  • Steve is the coolest dude ever...SWEEEEEEET!!!!!

  • OK that's it...I'm gonna have to order ALLLLLL the Sweet CD's online now. I can't stand listening on my comp anymore!!! Need to hear this and their other stuff LOUD!!!!

  • @uniquemum73 haha that's cool make the 70's loud again ;) cheers

  • @uniquemum73 YEAAAAAAH BABY! CRANK IT? You can download it from Verizon ($15 per month unlimited) onto your pc and make cd's but it's always nice to have the sleeves to read.

  • This song and EVERY single lyric seems to relfect how I feel. Even the tune has that strange feeling of knowing exactly what it's trying to say. Most Sweet songs have that effect on me, and it makes me wonder if somehow these songs were all made for me, but I know they weren't.

The Sweet will always be my favourite band. Not just because they represent how I feel, but they bring me back to a time where I have never lived, and things were much better than they are now. Brian, Steve, Andy, Mick.

  • @kittiesgomow33 That was sweet, just as all your comments. Thanks for sharing your thoughts ;)

  • @Jadranko23 Haha. Yeah, I post alot of comments. But whatever, you only live once. xD

  • @kittiesgomow33

    haha, me too.

  • Listening to Brian is like a religious experience

  • Brian looks hung over man...lol

  • so do the Doobies for the intro to China Grove...

  • is that a picture of karl marx at 0:47 ?

  • @damnyancey LOL .. is not!

  • @Jadranko23 i know. you can see who ever it is holding a guitar at 3:16 behind the drummer and in other videos on the same stage he's there. he just looks like karl marx.

  • Queen, who are huge heros of mine, owe so much to the SWEET! If not for PAPA JO, CO-CO and so on, we would never have got those equally outrageous high harmonies that Queen are so famous for. On the flip side, Andy Scott certainly picked up lots from Brian. Two of the greatest rock bands ever! I wish they had a competition to see which band could hit the highest falsetto. I'm sure Roger Taylor could go a pitch higher than Andy Scott, but it is oh so close.....

  • Good old music right here.

  • great

  • Holy Mother of God! I'd never heard this song before! Fanfuckingtastic!

  • You gotta love those platform shoes

  • damm people danced funny in those days must be a white chick thing...

  • What a treat to hear this. Too bad this was not on the US version as this song smokes and fits right in.

  • Andy Scott rewelacja.

  • EXCELLENT And a live performance

  • They are playing 50 meters from my apartment tonight. But it just isn't the same good glamrock band anymore.

  • 1.28 playback?

  • Yes. He's singing over his own recorded vocals.

  • Was this on the UK version of "Desolation Boulevard"?

  • Yes!

  • yes, it was.

  • Sweet Albums, especially UK versions were so hard to find. I think The Who did that too, having different songs for the UK verses the US release. I heard there's a real rockin' cut-and-dry no synth version of "Fox on the Run" on the UK version as well. I feel kinda deprived!

  • U don't say!...

  • Andy's oh shit smiley

    hehe great...

  • so glad to see em play obscure track in front of tv audience!!

  • Wow! Queen and Brain May owe these guys some serious credit....

anyone catch the Ozzy "Over the mountain" drum break down in the middle of this tune?

  • They were pretty miffed with Queen at one point...enough to put queen are a bunch of winkers on their album cover Give Us a Wink...they felt they pinched quite a bit of there vocal work and said nothing !

  • Brian May wrote this tribute when Connolly passed away;

"Very sad of Brian Connolly's passing. Although labeled GLAM at the time, The Sweet's productions were some of the very best of the period and definitely stand the test of time. R.I.P."

  • great ear mick was one of the best drummers no one ever talks about

  • @volontewilliam I definitely heard it. It's at 1:20

  • @volontewilliam i definatly heard it. some groups copy other's tunes without even realizing it -.- and some do it on purpose. :(

  • does anybody own this full edition of The Geordie Scene? Newcastle band Sandgate also appeared on it with Sweet, and I would love to be able to get a copy of their performance.

  • this is a truly awesome song

I love how he lost the lipsinc at 1:29 and did a little "Aaagh!"

  • agreed

  • Sweet weren't a Glam band, they went through a Glam phase. They were more of a Rock/Hard Rock band that did other styles including Glam Rock as well. Breakdown is not a Glam song. It's more of a Rock song. It's from their Desolation Boulevard album (British version.

    Alfred

  • yes agreed....

