  • There is no longer any right side in the world. All I see is a bunch of nations ruthlessly battling for power and supremacy. Its such a shame. Millions of lives lost in thousands of worthless and meaningless conflicts.

  • This movie is the saddest movie i have ever seen

  • sad that this song is from us

  • This movie made me cry so much!

  • Here comes the tears.. :L

  • *cries* it takes me awaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay ~

  • Since we're all humans, we all make stupid mistakes and we are monsters. They're capable of doing so much, and it ruins those who shouldn't have anything to do with our endless fighting. Humans can be disgusting, whether we all see them the same way or not.

  • Had me watching through my tears. Hard to believe we're the pinnacle of creation when we're still stupid enough to think war's a good thing.

  • in WW2 we were monsters but not as big as a monster as hitler

  • sad:"(

  • @TheEvilMunchkinOfNih well there's two of us now that self hate because of this film *sad smile*

  • my soul cries....:(

  • Always love this video

  • LETS GET THIS MOVIE ENOUGH VOTES TO GO FROM 124 TO 1 ON THE IMDB TOP 250

  • You all cry only because Setsuko, it was a hard time for Seita to...

  • Over half a decade ago I saw this AMV and I still love it! <3

  • I bought this Sakuma's Drops from a Japanese Mart at my country because of one reason, it is because of Grave of Fireflies. . Whenever I look at the tin and the candy, I can to remember the moment where Setsuko spend her life with the fun moment of Sakuma's Drops, and the saddest part is, the Sakuma's Drops is burnt together with Setsuko's body. . I will cry so much whenever I thinking about this movie, and Setsuko. . :'(

  • sooo sad it made me cry :'( setsuko

  • omg. i almost cried again when i saw this amv.

    I LOVED IT!

    its my favorite movie EVER!

  • this is soooo sad :(

  • You shouldn't hate other countries because every country makes mistakes some are just bigger than others. The USA has made a huge mistake, actually many, and many people can not forgive the US, but we don't accomplish anything by hating. Us hating only creates more hate and causes this world to have unneeded suffering. Many people of the US feel for the other countries that they have hurt; most of the citizens didn't ask for the bombings to happen.

  • @warriorkittyt can you help it ? NO ! YOU JUST DONT GET HOW MUCH PAIN OTHERS HAVE/ARE SUFFERING BECAUSE OF COUNTRIES LIKE UK AND US DAMN THEM ALL ! !

  • @TheAgol07 No, sadly I can't do much and no, I can't fully understand the suffering, but I still know what it is like to suffer. I, like many, suffer every day. It might not be as much as others, but I still know. Also, I hate what countries do to others to make them suffer. I hate that the US dropped the bomb.Did the people of Japan deserve it? No. Do other countries deserve suffering? No. Instead of saying we all need to be "damned," do something little to help those suffering at least.

  • @warriorkittyt I get your point. But you can't really tell people to love the US.

  • @gorengyan My intention is not to get people to love the US. I don't even love it. I'm just making points.

  • I haven't even watched the movie, but this AMV made me cry....

  • greetings from Malaysia...

    we share the history... :)

may this movie realized all of us...

  • this is so sad..........but the million Chinese civilians died in more cruel way under Japanese knives......nobody gonna benefit from wars, except the politicians.

  • I HATE YOU AMERICA!!! My poor Setsuko...TT^TT

  • The Kim's generation in North Korea is probably the world and and history's worse.

  • this makes me want to bomb all of USA

  • @yutaantonino Bomb the US, and so the cical begins again and more people will die and suffer. Why can't people learn from their mistakes the first time?

  • this film makes you hate yourself for being a human, because you know that somebody not to different from you or i has the power to do this and there is nothing you can do to stop it.

  • what is the song kalled??? and who sings?

  • @TheTheesen Our Farewell by Within Temptation

  • wow this is so depressing

  • Song just doesn't fit the tone that the movie set.

  • I guess I'm one of the few who didn't cry at any point while watching this movie. Yeah, it was sad, but really, I have no sympathy for Seita. He was indeed lazy and didn't try to get a job. It didn't matter how much money he had in the bank; it had no value in these times of war-stricken Japan. In my opinion, had they stayed with the aunt, Setsuko wouldn't have been as susceptible to the diarrhea because they were living "in the wild", thus wouldn't have starved. =/

  • @Metroid4ever Seita decided to leave his aunt of principal reasons. The aunt acted like a true bitch, so I perfectly understand Seita, I would done the same thing. He tried to take care of his sister till the end, and thats what makes it so sad in my opinion. Seita didn't fail, humanity failed. Those firebombs were cruel...

