Good Morning, I want to say that because of your tutorials I have become such a better mixer, and enjoyed so many genres for my mixes. Thanks to you again, and instructors at the Scratch Academy, South Florida.
I am highly interested in a portable recorder made my Zoom, my mixer is a Stanton M 304. Will any portable recorder be compatible with this type of mixer?
Stupidly, I bought a first generation i-key. What a pile of crap it was. Did not work, well, actually it worked properly ONCE. What a waste of money! I hope this is better. Will not be purchasing it.
Thanks olemartinbare, my solution was to connect to my computer and use Audaacity instead. It's much easier. Importantly no noise.. I use the ikey for doing mixes, it a great device for that..
i've used the ikey plus, it's not bad recording cd's just the annoying hum when recording from vinyl transfering to digital. Is there a better alternative transfering vinyl into digital? I've put the decks on concrete reduce the hum with no success. Any suggestions would be gladly appreciated.
Hello Is there any alternatives to the ikey ? i want to buy it but i heard they dont produce it anymore .... i just want a simple recorder to record my dj mixes in top quality (pref. 320kbps) Pls help thank you .
Only if you burn the CD in mp3 mode. Since a two hours mix in 256kbps is usually 220MB, you can write it on cd, no problem. But you can't do it in audio mode, since the cd usually handles only 80min (1h20).
Jonathan - excellent video! Question for you: does the fact that the i-key records only in mono have a noticable effect on sound quality when recording at 320kbps or WAV? Seems like a cheap & easy way to convert vinyl to mp3 and record sets but I wonder if the sound quality concerns are valid or exaggerated audiophile nonsense.
Thanks a lot - I had to pick up an audio recorder fast, for a last minute request, and I got the ikey -- You explained it perfectly -- I can chill, now that I don't have to read the instuctions on how to use - thanks for keeping it simple
Hi and thanks. I made a recording for your Tenminmix using a Sony Cyber Shot Camera and The IKey for recording my vid and audio. After I was done I loaded both in Movie Maker on my computer to sync. The problem was that they were not syncing, the video moved slower than the audio. I started and finished exactly the same time but the video was 7 seconds shorter. Any advice about this...
I was looking for something to record audio too as an additional sound source as i want to make films but i only have a built in camcorder microphone which is good but i need amazing. I think the Ikey can really help me out but thank you even more for explaining the Ikey in detail. =)
hey mate cn u please help me out i have a pritty shit computer and dont have that much money atm could you tell me the easyist and cheapist way i could record my mix
As long as your soundcard has line in, plug your mixer's output into there, then use a free program called Audacity to record and edit the mix. You don't need to spend anything. Won't be the best quality you can get, but won't be too bad. G'luck.
So when you change the quality settings does the device give you an indicator as to how much time you have to record based on the quality setting? Or is it recording to the I-pod and it would be based on the quality setting and the size of the I-pod it's being stored to?
i have one too, and it´s very good. It works very fine with all my Flash drives. But don´t forget, before removing the Flash drive, press and hold the REC Button until the LED´s are flashing for three Times.
So want one! This is what i needed so many years ago! till now there was only minidisc in the cheaper price range and that was BBLLLLLLAAHHHH. Then again ikey don't look too cheap ☺

@cldchristian It could be a ground issue with either your turntable, your mixer or your pickup. Maybe a ground loop?

Just curious...
