  • Hi! What's the name of the song that you play at 1:29? Pls. answer!

  • @palinkasp91 I am playing my own very simple chord melody arrangement of the Hawaiian tune Aloha Oe.

I worked it out by ear and from memory so it is not very accurate.

I have seen various websites with chords and tab for the song.

I don't have any tab or chords written for my version, I just kind of play it by ear when I pick the uke up and it changes slightly every time.

  • nice! do you know where kala ukuleles are made in?

and how are they compared to other brands?

  • Cheers!

I'm pretty sure Kala are made in China (I could be wrong though)

The few that I have played seemed like great value for money.

  • Ooh! Watching this is giving me UAS too! That sounds lovely Derek. What a beautiful sounding uke. You must be really happy with it. Are you going to the Melbourne Uke Festival? Would be great to catch up with you there.

  • Thankyou Michelle!

I am really pleased with it.

I can't make it to Melbourne unfortunately.

I hope you have a great time.

  • The only thing sizzling around here is the summer barbeque!

I used to own a Larrivee parlor guitar and it was a gorgeous instrument.

I have heard that they are fairly particular about the wood they use on their instruments so this uke seemed like the next best thing to owning one made by Larrivee.

  • Sweet..... some ukes do like more tension on them strings!

  • Thankyou!

This uke seems to fit that category.

  • Sounds great! Looks nice too!

  • Cheers Deach!

It's a lovely little instrument. I'm very impressed with the build quality too.

  • sounds great in D .

  • Thanks Stephen.

  • sounds nice!

  • Cheers Shane!

  • beautiful sounding instrument!

    I'm really pleased with it.

  • sounds rad.

    :) i wish i can play a soprano

  • Cheers!

After seeing your playing skills on video I'm sure you could play anything you put your mind to.

  • Sounds great (looks great) Derek :D

  • Thanks Ken

    She's a little beauty!

  • Sounds beautiful, and I'm sure your right about D tuning.

  • Thanks Ken.

I'm growing to like D tuning lately, and it seems to suit this uke perfectly.

  • sound wonderful the way you play it -- real koa?

  • Thanks Michael.

It has a solid koa body with a one piece top and back.

  • one of the cool things about UAS is being able to have ukes dedicated for different tunings. the uke sounds great Derek!

  • Cheers Russ!

Any excuse will do to justify another uke, right?
