Yerst, pathetic hahaha! ;-) Ride over the tree trunk! It's what these bikes are made for. Approach it at walking speed, standing up on the pegs , as the front wheel gets to it, blip the throttle very briefly for a mini wheelie, the front wheel basically clears the obstacle, with the revs dropping back down, you weight needs to move over the bars and the back wheel will roll up and over. Even if the bash plate hits the log, it should carry on.

Point taken buddy, but that never bothered me when I rode trails. I have an old Yamaha DT250 stashed away and would have ridden that log if I had to. Hmm, ok I did say, 'if I had to' didn't I. No it's not something that a 'trailie' should be asked to do except in emergencies. You're right, they're not built for it.

Yes, matey I agree, they're not trials machines. You have a point. They are significantly taller and heavier. A trials bike will have a whisker more ground clearance and a much lower seat, shorter wheelbase, less height between bars and footrests and very low gearing. But your KTM is hugely capable and tough, and could do that log once you've got yer eye in a little more. Managed any smaller logs yet? :¬)

@DaN4zz I started riding off road bikes in '74, trail bikes, and later trials. Have a look at the EXC450 on the KTM website. There's a little gallery of images, and No4 image shows the bash plate and frame tubes under the engine. It's made for this kind of riding, and is a world class competition enduro machine, strong as an ox! ;-) But these guys are learning and having a ship load of fun, so whatever.

I've thought of many ideas along similar lines but for group riding. with 500m range in a long line of bikes, first and last bike would be out of range with each other but if each unit transmits what it receives, the message would bounce along the line. Bike 20 could speak to bike 19 and 18, who in turn pass the message on to 17 and 16 and so on. If they're numbered then you can avoid getting duplicate messages via tags in the data perhaps. Wish I could program! And solder!

Your dt should have ypvs(yamaha power valve system) if its not older than 1988. There's a way to find out is your dt power restricted or not. When you turn the key on, you should hear little bit sound of ypvs servo motor. Non restricted dt does have power of 25-26hp
