Howard was perfectly nice to Shelly and her reaction to him was "I don't know him but he seems like a dick"?? I think that's the attitude that all Anna's family has about Howard. He's probably been very respectful to them in the past (and it's obvious it's Anna who doesn't want to see them) but they just blame Howard. Howard seems like a very nice guy.
I agree with you both, I'm so sick of all the Howaed mudslinging. When look at Jackie & Mark "Hollywood" Hatten?? Her stalker, no one says anything bad about him, that I've read at least, and now he's got all these fans who view him as a martyr because of his BS(also, not to mention impossible)story about how "Howard tried to kill him".If he was still alive, he would just be known as her stalker.Now he's this martyr and Howard's so evil,when he did so many things for her.I hate all the bashing.
I'll probably get slammed for saying this, but Howard seems like a sensitive person with a kind heart. He clearly loved the human being who was Anna. If you've ever been around someone with a drinking or substance abuse problem - someone you love - you know how hard it is to say "No" to them. With all the surgeries, Anna surely had many prescribed pain meds and it's so easy to become addicted. I think maybe HKS just loved her too much.

Howard knew the pain that Anna had and only tried to lessen it and protect her from having to endure more. Howard has went through enough of these accusations. He has had all the pain of the death of Anna, Daniel and also the loss of a baby girl he loved and cared for very much.
