  • Wonderful song by Frankie for his brother Marvin. I love the way he put some of the Marvin Gaye songs throughout this song. I loved Marvin Gaye. This song reminds me of my own brother who passed away. God rest their souls.

  • That was very nice! This guy can really sing, too!

  • My dad was really good friends with Frankie and Irene. They met through Al Cleveland and I remember we all went to Disneyland one time haha Me and April were on space mountain together and I sat with Frankie in the Haunted Mansion. Good times, I miss you guys!!!!

  • WOW who knew Marvin Gaye's brother could sing. Almost scary how much he sounds and looks like him. Nice tribute!

  • A beautiful tribute from one brother to another. Thanks. RIP Frankie.

  • Damn,He too has a awsome voice! Looks like Marvin kinda sounds like him too! R.I.P. Frankie

  • Wow, that was amazing - He had a wonderful voice. He did look a lot like his brother. I could see and hear hints of Marvin in him.

  • To the familly sorry to hear fankie died, i meet him back in 82 i still have some unrelisted songs from him.

  • wow its like looking at marvin ! Talent obviusoly runs thru the family !

  • How was Frankie's relations with his father after Marvin died? If anyone has some info I'll appreciate it.

  • he sounds GOOOOD!!!

  • Wow, he looks like Marvin so much, and has a nice voice too!

    Very Kool!

  • My brother was buried today. He was very active in the local soul scene in our community and there was a tribute to him today on the local radio where they played this. I had never heard it before, but it was so powerful and poignant.

  • Sadly Frankie Gaye passed away in 2001

  • Man he looks like marvin. He also has a good voice

  • yeah and marvin daughter looks like him too.

  • this is beautiful. I know if I were there, this would have scared me. At alot of times you forget that it is the brother.

  • Never heard this song before. Frankie has a great voice ! Marvin I miss U So much, I like your music more than anything.

  • Sounds like Marvin a little.

  • My God he is so handsome too and sounds good also. Keep that flame going up. We have lost a unique one of a kind artist and unique person. Continue Marvins work and message to equality to all mankind. Peace!

  • HE LOOKS JUST LIKE MARVIN

  • Thanks for this. i would have liked to know about marvin's Brother sooner. He sounds good. Sincere , like his Brother. Does he have children that are alive ?

  • Frankie was the youngest. They have a half brother/Michael Cooper, and two sisters,Jeanne & Zeola, all still alive. Frankie had two children by his first wife/Judy: Denise (25) & Christy (27). He has three children by his second wife/Irene while still married at the time of his death: Fiona (8),Frankie Marvin (9),& April (18). Frankie died of cancer in 2001 at the age of (59). There's another single he released in 89,'Extrordinary Girl. The album is also called,"My Brother.

  • Nice tribute song by Frankie Gaye. RIP

  • i have just lost my brother and this song is so right and we loved marvin love it deanna

  • thats my grandfather

  • Is Irene your grandmother ??? Whose child are you ???

  • sandra moses is my grandmother.asa's my mother

  • Then how is Frankie your grandfather ??? Frankie and Irene's daughter was April, and she'd be about 25 now.

  • hes got other kids in dc

  • Frankie Gaye is very good. I believe he's got something to give us. He should continue so that we can hear more of him. He is the closest to Marvin Gaye

  • I wish people would read the blurb I take the trouble to write. Frankie is long dead.

  • There's just the little fact that he's at that soul concert in the sky . . .

  • I think Frankie Gaye II, Marvin's son, is still alive, isn't he? This is Marvin's brother Frankie Gaye - did he use the "e" as well - who has passed on.

  • There is no Frankie Gaye II. You're getting mixed up with Marvin Gaye III.

  • No confusion. Marvin's brother is Frankie Gaye. This is the naming convention, in my country at least, if you name your children after a close relative. Obviously if Marvin's Frankie had been his brother's son he would be a junior, but as a nephew he is the second, whether it's indicated on the birth certificate or not.

I almost can't believe I need to explain, sorry I confused anyone about that.

  • Marvin had 3 children. One was adopted (Marvin Gaye III) the other two were with Janis (Nona and Frankie) Marvin named his last child after his brother.

