not being an asshole but the dutch had nothing they had like 5 colonies which was taken by spanish. french had quite a bit of colonies but then taken by the english so it came down to a duel of spanish and english. no one really one between english and spanish thats why the is mexico and america.

there is lots of NPC based stuff, lots of NPC ships for you to loot, and plenty of NPC quests, its much better than pirates of the carribean. oh and you can form groups with players and do NPC quests together or take on player fleets

Well, I don't know if I'd say consoles are better than PC, depending on what type of game you're playing. I find tactical shooters and flight sims easier to play with a keyboard handy. One of the biggest problems with this game being SOLELY MMORPG is that you have to be compatible with everyone. I bought it (didn't know it was online only) and there was over 24 hours of downloading & installing I woudl have to do before I could even start playing. It's just sitting on the floor now.
It's based on monthly fees, but you can pay for multiple months at once. Usually, buying multiple months at a time means you're playing less per month.

this game is shit like WoW, it failed in the effort for continued subscription. 24 lvl's of shooting cannon balls is just as boring as slowly killing 1 enemy at a time in WoW.
I've seen in some peoples videos of the game that there is a hideous Amrican voice saying 'I'll get that bilge rat!' in it! Do you have to have that voice? Can you turn it off without losing the sound? The game looks great but that would really irritate me! lol!

bah... its a boring game! Cant be compared to wow at all! The seabatles are to long and boring and u get almost no loot for all your time. The missions are stupid. And the fighting is stupid. Sometimes u beat higher lvl enemies than u without a scratch, and sometimes and u die for no reason even though u outnumber the enemy. Boring and full of Bugs.

I was talking more about the preferences of players. MOST people who buy a game called Pirates of the Burning Sea aren't going to jump at the chance to be a French Merchant are they?
What preferances? Everyone chooses what he/she wants. And while you may not see as many French as Pirates, they are still there. I for one don't think population of nations should be balanced at all! Spain is not as populated as Pirates of Brittain, but hey, it rules :) And it's fun. It's the preferance of some.
They need to have a free trial for this. I get that having a fee for the game makes it better, but how is someone supposed to know if they'd like it or not? Just pay $50 and take a gamble? I dunno. Looks fun, but I'll probably wait until there's a free trial 'on deck' (teehee)

I'm in the beta, and now idea what Goolz is talking about, this game is absolutely amazing. In the beta we're sorta' limited so I can't wait till' it's released. The turn-based fits perfect with this game. It's fast turn-based too, not slow or anything. It's awesome. Ship combat and exploration... don't get my started. You all are in for a treat. A big one.
If it does what it says effectively, e.g. the "deep" ship battle system along with decent swordplay, it could offer a quality pirate game to the market. I've enjoyed several pirate games, but found something lacking from each.

They need to have a free trial for this. I get that having a fee for the game makes it better, but how is someone supposed to know if they'd like it or not? Just pay $50 and take a gamble? I dunno. Looks fun, but I'll probably wait until there's a free trial 'on deck' (teehee)

This game is beautifully done. The only thing I don't like is the avatar fights, but the naval battles more than make up for that. Well done Flying Lab Software.

I'm in the beta, and now idea what Goolz is talking about, this game is absolutely amazing. In the beta we're sorta' limited so I can't wait till' it's released. The turn-based fits perfect with this game. It's fast turn-based too, not slow or anything. It's awesome. Ship combat and exploration... don't get my started. You all are in for a treat. A big one.

If it does what it says effectively, e.g. the "deep" ship battle system along with decent swordplay, it could offer a quality pirate game to the market. I've enjoyed several pirate games, but found something lacking from each.
