We have subs always down in the south atlantic and you can now fly direct from ascension so the islands can be reinforced very quickly. There wasn't a long runway in the falklands in 82, now we have one at RAF Mount Pleasant. We also have top of the range eurofighter's based there as well. Back in 82 all there was there were a few royal marines. It would be a huge risk for the argies to try and invade again as their casualty's would be huge.
Also our troops are battle hardened due to the recent conflict in Iraq and the ongoing war in Afghanistan. The only recent war the Argentine's have fought was the 82 conflict and they didn't do great did they. They're still mostly a conscript army where ours is a professional one. People go on about the need for carriers but the aircraft are already there unlike in 82 when there were none. Have faith my friend if it was easy then they would have already invaded again.

is there any chance that argentina will take military action in the near future for retaking the islands? my worry is that we no longer have the naval capacity to put together a task force anything like the one we sent in 1982. they might see this as the ideal opportunity to try again..hmm scary stuff.

We have subs always down in the south atlantic and you can now fly direct from ascension so the islands can be reinforced very quickly. There wasn't a long runway in the falklands in 82, now we have one at RAF Mount Pleasant. We also have top of the range eurofighter's based there as well. Back in 82 all there was there were a few royal marines. It would be a huge risk for the argies to try and invade again as their casualty's would be huge.

Also our troops are battle hardened due to the recent conflict in Iraq and the ongoing war in Afghanistan. The only recent war the Argentine's have fought was the 82 conflict and they didn't do great did they. They're still mostly a conscript army where ours is a professional one. People go on about the need for carriers but the aircraft are already there unlike in 82 when there were none. Have faith my friend if it was easy then they would have already invaded again.

Playing the "Malvinas" card continuously is not going to change the sovereignty issue and only serve to give Britain further determination to hold the island, I suspect miss Kirchner is well aware of that. But she has done a crap job as the Argentine President and has little else to offer the country if she is re-elected. Her only strategy seems to be trying and get the electorate behind her on an anti British and give us back the Islands campaign.

The Falklands are a self governing Overseas Territory of the UK and EU as desired by the population under their UN right of self detemination, and they are defended politically, economically and militarily by the UK and the entire EU.
UN Resolutions request talks to find a peaceful solution based on the self determination, not handing over the Falklands to argentina against the will and UN self determination of the population, which is all argentina wants to talk about