  • wow he looks and kinda sounds like marvin! his looks are just like him and a litttle bit more and he would sound just like him...wow great song! he did a great job remembering his brother in song.

  • oh my sounds like him.....

  • What a wonderfully most positively beautiful and appropriate song for a brother. God bless this most talented family.

  • He sounds just like his brother, where are the recording companies or producting companies. He can play his brother in a movie.

  • No he can't. He died many years ago.

  • Frankie died?

  • 2001 from a heart attack

    RIP Frankie Gaye

  • LOOKS JUST LIKE MARVIN!

  • I am truly grateful to you for posting this. Thank you

  • Lovely. Thank you so much, Mr. Levine.

    Elisabeth

  • Frankie looks just like their father.

  • Touching song, and I'm sad to hear that Frankie died too. At least he is together with his brother now. Makes me miss people that were close to me, especially since they were fans of Marvin Gaye too.

  • This is a nice song. I am interested in what book is being referred to that was written by his brother. I know there are many books about Marvin Gaye, one particular called "Divided Soul" was commented on Youtube. What are some other books about Marvin Gaye that are good?

  • what a sweet tribute to his brother is sad how people have so many tragedies in life .. im also going to look for book now thanks so much

  • this is very touching...im glad that i found this also...he has a great voice as well.

  • I am glad to hear that there is a book out about Marvin by his brother, as you said, he would know. I am sorry to hear that he is gone also. Are there any members left in the Gaye family? Is the mother still living? Did he have any sisters?

  • his mother died in 1987 of cancer, pops died in 1998 he has 2 sisters still living one of them produced a play about him i missed it when it was in atl.frankies book was pretty good he died b4 it was finished though he said marvins last words were i made him do it so i wouldnt have too.you gotta read it

  • No, his mother passed away. I think his 2 sisters are still living. Marvin had 2 children.

  • i never knew his brother could sing and what a touching song it is bless the Gaye family

  • Frankie featured on many of Marvin's albums. Marvin helped me through some times with his inspirational music.

    What a lovely tribute.

    God Bless Marvin

  • hes just like his brother...

  • This moves me to tears. Bless you, Ian, for this wonderful tribute.

  • I had no idea this song existed. Frankie was a copy of Marvin and both were good-looking versions of their nightmare father. Soooo sad. Michael Jackson's life is going the same way for the same reason.

  • :( How did Frankie die? :(

  • frankie died of cancer in 2001

  • One of your finest achievements Ian

    Great song.

Saw marvin live in the seventies, brilliant performance never forget it!

  • This is such a nice song/vid. I'm glad I found it. I didn't know Marvin's younger brother made a tribute song.

  • Wondeful ! Bravo ! beautiful tribute and beautiful voice.

  • I believe Frankie was younger because Frankie talked about Marvin be drafted. (First Born was usually drafted)

  • Frankie died in 2002. The book he wrote about Marvin was very touching,I remember readin' it in the 9th or 10th grd and cryin' once I got to the last page. It's one of those books that hits close to home because unlike other people who write biographies n don't know shit about the person, My Brother Marvin Gaye is a personal triumph and its packed with humor. Long Lived one of the Greatest Singers of all time. n may him and his brother find peace.

  • Really? It was a good book? I wasn't sure if it was a book to bash Marvin. So I didn't want any part of that. I loved his music and I didn't want to read about someone bashing him. But now that u say this I'm going to try to find it today...Thanks!!

  • Phil Morris(Mission Impossible) or Jesse L. Martin(Law&Order).Either one of them would be perfect to play Marvin.I can't wait until they finally do a movie on him. I miss him so much.He is and always will be my favorite singer of all time."What's Going On" is still the greatest album ever created on earth.April 1,2009 will be 25 years since he was taken from us.I will miss him always and I hope to see him in heaven some day.I Love You Marvin.Rest in peace my hero.

  • Oh, I totally agree that Jesse L. Martin would be great in the part. Good call!

  • WOW! I have never heard this before. It is marvelous!

  • Great post...

  • I think Frankie is older

  • Frankie was younger than Marvin...

  • awesome is a giant understatement...!

