Another possible way to do this is to add a shot of another snowspeeder covering Wedge as well as Luke. Luke and the other wingman "Rogue 2" is covering Wedge and there is a little turbulence shake by blaster fire and then Lukes "Steady Rogue 2" line.
It thought thats what the scene was but you never got to see the other wingman.
as a fan of editing, I really appreciate all of the work your doing ... and also sharing your work on youtube .... even if your not going to use everything your showing its interesting to see and let us comment on
Well, i half feel like an idiot for bringing this up along with the choir, but the way he says the Steady part always stuck with me for some reason, so it's kinda weird to hear him say it like that. I mean, i think you did the right thing, it just kinda sucks that we have to loose that bit.
I know the audio source is different.. i notice that in the original Mark has a higher more excited voice.... for the radio audio used to correct this scene... Mark has a lower voice... it is not giving the same emotion!! I'm not sure if I like this..but anyway good job!!
This is just wrong - Even if it is hamil, it doesnt sound like him, and his tone is all wrong for the scene. He sounds lika camp luke skywalker - and the sound effects in the backround are quiter now wich sucks. Sorry, but I really dont like your work. Liked your scene comparisons, I tend to prefer the originals still. I have nothing against you but I fel your rediting is even more nitpicky han lucas himself. With the colour correction, dont you think the scenes where intetneded to be tinted?
@rogums The scenes were never meant to be tinted. They hadn't been tinted until the 2004 DVD releases. Even the '97 SE releases didn't have the bad tint to it. When you say you prefer the originals do you mean the unaltered versions or the messed up DVD versions?
@adywanuk Ok, maybe your rightabout the tint but I actually do like the blue in empire strikes back, and the darker scenes. By originals I just mean, how they where before your version. Im afraid, cant rmemeber any version before the 2004 version. Perhaps die hard star wars fans can notice, but when I saw the 97 version on vhs the colour didnt have any significant impact on me so when I later saw it I would be so outraged I would feel the need for a fan made ffort to correct it.
@adywanuk Also, yes, sorry I didnt read the description, Is it improved now? And I still stand by the fact it sounds wrong, It doesnt sound like hes in the middle of a battle, its as if hes casually saying it completley out of context and I dont even think its necesary. Wasnt he rogue 3 in a new hope, but now isnt this quite a while later, when many members have died and people have been promoted
Good job, just a quick thought though: if Skywalker is the wing commander in this battle (not a ref to the video games!), then couldn't it be possible when he orders Wedge to use his tow cables that he's still keeping tabs on his other wingmen, i.e. Rogue 2? I'm not trying to attack you. I think you did a good editing job, I just wanted to suggest this. Thanks.
@flan1708 no in combat situations the wing commander doesnt take command he will give orders for whos attacking what before the battle then you have differnt people who are in charge eg lead and wingman.... he would be on his own but if someone calls for help u do the best to help him... i play il2 online and its very realistic eg takes 15 minutes to reach target area. but as i was saying wedge is luke's wingman at yavin so i can amagine him still being his wingman here too :D
I checked out on IMDB that this is actually incorrectly regarded as a mistake. Given that Luke is Rogue Leader during the Battle of Hoth and that Zev Senesca (Rogue 2) had not been shot at this point, it is possible that Luke was talking to him while Wedge (Rogue 3) was making his pass around the Imperial Walker. Kinda like how Red Leader in ANH was communicating to his fleet of X-Wings.
I'm not against your "audio" change in this. I'm just saying that audio could work either way.
@startanica Don't believe everything you read on IMDb. Most of these type of entries are submitted by members and aren't even verified. Hobbie is Luke's wingman and not Zev. If they had bothered to actually study the sequence they would have seen there were only 3 speeders present on that run to begin with. Hobbie, Luke & Wedge. Hobbie goes off and there are only 2 speeders left. Luke is covering Wedge so why would he suddenly call out to Zev when he isn't even there?
@startanica sorry to say but yes hes a leader but you would be consintrating on your wingman...... i can understand the fact about him being a leader but if wedge is on attack hes more lickly to be hit by anti aircraft meening luke gota have eyes on him at all time... at that current moment in time... btw he might be rogue leader but the flight splits into differnt groups. eg two aircraft. one lead and the other wingman. they then check eachothers back while making ground attacks :D
@CrimeFighter14 It's probably just because you are use to hearing the original line, but after seeing the other comments you have written on my other videos you just seem to want to write negative comments just to be a jerk without any constructive criticisms
did u fix when luke goes down and says hobbie i been hit we dont know who the hell hobbie is the only way u know is if u read the book u know bust on my clip i think instead of hobbie i been hit echo base i been hit the lips move perfect with echo base cause in the movie u dont know who hobbie is sp thank u appreciate feedback
@BobDylanFan1966 That doesn't need fixing. Hobbie is Luke's wingman and he mentions Hobbie earlier on in the battle saying "Hobbie, you still with me" then we switch to a shot of Luke and another speeder flying next to him, which is Hobbie.
@screamwriter1 the audio is only a quick temp track so all the levels etc aren't as they will appear in the final edit. I don't start work on the audio side of things until i have finished all the video work
Another possible way to do this is to add a shot of another snowspeeder covering Wedge as well as Luke. Luke and the other wingman "Rogue 2" is covering Wedge and there is a little turbulence shake by blaster fire and then Lukes "Steady Rogue 2" line.

In the comic adaption (at least in the german version), Wedge is also Rogue 3.
FekLeyrTarg 6 months ago
I've just checked the german version of the SE of ESB. Luke correctly says Rogue 3 there.

@flan1708 yes i had thought about this, but with the focus being on Wedge's run it seems more logical that he would be talking to wedge

@adywanuk Now that I think about, some of the goofs mentioned on IMDB are incorrectly labeled as goofs. And what you just said makes more sense.

How did you make Mark Hamill say something diffrent, unless you called him and told him he should say that simply line for the fix :P?

@Flash11I19 it's taken from the Empire strikes back radio dramatisations