  • @crushni

His aunt was just frazzled. You would be too if supplies were growing short and your nephew wasn't doing any work or even going to school. I agree, I can see he was trying to help his sister, but he really should have gone back to the aunt when she was starting to get worse. I dunno, but I hate the air raids too...it must have been scary. =(

  • @Metroid4ever

It is known that in war, there is no jobs. At least none in which Seita could stay with Setsuko. Japan was an inch to loosing the war, no more armaments where needed. There was no farming but personal, money didn't have any value. Who could give you some kind of payment if people didn't have anything themselves?, no economics, no science. This is not a unique case. This here happens in every war, and this movie here is based on a true story.

  • @darksilentpoet

Then explain the Aunt's husband and her daughter. They went to work/school.

I know this movie is based on a true story. I've watched it enough and understand money had no value (as I said in my original post), so what could Seita do? Should have stayed with the aunt because they were able to get by regardless.

  • @Metroid4ever

The first time I saw the movie I asked myself the same thing. Why didn't he return to his aunt?

According to a friend I have who is studying in Japan he says that, because of their culture and ideology, they are very proud and actions such as Seita's (not returning to his aunt) are far very common even nowadays.

  • @darksilentpoet

Hmm, very interesting. Well, in a way, that makes sense, but I recall a farmer telling Seita to swallow his pride. so...i dunno. I still say he should have just let go of his pride, for the sake of his sister's well-being.

  • @Metroid4ever

Yup, I remember that part. It will be one of those things that I'll never understand...

  • @darksilentpoet

-nods- Thank you for expressing your opinions. I like hearing what others have to say on this movie. ^^

  • @Metroid4ever u people dont understand what honor is to japan they would rather die then to take away there honor

  • @yutaantonino

I know the Japanese are proud people. But unless they learn to give up that pride in times of survival and crisis, they wouldn't survive. It's nothing against them, it's just a fact of the matter. =/

  • this movie was heart breaking... i hate what we american's did to japan and every other country for that matter! war is war and every country dose it but for god sakes before you drop nukes THINK OF THE PEOPLE NOT INVOLVED! RANDOM PEOPLE TRYING TO LIVE DAY BY DAY GET NUKED BECAUSE WE DON'T LIKE THE OWNER OF THE COUNTRY ITS TOTAL CRAP I TELL YOU! it would be like japan bombing the us country side because they hate the prez... can we put down the torches and be civilized adults for once?

  • @10125shorty10125 I'm not defending the actions of the US but the Japanese army wasn't much better. Have you ever heard of the Nanking massacre? 300,000 chinese civilians were slaughtered and 20,000-80,000 women were raped by japanese soldiers. So yeah the US has a long history of excessive use of force in wartime but they hardly have a monopoly on it and during the WWII they didn't kill anymore civilians than any other european country did.

  • @kuhj278 i don't follow war much to be honest... the soldiers may be corrupt in most countries but there are millions of people that have nothing to do with it and just want to be left alone. i feel that if you don't like another country you should leave them alone. like the war we're in now its not our country we should get out and stop telling them how to live because we're in debt up to our eyeballs spending money and killing family members on a war that we shouldn't even be in... just sayin

  • @kuhj278 have you heard of President Mckinley and his war against the Philippines? IN 1899, the population of the Philippines was aroun 9mil., by 1908 it was around 8 million. This was the first shameful act of America and is never written in school and college textbooks. Just guess why. And Vietnam? Afghanistan? Iraq? MIllions of of innocent lives were slaughtered. Now you can start comparing.

  • @gorengyan I said I wasn't defending these kinds of actions. Though the US does try to solve other countries affairs with very little concern for the civilian population, they never tried to take over the world.

  • The third anime movie I have watched. I didn't want to see it after 15 minutes because the movie was too depressing for me. My mood meter went from happy to depressed. Now I can't stop thinking about this sad and despressing movie. Oh and I also watched the end and that was more depressing. Someday I will try to watch it completely but it's too horrible. But I have a question? Why did the japs even join Axis?

  • such a sad but lovingful movie i cried and couldn't stop for about 2days and yet i still feel in my heart that its sad and theres always alittle thing in ur heart that says oh theres that movie that got me right in ther and i thought i never would watch it again but i did and i still love but cry over it :(

  • Aw, there's something in my eye...

