@riderinblack57 well, i got some snails to clean that up but they havnt done much. i'm getting more tomorrow. i got 5 astreas and 5 nassarius but the recommended is1 each per gallon O.O
@zaracki92 well i personally wouldnt go that route just because they are rearly on the sand and its kinda hit and miss with snails ..another option is just let it run its course and do weekly water changes to bring the phosphates down and the nutrients in my tank i just let it run its course and as you can see its all clear i also have a sand sifting star ...oh if you get too many snails you run the risk of them starving ...i got lucky my live rock came with about 10 small snails ..your choice
@riderinblack57 Actually i probably wont be getting any snails, they seem to be doing their job but they're just slow. even if i do, i wont be getting 1 per gallon :P maybe just a couple more. i wanted to try a sand sifting star but i have the rocks on top of the sand so i'm not sure if thats alright. I'm thinking about adding some live rock and speeding the cycle a bit.
@zaracki92 good choice dude you will be running around later on trying to get rid of all your snails..about the sandsifter its ok if you have the rocks on the sand the star will find a way the only think that some people think is bad is that the star though he does clean your sand it will remove small snails and cope pods from the sand i actually think its worth it that star is awesome to watch and its problem free as you dont have to feed it...
@zaracki92 about speeding up the cycle if you dont want to buy more live rock you can buy a bottle of live bacteria it is a very good investment as with any new tank there is always the risk of it crashing ...with this powerful liquid bacteria you can dose the tank everyday and prevent this from happening while seeding the tank and turbo charging the cycle period i did this method ontop of live rock and sand and my cycle took one week well 10 days ...thats fast!!! but hey theres an idea 4 you
im guessing this is the first week curing process right? well in anycase it looks full of potential good luck
