However, Setsubun is held before spring and its about riding yourself of a bad year and starting a new one.... not about death literally....

Celts had the day of Samhain, for death but it wasnt anything to do with evil spirits it was about harvest and the end of it. Halloween came from Lemures on May 13th. Christians wanted to try to get Pegans to believe more in what they wanted so it was changed to All Saints Day. Then moved to Nov 1st to compete with Samhain and was known as All St. Day and/or All Hallows Day... Nov 2nd All Souls Day for everyone not just Saints. So All Hallows Eve Day slowly turned to Hallows Eve to Halloween.

No you should not @ effyouseekay in my own opinion if you are a christian. It is your choice though. I am a christian as well and I sat my son down yesterday for the first time and explained to him the reason why I never took him trick or treating and to get these scary, bloody costumes these past few years. My son is 10 now and he actually hugged me and told me thank you and I asked why...he said just for telling me about it. He understands now. Be blessed.
