What's really unfortunate about this situation (if it's genuine) - is that both man and alien both suffered great fear. Dogs and cats kill all the time. Owners responsibility.

Here we have a dog attacking an alien for no apparent reason and naturally the alien defends itself. But then to protect the animal he loves - a man kills an alien. Had he encountered the alien without the dog, it may have been a different experience. It's a tragedy for all involved. But perhaps - a blessing in disguise.
