Broken pump explains a lot! LoL! I was like OMG! She's using like 24oz of gel!! LoL!!! You are like my hair idol. :) Your curl pattern is looser than mine, but it looks kind of similar. KIND of similar! LoL!! (I know how haters do. 'Girl that nappy ish don't look nothin' like hers!' LoL!) Anyway, still enjoying videos. Especially these old short ones as my hair is currently short. :)
I love this technique ive gotten great techniques only once since I've been trying this technique it seems my Eco styler gel doesn't give me great slip to rake my hair much as I'd like and like u said I have falls all throughout my head just looks yucki do u think it's the gel type or my mosturizer? I prefer this thanks shingling myself that's too much
Also did you notice your curl pattern clump together more as your hair grew because your newer videos your curls appear bigger or is the way
@nishacat03 It's the Eco, which is very hard to rake through. In this video you can see it was harder for me to rake through the Cocolatte b/c it didn't have a lot of slip and I didn't like that. I have not noticed my curls clumping together more - honestly I just think it is harder to see someone's pattern when their hair is short and close to their scalp. Everything is more crowded together so it is harder to see. When I did this vid I did not rake in the shower, I only use shampoo on my scalp
Wow, you answered back so fast. Thanks so much. I just bc'd March 1, I want to keep my hair pattern because it's MINE, but it's tight which makes it hard to style a bit. The shape of your twa reminds me of my twa, but only yours is longer. I transitioned for 5 1/2 months. I will watch more of your vids. so I can be inspired as my hair grows and know what to do! Tonight I am looking to leave in and seal my hair. I just co-pooed, but not sure I want to twist. I don't want gel tonight. Sealer tip?
@tubetop70 I don't really do a lot of sealing b/c my hair is low porosity and I do not have trouble holding onto moisture...but I do like Oyin Burnt Sugar pomade and jojoba oil.
Do you use anything to loosen your curl pattern? I've heard good things about henna, but I'm not sure I want to use it since I'm new to being natural and am still wanting to just stick to natural products. I know henna is natural, but I'm not sure I want to use it.
@denimpixie I always resisted product throughout my hair because of shrinkage, but u r right..most of the product does hit my ends only and I usually get frizz by day 2 unless I baggy method...your videos are great...do u use aloe gel during these fall/winter months too?
@watchfuleye2008 I ran out of AV gel like a month ago (FOTE brand), but I have still been using the thinner kind from Whole Foods. I love AV gel, but during winter you just need to make sure you use a really good LI to ensure you get enough moisture.
@denimpixie Thanks so much foryour prompt response(s)!..I bought some aloe gel form trader joe's a while ago and never used it..lol...I am definitely going to try this since all I basically do is wash n gos.. saw your recent wash n go vid..ur hair has grown SO much since this vid! it looks really healthy!!
My hair looks cute and curly like yours after washing but I find that my hair will get really tangled in the long run if i dont comb my hair when its wet. But when i comb it i lose my bouncy cute curls :(
should detangle in the shower or just wash n go like you to keep the natural curls look?
Lookin good! Izzy is well defined without anything at all and I'm surprised you don't rock her with just a lil condish. Plus she's growing which is much more apparent as you rake and style her! :)
@ReconGirl2006 I think that if I just added condish she'd get frizzy as she dried - I tried it a few times and I got a poof later in the day! Adding a light styler keeps the frizzies at bay. I don't like hard hold, heavy gels though. That's why AV gel is my true love!
@nicolerenee7 Thank you! You all are so funny, I seriously didn't think anyone wanted to see me doing a wash n go!! It's not fun like twists or something. :)
ive been applying the oils i use first on damp hair lately and layer the rest of the products over it. I like the way the other products feel going on my hair alot better.. also it seems as if my hair stays moisturized longer this way (may be all in my mind). Try that next time!
@Vanurse09 Sure can, if I don't play with my hair too much and mess up all the curlies (like I am now)! I just spray it in the AM with a mix of water, aloe vera juice, and lemon juice (the lemon is only b/c it's sunny here and I'm trying to lighten my hair), and shake it out. Works like a charm!

@BlackAngelPlayah Well I do use a lot of AV gel, but not 24oz! It's very light and doesn't coat the hair heavily. Glad you are enjoying the channel!

@brittjackson91 I don't detangle everyday - usually every 3 days or so. I have another video detangling, but I use a paddle brush now.

Where do you get your afroveda products from?
Csmart01 1 year ago
@Csmart01 I got mine from AfroVeda.com but I ordered back in Feb and got the huge 32oz sizes of everything. They're also at Good Hair Mart.
