@PlasmaDude47 this is not about towel thefts, it's about child abuse. Any responsible person would make sure the police was involved. Would you simply tell your superiors what was happening and would never think about it again? Then you would meet the abuser everyday, walking freely to commit more abuse and would not do anything to stop him?
I think if hadnt lost his job hed still be alive, yes he had cancer but I dont think he had any fight in him he was ready to hang it up, when you work at the same place for 60 years and your work is basically your entire life, thats all that motivates you to keep on truckin. It's like when a spouse dies the other partner follows not long after. RIP Joe!
I agree with you fully, Don: I don't care what people say about him, he was an inarguably good coach and, from all accounts, a good Human Being. What more could you ask? We all make mistakes, after all. Rest in Peace Joe.
@furnari874 Turning a blind eye to years of child molestation doesn't make one a good human being, nor is it just a "mistake" that ordinary people would make.
@SexOffendersOnYT Coach Paterno did not turn a blind eye, where the hell are you people getting your information. he reported the accusation to his superiors as he was supposed to do. Now I'm tired of this talk, I will not reply to any more comments on the subject. The man is dead, end of story.
@SexOffendersOnYT [This will be a two-part response] Firstly, it cannot be debated that Paterno reported the incident to his superiors, for it is now accepted that he did. Secondly, it takes a fool to believe in any such convention as Normality, as it’s completely dependent upon the subjective nature of a particular species. And both you and I know that behavioral tendencies vary far too much for there to be the required consistency to have something as arbitrary as ------
@furnari874 -----Normality accepted as a reasonable notion. Lastly, while I normally invite debate (it is, after all, the spice of life), I am apt to agree with Plasmadude: the man is dead. I understand that you’re passionate about riding this world of Sex Offenders (as you should be), but sometimes these issues just have to come to a close, as this one should.
It's a shame too, I live only an hour or so from State College and never been to a game. I think my grandfather met him once, they have a pic of him. He'll be deeply missed.
He gave shelter to a child abuser. I won't miss him.

@TheReptube01 Oh bullshit, he did what he was supposed to do. Blame the higher ups who were supposed to call the police, not him.
PlasmaDude47 1 week ago
@PlasmaDude47 Sorry but this is the real BS. He was supposed to call the cops too. Anyone who knew that was happening was supposed to make it stop.

@TheReptube01 No he wasn't he did what the law required, report it to the higher ups and THEY were supposed to call the police.

@mriley858 Someone else said that they felt he gave up because of losing his job, and that just could be I don't know!

It is sad and the treatment in his final days from the School sure couldn't have helped him.

@k6tpl Yes it is and you are so very right. They could have left him finish the season and retire.
