Conchita Supervia is my favourite "Carmen" and also one of my favourite mezzo-soprano.
What a pity she was born too early, or I was born too late! :-)

legendary beauty and talent- - does the surface noise accomplish a type of "dithering" adding depth and realism ? - how was this transferred? is there a microphone involved? - It's vivid in a way that is not heard on a lot of commercial releases - BTW- who's the tenor?

These sounds were transferred from 78rpm records via my audio set (record player and pre-amplifier for 78rpm) and digital audio processor.
The tenor is Gaston Micheletti.

Because the halls of the universities, colleges, conservatories are staffed by Voice Teachers (?) with 'Degrees
of incompetency," rather than the audio skills to hear what great violinists heard in the past in the human voice.No one knows how to sing today because there is NO center to the tone.

Yes, it is gone because the vocal teachers (?) and impressarios, are accoustically challenged. There is, however,
one teacher, Alex Canaris in London who studied with the notable Herbert Caesari.
