It looks much nicer in "night-ish" light settings then by day. I found the Oriental Pearl Tower just plain ugly on first look but I really dig the futuristic sci-fi quality it gives to the skyline.

You are comparing a historical city filled with cultural and artistic value (New York) with prime example of government propaganda "show off" city (Shanghai)... Seoul is one of the world's most connected and its nightlife is as good as any other major cities across the globe, does that mean Seoul is more recognized and popular than New York? No. Is Shanghai one of the top most visited/desirable location to visit in the world? No. I'm just waiting until China falls apart in 2~3 yrs

@sangyuni96 Speaking from a close-minded point of view? Shanghai's festive and vibrant nightlife is common knowledge, from 1930s until now. Shanghai has the largest metro network in the entire world and one of the busiest that extends to every single suburb and part of the city. It has a commercial maglev transportation combined with a sophisticated tram, bus and underground tunnel system that guarantees ease of mobility. China falls apart in 2-3 years? It was said for decades. Never happened.
