Vivaldi's winter III is one of the most dramatic movements in any of vivaldi's concertos ON IT'S OWN. It requires NONE of the needless, silly embellishments and jazzed articulations as played by Biondi in this concert. Play the damn piece and quit trying to catch people off guard! It's not creative or refreshing, it's just stupid.
Vivaldi was incredibly creative and productive, i would imagine someone who was such, would have wanted their art performed with as much feeling and intensity and verve as possible.

What's my problem? You're a jerk. That's the problem. Don't parade around assuming you know what Vivaldi would have wanted. Statements such as "This is as how Antonio Vivaldi would have wanted it" suggest fact, not opinion. That's my problem. Again, you're a pompous jerk.
Fabio Biondi is just amazing. I borrowedhis CD of the four seasons of the same version as this video from the library and I fell in love with the way he interprets these concertos. This is the lovliest version of the four seasons.
Yes sir I agree with you .....I have heard a lot of great violinist play the four seasons including Carmignola...but Biondi its more colorful, I just love it!
Lucky man, yet another child prodigy! Still, can'tr focus on that - it's the true, living, breathing artist we have here, and what a hell of an artist! 5/5!
Although... a little too rich to my ears. Too many strings, which leads to a slightly blurry sound. I believe that by taking a few musicians out, a better sonic brilliance would be obtained.
Extraordinaria, monstruosa, violenta sin embargo impecablemente limpia. La precisión del fraseo, el ímpetu, la furia y la emoción que inyectan Biondi y su orquesta es sublime. Bravo.
Ah! I wish! You know your music history though! I became fascinated by the Philidors some years ago and also by the early French court music and double reed ensemble music that Andre Philidor collected as the King's librarian For some reason I made an email address...probably in 2005...using that name.
Yes, it is the best interpretation I've heard, too. And I've heard lots of em. Apparently it takes Italians to play Vivaldi. They're just phenomenal, live, Europa Galante. I treasure the memory of the one concert I attended.
2 years ago, was it? They were on a tour of sort. They stopped by Sweden and I attended one of their concerts here. They played a variety of different things, but I do remember some of it was definitely Le Quattro Stagioni.
La version de son album est mieu :), mais ça reste excellent

Biondi et E G practically re-invent Italian baroque. This is as Antonio Vivaldi would have wanted it: Art with elan, musical passion without limit

moldyoreo, you are a self righteous prick, just to stay with your choice of words. It is completely obvious what xyaqua meant.