  • That's scary how much he looks and sounds like his brother!!! That had to break his heart in a way to sing about his brother knowing they were so close...or maybe not. I'd like to hope that it helped him to get through it though. Great song!!!

  • excellent tribute to the wonderful marvin thank you frankie

  • frankie aint no slouch with that microphone, the brother can sang

  • R. Kelly I think can pull it off!

  • I wish someone would come out with a life story for MARVIN. Maybe have Will Smith, or Terrence Howard play Marvin. Jamie, who would be a good person to portray Marvin, IS THERE ANY BODY ELSE THAT FINE TO PLAY HIM??

  • Usher should play Marvin. He has the pipes.

  • very beautiful, thanks

  • t.y.

  • Potent, all wrapped up in a beautiful song, sung by a loving brother. Even though Frankie and Marvin are on the other side now, they still want us to remember our dreams, have hope and love. Thank you Ian for making this beautiful song possible for us all to see. I love it!

  • thanks for sharing

  • Shit....this is new to me!!!!!Frankie is dead too??????i mean both the fact that he sang and is dead...at the same time!!!!!!

  • Man they looked like twins!R.I.P.

  • I last heard this song about 15 years ago. Marvin has been my favourite singer/musician for more years than I can remember but I love this song too. Thank you.

  • He died in 2001. He was the brother who served in Vietnam. (Marvin had only 1 brother and 2 sisters)

  • According to Frankie Gaye's book entitled Marvin Gaye-My brother, there is an older half brother named Michael-same mother different father. It's a very good and insightful book!

  • wow he is awesome,he looks like marvin as well as sings like him he could have really done well.thanks for sharing purplepassion73

One question if i may???? When and how did Frankie Gaye die??? Such a tradgedy, yet he left a lovely wife and beautiful children to keep me going. I just was not aware of his passing.

  • He died about seven or eight years ago. I really appreciate your support, but I ought to tell you that Ian is a man's name, by the way.

  • What a beautiful tribute to his brother!

  • such a beautiful song, make me wanna cry :(

  • amazing

  • Thank You for posting this, it's very nice.

  • Bless you Ian, this vidio is FANTASTIC this is Irene Gaye and Fankie's children , April (24), Frankie Jr.(15) and Fiona (14) BIG KISSES Call me

  • Oh Irene, it's so wonderful to hear from you and I miss you so much. April was only 4 when you stayed at my house. I had loads of trouble with that sax player and I had to re-edit this whole video. He tried to force me to remove it altogether, but I wanted Frankie to be remembered, and I knew you'd love it if I could just contact you.

  • Sooo happy to hear from you!!! I'm in the ph book or let me know a secure way to send you my numbers

  • I'm sending my e-mail by private message

  • For those who'd like to receive the free e-mail NEWSLETTER "Reaching for the Best" I'm doing on Ian's productions, please sign up by sending me your e-mail address!

  • The first CD I ever bought of all the Motorcity stuff was Hot Productions' "Best Of Motorcity Vol. 2" which really blew me with the wonderful songs and utterly spectacular vocals. I still get the chills of hearing Chuck Jackson's "All Over The World" and this haunting tribute to Marvin from Frankie Gaye.

  • I always wondered what it was like to be the sibling of a superstar like Marvin or Diana.

  • Why did you have to re-edit this ???

  • A musician who had his back to the camera, behind Frankie, complained that his image was visible on the video, and demanded payment if the video wasn't removed. So we edited him out completely.

  • I didn't know that someone with his back to the camera had rights? Was his face shown?

  • Yes originally, but he became so obnoxious that we had to delete all trace of him just to make him go away. The funny thing is he claimed to care about Frankie, but Frankie's wife Irene was thrilled that I kept his memory alive with these videos.

  • I wondered what happened to this video. I'm glad that it's back up. As I said before Frankie sure looked and sounded like Marvin and that was a great tribute.

  • It's amazing how much he looks and kinda sounds like his brother, Marvin.

  • Beautiful Song Ian tks :)

  • wow he looks alot like marvin

  • We were so sorry to hear of the trouble you had with this video and being forced to re-edit it. Keep your chin up. There are still some nice people left in the music business, and not everyone is that unreasonable. As it happens, this new version looks better than it did before.