  • soo sad but awesome

  • its to sad why does studiogiblleys have to be so sad:(

  • oh my goodness i'm tearing up...i love this movie so much

good job with the AMV 5*

  • the ending was heartbreaking they will love forever on just together as spirits

  • it made me cry

  • yeah i was sad when i watched it too really sad when he burned his little sister when she died sigh so sad

  • i just watched the movie and didnt cry at all... but this amv is making me cry... T.T

  • This broke my heart and I'm SO gonna watch this movie!!!!I cried like you woudn't believe and it kinda makes me sick thinking of these things being real, which they totally are.Omg :(

  • サクマドロップの缶から骨の欠片がこぼれて、あどけない表情の節子が立ち現れるところで号泣

  • this is just 50 years ago in Japan and we still doing mistakes like this

  • @KosukeWatabe COS YOUR GAY

  • @KosukeWatabe its when USA attacked japan. Well, its Japan's fault for attacking USA first.

  • @hirokofranklin actually the US stopped 90 percent of oil that japan was using so that pissed off japan so they bombed pearl harbor then The Faggot USA had to be assholes and bomb hiroshima and nagasaki

  • @KosukeWatabe

Every day. Stuff like that every single day.

Even breaks my bitter black peach pit sized heart...

  • @KosukeWatabe if you believe in karma then you wouldnt care about japan but still a very sad story. i felt the older brother was just greedy with the money not considering his own little sisters health.

  • @LilShaggy82- I think that you're being a bit harsh on him...The older brother, in my opinion, tried his hardest to keep his younger sister happy and alive. His desperation is part of what makes it so sad when she passes away. He tried so hard, and it still wasn't enough. In addition to that fact, he is now alone in the world. He dies a lonely, sad death. The movie really broke my heart. </3

  • @BreAna1393 only thing that broke my heart was that the little sister died bro. if you watch the movie you will see that instead of spending the crap load of money he had in the bank he went off to go steal shit. on top of that the doctor told him that she just needed to eat. all together it really was a sad movie though.

  • @BreAna1393- It really was. But I was under the impression that they had run out of money. And no one seemed to care. It was heartbreaking and scary.

  • i just watched the movie,, n i still cant stop crying..

this film is based on wat happend back then n on wats happening right now..

i really want to help !!!!

  • As many of you other people have said, This was the saddest film I have ever seen! I cried a river!

I'm not a very big fan of anime (not that I have anything against it either) but this movie was just....wow! So extremely powerful and poignant.

  • very very emotional amv, i love it to death

but i just want you to know, you ruin it at the end by going "blurp" idk what it is but it just really turns me off >.>

so yeah imma need you to reupload it with just the name at the end =P

at any rate great job 5/5 -.4 for the end

  • Whats the song name?

  • @bbvoncrumb our farewell - within temptations

  • what is the film that they used for this video?

  • The Film is called "Grave of the Fireflies". . . its an anime from 1988. . i discovered it just a few days ago and i was blown away. . possibly the saddest movie of all time. . so don`t watch it if you want to keep a good mood . .

    But its definetly a masterpiece!

  • tis a sad truth, but evil does run through our veins. for every light there is a dark. and sadly some times we as humans let our dark sides show. this movie made me think, and well..... if i ever lost my family like that, i couldnt bear it. Seita was very strong in this movie, and i dont think i wouldve been able to do as well a job as he did trying to protect his sister.

  • There are no real winners in war, everyone suffers. Grave of the firflies is an amazing film, utterly heartwrenching and beautiful, but similar stories could be found in England, germany, and russia during that time.

  • there are winners like politics and weapon industries

  • war is caused by two main things

    resentment

    and fear

one thinks the other might conquer over

(fear) and they hate that thought and hate the people (resentment) therefor

    they start wars

    :(

  • lets not forget that children are still dying from starvation and disease in this world right now especially in african countries

  • it made me cry Q.Q

  • I wish all the politicians see this movie. I really hope men understands that Bombs and War does never bring any good. God says blessed is the men of Peace.

We have to learn and never allow this to repeat again!!!

  • Amen to that!! I think my heart just broke in two.(I wish I was crying) That was so sad TT^TT

  • Comment removed

  • it's devestating what we did to Japan. :(

    this made me cry

  • It is sad, then again the japanese brought it on themselves that is another sad truth. But in the end, the movie (I guess) states that war destroys lives rather than saves them.

  • i'm an american myself

but WW2 showed that we're monsters too.

  • @fraankyyuki1 we´d need more people aware of that fact all over the world.

"Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.”

    Alber Einstein

  • @fraankyyuki1

The japanese army did its share of atrocities during WWII too. Nanking and Unit 731, for example. The sad truth is that all humans are capable of doing monstrosities.

