Hallucinations are just one explanation and in fact it is one that Keel was not at all unsympathetic with. I think that you are just attacking a "straw man" perhaps because you are not familiar with the great amount of investigation that Keel did on such reports.

John Keel will be greatly missed. No one else has hit the nail on the head where Fortean phenomena is concerned. Our planet is both haunted and a Disneyland of the gods. I would love to see his entire body of work reissued for a new generation.
Oddly enough, Keel's influenced many Christian Ufologists because the ultraterrestrial whatsis sounds very much like a Fortean version of satan and he saw early on that UFO occupant communications were identical to channeled occult messages.
