Actually I haven't encountered debates on the subject, that I specifically remember. I certainly don't care either way considering all things related to this crap is fictional. Sure, I think it's cool and everything but that's my opinion.

That is only if you go by Underworld. Lycans are half human half werewolf. Werewolves are full animal unable to change form. In the reality of it Lycan is just another word for Werewolf.

Awesome i actually dont have a vampire, lycan preference! For example Selene, Sonja, that black dude from the first underworld that was like one of the other death dealers were cool. OUt of the lycans Lucian 100 percent the best! then Raze is that his name the big black dude? I think overall as far as Underworld goes i like LUcian best because he is a bad ass! and then Selene/Sonja are prob my fav vamps. Michael is pretty sweet as well. As far as twiligt is concerned Team Edward!!:)
