@rubbn95 you my friend do not understand beauty and art in a form of music, go and listen to faithless or whatever nonsense it is you listen to you...
@callmebanks i really have a good understanding for music, but this and the video is just some random nostalgic shit that i don't like. theres no melody, and i don't like the sounds either.
I love the opening colour tones!!!! Some informational vids and programs on public television from the 70s would begin with them. Love and miss them!!
Me too, anyone else know of anything else in a similar vein?
Incidentally, Bibio does have more varied stuff. Ambivalence Avenue and Fire Ant, for example, are completely different in feel to this kind of thing. Definitely worth checking out. He's more diverse than some people are giving him credit for.
If I had to draw comparisons form all things I've heard so far I'd have to place him somewhere alongside artists like BOC, Prefuse 73, Blockhead and Clark. He definitely has his own style though.
"Farewell Mining Town" by Clark, "Primary Balloon Landing", Clark, "El Camino Real", William Basinski, "Bewley in Red", Bibio, "Bewley in GRey", Bibio, "Open The Light", Boards of Canada. I love this stuff but these are some of my favs in a similar cosmic vein.. :)
@chulk607 I just posted this to someone else as well—Check out Need More Sources'-'Shed', anything by The Books, The Boats (earlier stuff is more guitar orientated, new stuff is more electronic), Grand Union, From Leaf to Feather; slightly more electronic-Savath & Savalas, Boom Clap Bachalors, Murcof; slightly even more electronic-Felix Laband, Im Not A Gun. Some are along different lines than Bibio, but all have a sort of dreamlike quality. ;)

I am sorry for these guys, that i just discovered, but for me they are so unoriginal (to say the least) compared with the values we've learned from Boards of Canada. All the vintage sounds and footage, the dreamy like sounds, the trance mood... Come on! Make your own style!
Why is it such an awful thing to have another artist that can capture warm beauty? Boards of Canada, Bibio, Tycho... they're all good in their own way despite similarities. I say bring on more. Get off your musically elitist high horse and either enjoy it or don't listen to it.
and... who says people can't criticize? just cause you get your panties in a bunch because someone is shit talking a band you like doesn't mean that your opinion is any more valid than theirs.. if anything, yours is going to just be bias in favour of them. it's called constructive criticism for a reason.

Hey, if it works it works. When many artists start doing similar things, it either becomes known as a movement or a genre. I don't understand what is wrong with most of the people that other label as posers or unoriginal. What if rock n roll stopped with Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis, & Chuck Berry, & no one was allowed to emulate them? Is Chopin just a rip off of John Field, well yeah maybe but who cares. They both had much to contribute to the romantic era, & im glad Chopin took Field to new places.
I agree that under this light, searching and experimenting the genre, i can appreciate their work. Waiting to see and hear their masterpieces unshaded by the BoC legacy.
Bibio is a huge fan. Sent a tape of his to BoC. BoC liked it so much they asked Mush to sign him, and that became his first album "fi" on Mush. I would assume they keep in touch a bit.
This is my favorite bibio piece so far. I particularly like the way the time-lapse meteorology brings out the beautiful apathy that the world seems to have for our endeavors.
the perfect match between the musical atmosphere and the small beautiful things in life that are put on film so delicately almost brings tears to my eyes. Bibio is so talented.

They're on a label with doseone who's done some remixes with Boards of Canada but I'm not sure.

As far as I know there isn't a definite connection with Bibio and BoC aside from the latter being heavily influential on the former.