  • @fraankyyuki1 was it only ww2? wasnt maybe the raping of the native americans or the thieving of their homeland? how about genocide of the native american race? how about when they turned down the jews trying to escape germany? america was build on greed and lies. america was never strong it always was and always will be a leech.

  • beautiful. absolutley beautiful. the song fits the movie perfectly and it made me cry

  • there are so many ppl die out there in middle east today because of stupit conflicts and believe. Nothing is important than innocent life, specially kids...not money, oil, or even religion.

  • What is the name of the film?

  • grave of the fireflies

  • Grave of the Fireflies

  • every time i watch this i'm reminded of the idiotic nature of war, to hurt the innocent. I cry 20 seconds into the movie and the tears never stop flowing.

Seriously, if the leaders of this world want to fight, get off their %#&#$^ butts and do it themselves, leave the rest of humanity OUT OF IT!!!!

  • isn't this world war 2?

  • yes, this is during WW2 and takes plae in japan

  • Well, the bomb raids over Berlin was probably worse than the atomic bombs.

  • this is War.... there is no right no wrong... every country have kids... its just that god create war to punish human... however i think kids should be exclude out of war... let the adult fight never mind... but kids must be left out...

  • even if kids were left out , their parents would be involved and make the kids sadd, i cant imagine this happening to me :(

  • oh my gosh T_T

  • okay this is a really good amv but im sorry i cant watch it again i havent even seen the movie but it took me an hour to stop crying my mom was wtf happend to you and i was like grave of the fireflys happend to me.....this really show that everyone suffers in war even the inocent its not fair!

  • i sobbed and sobbed and i never cry at films.setiko just made me bawl lyk a baby and when the boi got beaten up and had to face his sister :( i cried and cried at the end.i cant get it owt of my head.he left her too much and she played around the shletr just made me sob

  • makes me feel bad about how America bombed Japan just to get back at them for the Pearl Harbor incident. There are also innocent people in Japan who are suffering much more than we are and this movie just proved it all.

  • Do you know anything about WWII?

  • I've studied World History last year, so yeah.

  • One can argue that but the major reason why the US dropped the bombs was because they hoped it was the fastest way to end the war (and it was). The battle of Iwo Jima alone left 7,000 american soldiers dead and another 7,000 wounded, and the Japanese suffered 21,000 deaths. It was estimated that if the war were to continue and the US had push further inwards then the death toll would be over 200,000.

  • 火垂るの墓に泣かされない日本人はいるんだろうか

  • そういう人は世界にもいないでしょう。

  • Una película muy emotiva, mi película favorita.

Una prueba de que los "dibujos" no solo son cosa de niños.

  • i just finished watching this....

    so emotional....its beautiful!!

  • Why do fireflies die so soon?

  • After watching this movie it makes me wanna go feed all the starving kids in the world,so i don't have to see another kid die of starvation or disease.

  • @bleachdeathinc69 It's so true. I found myself put into Seita's shoes - how he protected her and lived for her. I can't imagine surpassing losing my reason for living and be empty handed and alone in the world to fact life's hardships. After watching this movie, my protectiveness towards children got so intense. I don't have kids, but I feel like those astronauts who see the earth from space and later become enamored and protective of it. I want to be a kids' hero .

  • @bleachdeathinc69 my heart is touched when reading ur comments.

such is the powerful effects of a movie, when it 'speaks' to you!

  • god I need more films like these. Trying to hold in the tears can be pretty therapeutic.

  • just finished watching...It just makes you feel so selfish when there is so much suffering..."She never woke up..."

Congratulations to you, my friend. You just made probably one of the best amvs ever created!

  • So beautiful and sad, this film made me cry so much.

  • yea mee too T_T

  • I'm so afraid about this world...

  • we all the same

  • very nice story...hope that this will not happen at this time and in the future

  • *tear* =(

  • Just to clear things up, America dropped the bombs to scare the Soviet Union. Japan was about to surrender anyway.

  • Its so bitter sweet when the two finally are together again in spirit.

Such a powerful movie, it really hit me hard.

  • I have just watched this film late at night on one of the channels, id never seen it before, it made me really sad and I was close to tears, but its good, another film that has a very sad ending is Yamato, when a girl called taeko dies in the Hiroshima bomb at the end.

  • D= you can't tell us that it's good and then tell the ending!! that's a rule, don't you know? jk jk ... but it should be ...

  • i still have to watch the rest of this movie but i saw the intro and was crying :'( yeah i'm a sap but it seems really good and sad
