It's not just rich people ... my friend got in the mathemathics department ... but he's just effin smart ... his family however is very poor , so you don't have to be rich to get in... but it sure helps when you're a dumb lazy fuck ( like myself)
there are tons of different kinds of people that go to stanford and many, many of them are poor as poor can be - from rural areas who parents were high school dropouts, to people that grew up in the foster care system, to people who grew up in the projects with a single mother addicted to crack. those are the things that get you into places like stanford because tons of people have the academic qualifications. so ignorant.
