Besides that, stats are ridiculous because every team is a different situation. The thing about Williams is he can average about as many assists as Paul per game PLUS his team averages DOUBLE the assists per game (as a team). So Paul handles the ball 90% of the time, and throws it to an open man for an assist meanwhile Williams runs the offense by having 3 or 4 guys touch the ball. Yet he still manages to average over 10 APG.
@kingzerox if wins is the most important measuring stick, chris pual's team won more games than deron william's team. and paul had better stats. and this year the hornets beat the jazz with both cp3 and williams playing so the head to head thing is not even relevant now. not to mention utah has always had the better overall team. deron Williams is fine but if he was on the hornets, there is no way he would have as much success as he has on the jazz.
@kingzerox and jerry sloan's offensive system is built to have high assissts totals. that is the way it was with stockton and malone. every person on the team must be able to pass competently and move without the ball. is it chris paul's fault that the hornets have n legitimate offensive system or his coaches suck so badly(not byron scott but jeff bower). chris paul can't do everything by himself but he proves year in and year out he is the most valuable person to his team.
@kingzerox darren collison filled in admirably for paul but look at how much worse overall the hornets became as a team when he took over for paul. at least when paul was healthy the hornets were in the 8th spot and competing for a playoff spot. without him they fell back and completely were out of the playoffs picture

Deron is probally my favourite player in the whole NBA but seriously, i dont think anybody can beat Chris Paul. In my opinion CP3 is the best PG in NBA. Deron is better inside and makes some cool dunk (thats why i like him) but i dont think hes better than CP3
players do have bad games. and i'm sure CP3 is guilty of that too. and williams is still averaging around 20 points per game. and you're not putting size difference into account Deron is bigger and stronger making it easier for him to play against the big guys, for example against LA he was able to run right by Jordan Farmar, and run at two 7 footers on LA, get the foul and still make it. can CP3 do that against two guys of that size? i doubt it.

@skillee Plus, Deron Williams doesnt rely on athletism, which will bode well for him in the future. Chris Paul just runs circles around people, and by the time he's 35.....he wont be able to do that anymore. Expect D Will to put up better numbers when they are past their primes.

chris paul is better than deron williams. just look at this year. he has a higher FG %, 3 pt %, more assists per game, higher A/T ratio, more rebounds per game, more points, and more steals. what category does williams have paul in ?

Besides that, stats are ridiculous because every team is a different situation. The thing about Williams is he can average about as many assists as Paul per game PLUS his team averages DOUBLE the assists per game (as a team). So Paul handles the ball 90% of the time, and throws it to an open man for an assist meanwhile Williams runs the offense by having 3 or 4 guys touch the ball. Yet he still manages to average over 10 APG.

@kingzerox if wins is the most important measuring stick, chris pual's team won more games than deron william's team. and paul had better stats. and this year the hornets beat the jazz with both cp3 and williams playing so the head to head thing is not even relevant now. not to mention utah has always had the better overall team. deron Williams is fine but if he was on the hornets, there is no way he would have as much success as he has on the jazz.

@kingzerox and jerry sloan's offensive system is built to have high assissts totals. that is the way it was with stockton and malone. every person on the team must be able to pass competently and move without the ball. is it chris paul's fault that the hornets have n legitimate offensive system or his coaches suck so badly(not byron scott but jeff bower). chris paul can't do everything by himself but he proves year in and year out he is the most valuable person to his team.

@kingzerox darren collison filled in admirably for paul but look at how much worse overall the hornets became as a team when he took over for paul. at least when paul was healthy the hornets were in the 8th spot and competing for a playoff spot. without him they fell back and completely were out of the playoffs picture

the 2 points was not his last game.
players do have bad games. and i'm sure CP3 is guilty of that too. and williams is still averaging around 20 points per game. and you're not putting size difference into account Deron is bigger and stronger making it easier for him to play against the big guys, for example against LA he was able to run right by Jordan Farmar, and run at two 7 footers on LA, get the foul and still make it. can CP3 do that against two guys of that size? i doubt it.

You bring up the fact that Deron averages about 20 ppg... thats fine but CP3 averages 21 ppg having taken far less shots.

Deron made the western conf. final.. Paul is only better in stats because of lack of talent on the Hornets. So Cp3 has to score and rebound more. Deron is just as fast and handles and assists. So really Paul only wins in steals and TO ratio, everything else is equal or better in Derons favor.
