What settings are you using on the XBD? Been fiddling with the damn thing and I finally got the tone somewhere close to what it should be but then I forgot it :/
just recently learned hysteria but i guess i need an effects pedal more practice or a better bass coz i play it the same but it sounds nowhere near as gd :L
Great video dude, i'm considering getting the digitech pedal! I can't decide between it and the EH Bass Blogger (I can't quite afford a BBM :( ) can this pedal provide quite a good fuzz? I mean in your video, it sounds quite fine!
amazing job with the playing mate. what distortion pedal/effect youre using? atleast it sounds like the bottom is kept. Im not a bassist but i got problems with keeping bottom in the bass when putting distortion on there. was in front row at Muse at rock am ring a month ago, was AMAZING :)

mate yor really good at this riff, but for a bit of advice, slow down the music in your head, feel it more. because from an honest listener i noticed a couple of mistakes in the riff due to you jumping to the notes too quickly. other than that, excellent cover, very well done
it depends what you play, i think. if what you're playing was originally done with a pick, then i'd use one, but if it's done with fingers, then i usually won't use one
I really dig the sound of your Overdrive/Distortion/Synth. It's got a great sound.
You also do a great job, albeit a few mistakes, also, when you go down to play the E string then go up to play the A, you pause sort of, the strumming is supposed to be constant. Your fingers should never stop moving until the chorus. Otherwise, PERFECT!
Cheers mate. Yeah you're right about the E/A transition, it's the bit of the riff I've always struggled with. Can't seem to get my fingers to coordinate - I think with a 5 string it would be easy, since the fingers have something to bounce off having plucked the E.
i had problems with that section and ive solved them by playing one G note (the first where you move from E>A) on the 15the fret of the E instead of 10th on A. hit that with your pinky and then play the rest of the riff as normal, that really helped me get the speed up to standard =]
amazin!! hey ive finally got my laptop 2 let me upload sum off my videos!! can u check em out 4 me ?? ive only got supermassive and exo-politics on here so far but yanooo lol
don't take it the wrong way but i really hate the look of those basses! But nice cover though!! That was good! I remember how hard i thought this song was when i first started learning it. how long did it take you to play it like that? i got it in like an hour, i think.
i'm a guitarist and at one point thought about picking up bass, i played thunderbird and was amazed, the sound and feel is brilliant and the explorer is good too. I didn't end up getting a bass but if i ever do it will be a thunderbird
I was implying that the neck on the Thunderbird narrow. Which it is. Stays a similar width all the way through, which gets annoying as you get further up. I dunno why, but I just don't like it. That's why I've generally been playing my Explorer more.
Might fork out for one of the new 5-string Thunderbirds in a year or two. Might sort the problem out for me.
It IS a nice bass though. If you can set up an amp correctly.
I did. I went to guitar center just to play one haha.. then i played an Ibanez soundgear 305 and i liked it way better. I'm sorry!!! i just can't like them lol
And, covers... Peace Sells by Megadeth is pretty fun to play. Hysteria too, of course. By The Way by the Chillis isn't bad either. It really depends on what you want to play. Just listen to the bass in songs, and if you like it (or it sounds like a challenge to play), learn it.
Yea that's what i do. i do a lot of red hot chili peppers, like Soul to Squeeze, Wet Sand, etc., and Muse, of course, too. I'll upload some videos sometime. That's pretty much all i hear in every song, it's the bass. I enjoy playing it very much.
Yeah it's a fucking joke. Like they're trying to intimidate me, or taking token actions to please Warner. If they were really serious about stopping copyright "abuse", they'd take down all my videos (note to youtube: please don't!).
your getting a lot better Ben... that distortion sounds like setting #35 on my RP50. I used it on the bass and guitar on my main video I recently posted on my channel. ( distortion is so cool for a lot of things, even made up jams )
I hope your around a year from now, so I can see what you can do after that much time elapses.
you keep rocking on! im gonna buy this bass..cant wait...

that helps me play this song. thanks

If you play it with a pick you get better tone in my opinoin like
JordanRobbuts 2 years ago
the pick gives a much more metalic sound whereas fimnger picking gives a deeper thumpier sound. it just depends on your style.
i prefer finger picking, im faster and more accurate that way and i like the deeper sound.

Why so hate Thunderbirds :O I have one. It's sexy as fuck in person, and it's a beast to play :P
Jatc93 2 years ago
It is? It's just so big!
Maybe i'll try to play one in person, and see how it does... I have an ibanez, and next bass i want to get is the helix by lace.
andrewlondon007 2 years ago
Eh, I like Ibanez basses. Played a few. I'm just a fan of outlandish designs. Latest purchase was an Epi Explorer bass :P
But, yeah, I'd recommend you get a shot of a Thunderbird. They're quite good.

i guess so, bro. By the way, you do really good bass covers. I just got an FX pedal. Korg AX3000B. What do you use?
andrewlondon007 2 years ago
I use a Zoom B2. Not a bad little pedal.
And, covers... Peace Sells by Megadeth is pretty fun to play. Hysteria too, of course. By The Way by the Chillis isn't bad either. It really depends on what you want to play. Just listen to the bass in songs, and if you like it (or it sounds like a challenge to play), learn it.
