This show reminds me of when I was young... my mother and my now deceased father used to watch it every week. It brings back a lot of memories. We always called my dad "Tim" because he was just like him (hurting himself every time he tried to fix something and always wanting MORE POWER). Home Improvement will always have such a special place in my heart.

@JackPantz Yes, more than one take is usually taken. I believe the actors performed each episode twice; once in front of a studio audience and another without a studio audience. This gives them more than enough time to muck up lines or whatnot.

@JackPantz They used to do it two or three times and use the best takes from each, but these days they do just one show and do as many takes as needed. The studio is set up so the audience responses are isolated and recorded separately from the sound on the stage. They still use the audience's laughter, but with the hit shows like HI, often the audience's reactions are too big and they have to cut it down for time. It's really the screw-ups that fans go to see.

Actually, it's guest star Tom Wopat. In the episode, she met him at the gym and asked her out, not realizing she was married. She later has a dream about him where they kiss and feels guilty about it. It makes he examine Tim & Jill's relationship, where they stay up all night talking. Tom Wopat just came in then as a joke. :)
