No, they don't peck each others 'balloons', if you notice animals that have a clear vulnerability or advantage over one another, they would rather battle it out in which the matter can be resolved with minimal damage. like rattle snakes have venom in their fangs and can easily eliminate other males for mating rights, but rather they have a sort of dance in where they wrestle each other down. same with wolves, a simple flattening of the ears, and lowering to the ground shows submission.
Do they peck into the balloons? I wonder if many of the red balloons are being cut and deflate. It must be painful for the males. It is very nice that the female uses the balloon as a pillow.
