This was a great episode, chas was outstanding and the war with the bugs would be over with in a month if they had more of it in battle. This is also a great choice by the creators of the show by adding additional sci-fi elements to the story as well as greater veriety to the team. The bugs introduce new breeds of their own on each planet thus giving the advantage of different abilities to their forces. Now humans are trying the same, good plan.

The C.H.A.S. missions was my favorite Roughnecks episodes.

It was full of sacrifice and an answer to the question: what is sentience? This mission was a fine way to instill a sense of loss and grief in the squad and transmit that to the audience without killing off a fully-human trooper.

Thats my beef with this show looking back. All the other squads seem to be made up of red shirts, but the only person to actually die in the roughnecks is Razak.

I have to say, out of all the Roughnecks, CHAS was the most professional, and kick ass.

I got to play one in the ST d20 RPG, and man does he beat the crap out of practically everything in the bug army when he is fully locked and loaded. He even has a self-destruct mode called 'death wish' that acts like a limited nuclear bomb.
