@Tsgarlin It does look similar but it is much wetter in New Zealand. More rain and more humidity. I know, I lived in Santa Cruz for 20 years and I've lived in New Zealand now for five. The waves are different too. Much more powerful and consistant in New Zealand although it does not get as big as say Big Sur.
@clarkewi Thanks for the info. That's exactly where I live, Santa Cruz, so I've been all up and down the central coast. I was just struck by the similarities. Must be pretty cool living in NZ. Did you take Kiwi citizenship? I hear that's difficult to acquire. Anyway, best of luck!
