OMG!!! Leon Ichaso did a brilliant film...did a lot of stuff in the 80's working with Michael Mann so Ichaso knows his shit..geez you guys must be sooooo young! LOL!! As for the soundtrack? Just let me say that going over the GGBridge in my 911 to Marin with the soundtrack blasting is the best!!! This movie blew me away! I was on the edge of my seat thinking like "what is Hector going to do next?" Marc & Jennifer did an excellent job in telling this story from Hector Lavoe's WIDOW"S POINT OF VIEW!!! Afterall, it is her who wrote the script for this film, so if you have any beef about this film not displaying Puerto Rican Pride, you would have to take it up with her. This is the story she told before she died in 2002. I LOVE THIS SOUNDTRACK & HECTOR LOVOE

I think that the people that really hated the movie doesn't really give the actors any credit. They did do their best, and even thought yall have yall opinions, you should be respectful because this project did take a long time to complete. It might have not really been what you expected or what you wanted, and if thats the case,make ur own fuckin movie and see if it's better than what they did. The whole movie fell short of its potential. they did not focus on Hector & his genius for latin music. I was pissed that they cut short every good song & skipped many of the best. didnt even show the effect that Hector had on the attitude the love Newyorican/Puertorican pride in the streets. block parties & the fun & the joy of being puertorican in NY in the 70's he brought us.Cutting the songs was the mistake. U should have played complet songs even if it took 3 hours, we were all gud 4 it.

J-Lo baby, the movie was an attempt that fell short of its whole enormously huge potential. It didnt do Hector justice in that it didnt show his talent. You cut every song short, & left out many of the best that defined Hector as a hugely successful Newyorican/Puertorican Icon. Dominating all the block parties & the salsa clubs of the 70's & people identifying with his attitude of life in the streets & the joy of being puertorican in the 70's. even if it took 3 hours would have been worth it.

INCREDIBLE performance. I loved the way the music intertwines with the story line and seems to come up at the perfect time. In the 70's people in general did to much "drugs". It's reality you can't sugar coat a movie because it's disturbing it's what makes a film great.. Hating Puerto Ricans? Racist and prejudice is a form of misunderstanding and insecurity. heres the thing...jennipher definitely did an excellent job in this movie portraying puchi, it wasnt the kind of character ur use to seeing her play bu she ws still very good, as was her co star marc anthony, i just think that they focussed a lil 2 much on the drugs and other stuff and didnt spend as much ime on the music as i would have liked, excellent acting just needed a lil more about how he created the salsa sound and wat went in to making the sound so popular, other than that excellent

The movie seemed to be more about Puchi and the drugs. He had problems but what about his music? They didn't focus enough on that. J Lo had to be the star. If the truth couldn't be told, someone else should have done the movie. J Lo even had to put a song on the soundtrack rather than another Hector song. Would have been nice to put a song with Hectors voice and Marcs together. It's sad.
