Hey viggo I have the same car as you. Do you know any companies or website i can check for aftermarket parts? Particularly for Body Kits and Performance?
@W201n202 I believe it was replaced before I bought it. I did own a 90 300ce that the wiring harness housing was pretty deteriorated but it didn't effect the condition of how it ran. Though I've heard of the electronic accelerator failing in those because of exposure to heat over 150k miles.
@viggoM35 i love kickdown in my 1994 c250 d never ever get bored of it but in the wet hit kickdown and it gets kinky at the rear ;) needs a new diff lol it's a 2.5 diesel best noise i'v ever heard from a diesel
@viggoM35 Hum hum, i think the manual would be a bit faster, and be feeling faster too :) I didnt thumb down, but it was not as good as it might have been with a manual ;)
@BlackAstonMartin The W124/W129 chassis models were when Mercedes spared no expense to make the best. Before the Japanese entered the market. Mercedes had to make cut backs in cost to stay competitive. I had also owned a 90 300ce and 93 400e, both W124 chassis models, last year. The 300ce paint and interior were still in like new condition despite being 20 years old and 160k miles.
@alextilson Are you talking about the 97 model they upgraded to the 5G-Tronic 5 speed out? (previous was the 4G-Tronic 4 speed). In 99 they added a manual mode.
@viggoM35 No mine is a 98 W202 2.0ltr (fully automatic) I bought it when I was working in Singapore for the british embassy, in 98, When I bought it I requested it to British Spec, as I would be shipping it back home with me, and in addittion I had payed extra for climate control, cruise control, matching entertainment centre, (to blend in with the veneer console) and double glazed windows
@alextilson I see. I understand that in other countries there's an extra tax for larger displacement cars. Is that why I see more 4 cylinder turbo models that I6 or V6 vehicles overseas?
I see you hit the sports kickdown!! merc's have a 2 point kickdown, 1 is a normal into next gear, and 2 is into the gear with some revvs left in the engine!
I had a 400e 4.2 (M119 v8 32v engine 275hp) for a while, now have a (M104 3.0 24v 217hp) 300ce. I'll see if I get an acceleration vid uploaded of that
it may have been in W instead at S hey?

@alextilson Yes, it wouldn't give me that extra gear unless I was closer to 50 mph
viggoM35 1 year ago
is that the l6? mine seems so much faster than that..
zaklange 1 year ago
@zaklange Yes M104 2.8 24v straight six, 5k elevation may effect top performance
viggoM35 1 year ago
@viggoM35 haha yeah that must be the reason.. i'm at 200ft.
zaklange 1 year ago
@zaklange Right, I notice once I hit 2000k and below it seems to respond better

If you can find one and afford it, buy the C36 AMG model, you'll be very happy you did.... about 80 more HP.. but the C280 is just as fun