  • These guys were cool, regardless of image: a more successful version of ANGEL. The Gibson ES w/Bigsby reminds me of Alex Lifeson from those days. Hadn't heard this song in YEARS! thx for posting

  • omg....angel was cool... seen them LIVE in late 70's ANGEL had an incredable stage production.... songs i felt were best... by ANGEL Mirrors/Fellin alright,Bad time/tower/can u feel it/20th century foxs/ as for sweet.. ALL there stuff rocked.... AIR in the LOOP was awesum from level headed

  • I love the Sweet. I used to watch the Geordie Scene every week. They were the only band to mime on it. Why?

  • The music is certainly tougher than their image. Surprisingly heavy for glam rock

  • yeah they were, for good heavier sweet listen to songs off, sweet fanny adams, desolation boulevard, off the record and more, they were great albums

  • Wer Sweet nicht kennt hat was verpasst!!

  • i like queen and sweet but wat does queen have to do wit this unless ur commenting on one of their music videos

  • ow did anybody see an emotion showing the tongue in Andrew's guittar?! Man,the more I watch it, the more i find something diferent nicely..

  • Great video! One of my favorites for sure.

  • Breakdown is an album track from Sweet's 1974 album "Desolation Boulevard (British). Alfred (fountain on HSH).

  • how come brian said by at the end when the concert wasnt even over

  • He says "TA" (Thanks) not "bye",

"And that's all" line by the end is the part of the song ;)

  • Smoking Hot - Pre Metal !!! Thanks for sharing, this is ultra cool !!!! Judas Priest took some sounds notes from here for sure .... I like the metal sound they pursued here as they really rocked and still kept their pop sensibility alive.

  • Thanks! Very good observations.

    Metal but yet danceable :)

  • great drumming from Mick Tucker

  • Yeah, what he just said, plus-Wow, how did I miss this one? I love this period for them. They got heavier. It's simple, but effective. Very satisfying. I like Andy's thick Les Paul style bends and solos. "Rhythm of Love" is like that for him too. It's been like TEN years since I've loved discovering such a killer band! And Steve? The coolest dude EVER in rock. Syndrome477, this changed my life.

  • Steve Priest is just too cool!

  • @deadwoodmountain Oh. Yes. He. Is.

  • Man muß ihn einfach lieben Beate

  • haha ilove the crowds response back then....no headbanging just swaying back and forth...so rad

  • at 1.27 Brian stuffs it up, just showing that it isnt completely live.

  • Yes, Synthy ;) good point, as we discussed that, already. It's not live as the real concert, but it is sort of semi-live (whatever that means).

    Was sagt Brian zum Schluss?

  • Let's do it in English ;) I'm not sure about that, possible that performance was after he has been beaten, as this is semi live - he sings but just following the matrix(?!), the mic. is on and at the end he salute the audience with "ta!" (Thank you!) which is common in British slang.

  • What the heck happened to Brian at 1:27?

  • its a semi live performance and it looks like he looses it lol. RIP BRAIN AND MICK

  • Sorry my english isn't good.

  • thanks for translation, but I can read english but not write. I would say so much, if I could do it in german

  • Write free in German, why not!? Nobody would mind ;)

  • I SWEET ALWAYS HAD A HARD ROCK- HEAVY METAL SOUND EVEN ON THEIR 1st ALBUM. MANY BANDS HAVE TRIED TO COPY THEIR SOUND AND STYLE BUT NO BAND WILL EVER BE AS UNIQUE AS THE SWEET.

  • I've always loved the Sweet - they're excellent - but watching their videos on You Tube has given me a much greater appreciation of them. Top notch band and Andy Scott was just SO gorgeous!

  • How have I missed this great vid the past six months?! Excelent post, Jadranko23!

  • I love the song,sounds live,super clothes!Awesome band! Thanks for posting!

  • Guess I haven't heard this for more than 25years but within a second all the lyrics came back...

    Thanks a lot!

  • Amazing!

  • Like an outtake from The Man Who Sold The World? There are similarities I guess. Interesting that Blockbuster and Jean Genie used the same riff but Andy said that was pure coincidence and since they were both released in the same week who could argue? Andy Scott and Mick Ronson had similar styles I guess.

  • live! theres a novelty! the sweet so much more than a glam pop band.Great!

  • It's semi-live; see 1:27-1:28.

Great performance though, and good song.

  • I love The Sweet, but this tune sounds like an uneven outtake from Bowie's The Man Who Sold The World album.

Still, it's great to see. Thanks!

  • Outrageous! Can't get enough of Sweet.
