but i know well how far we once went. we too sacrificed humans to the noose or the fire. thats one aspect of paganism that im glad is gone.

  • @acerb45666555 there is good and evil in every religion. Satanism can be a peaceful life philosofy, but is also practiced to abuse small children. It is not the religion that is to blame, it is only the people practicing it that way. No neo-pagans or christians today for that matter, is to blame for anything theyre religion might have been used for in the paste

  • Depictions of living children hung from trees and people burned in wickermen are like blood libel against the jews and are not credible. The wickerman libel was concocted by Julius Caesar to justify his war crimes. My ancestors did hang honored dead among trees because the trees were sacred, but accounts of live victims hung from the oak are nothing but propaganda by Christians seeking to demonize Pagans. If you think it is disturbing to hang the dead from branches, look at modern funerals.

  • These things did happen.

  • I agree Women and having the nature of a woman have been detested fro centuries.Women as well as other considered minority groups(homosexuals and different races of people) always are targeted first.I think That the Female spirirt IS BEAUTIFUL! I am a male homosexual and we were viewd as worse than a women because some of us are born with the male phallus and still carry very feminine traits!FEMINISM HAS BEEN REPRESSED FOR TOO LONG ! I LOVE MY MOTHER FOR EVERYTHING SHE HAS BESTOWED AND GIVEN ME!

  • beautiful!

  • @ljmuncy09

dear, read Robin Fox's book it is in the history section at the library. was in history book club years ago, not new age section and many beliefs got it. title is Christians and Pagans or vice versa. check it out, literally at the library.

  • This video brought tears to my eyes. I have a tendency to see things from the past rather then the future, and when that cart came up.. well, let's just say it was atrocious. I feel like crying at this very moment. Thank you for posting this, it really does mean a lot to me and all the women out there who need to be recognized for the pains committed in the past by this Mainstream religion. If everyone knew this story, I doubt many people would be so quick to judge.

  • Wonderful video. Thank you for posting. :}

  • This video is proof that nothing has changed. In some countries, women today are still considered "lower class' and don't have the same rights as men do - they are treated EXACTLY the same way as in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. The Feminism movement of the 60's helped break down some barriers and helped let women be equal to men and do things to their full potential.

  • Sara Palin's preacher ran a women out of her villiage in Africa for being a witch in 2008... 2008..,five hundred years since the 1600's and nothing has changed.

  • I have a Christian friend who has asked about my Paganism and has some trouble understanding the answers. I think this will explain it better than I can. Thanks so much for uploading!

  • just one question..but need not to be answered... who was wrong/?? God...? Have god ever promote kiiling/?? that those who dont believe in god shall be killed?? Or the christianns?? Using god's name to satisfy their own needs ....? leave this for god to answer..But it seems that we always discrimiated by the christians for paganism....??? again... who is god? will a father allow others to kill his own children by the name of their father...??>?

  • Yaoxinzhi, in Bible, in Old Testament we have all long list who God orders to kill. Try to find it- the list is long. I don't mean that Christian God is bad. But I dare to think, that it wasn't written by hand of any God. You believe that he is good, so if he is good he could not order to kill people. Does he?

Thanks for video. Really moving. I fell some kind of connection with those times.

  • THANK YOU!,i'm going to post this and spread it around to at least give my christian friends a sence of why i despise their religion

  • I didn't post this video to advocate hatred of anyone's religion, though I certainly understand why many people do hate Christianity (I have no particular religion myself). You might check out the Quakers, who are really fantastic Christians, and suggest to your friends that they look into that denomination. They have always been on the right side of history.

  • Long live the Druids Brehon Laws at the Hill of Taras Royal Grove

  • well done ladies you get my vote....not all men are against you having any power..

  • Excellent video. Let us never forget the Burning Times and to continue to fight for equality. I find it so sad that a lot of women today think that feminism is a dirty word and that patriarchy is over. I hope they watch this and gain a better understanding of how women came to be demonized.

  • thankyou for uploading this documentary. it was amazing

  • Such a beautiful documentary. Thank you ever so much.

  • Simply fabulous

    this was very educating

    thx for posting :)

  • After watching the series of videos I am aschamed sometimes of all the things that men do to women and children. It was a wonderfully informative video. All I wanted to do though was to save all those beautifull women. Today I will think of the past 300 years ago and of their memory.

  • i think the film has some decently done aspects to it and I do enjoy that the subject is being talked about but it is lacking in a lot of historical facts about religion women and legal procedures that are crucial to understanding the period. To

  • Thanks, great documentary. I hope you will also pay respect to all the brave scientists that were subjected to the same kinds of punishments for "heresies" such as asserting the earth is round. And to be grateful for the technological progress we made enabling us to now share these ideas on the net. Don't feed the spiral of hatred.

  • Thank you very much for posting this it was very good

  • Let us never forget those who have been murdered in the name of an evil god.....Simply for being different.

  • Thank you for posting this video...as my husband and I often discuss, the most important war we must continue to fight is the continual war against women. It is the most underfunded, oppressive war that is affecting our world today. Thank you again.

  • Thank you... That was informative and enjoyable. However, I find the children's reactions of witchcraft were quite rehearsed, but oh well.

  • yes, it's wonderfully done

  • Absolutely excellent documentary. Thanks so much for posting.

  • Absolutely excellent documentary. Thanks so much.
