This was a great movie. Movies will never be like this again. All the partying scenes seem like they are actually blasted. All the CGI in the world cant make up for the fun it looks like was had in this movie.
@19nisey69, you just had to been around watching this at the time or else you wont think its good. i dont even fault you for it. i loved it then but even i gotta admit it wouldnt be my 1st choice of something to watch nowadays...and i loved almost all of burt's movies back then esp smokey 1&2. these were the good old days as a kid growing up in the 70's. now we're inundated with crappy ass reality shows about nothing because producers have absolutley ran out of creative ideas.
those were the days when you can beet the crap of some one and not really get in trouble now if you even call some a bad name they sue you or harssement or assualt god knows what else they sue you for. back then people were tough if you lose a fight you lost it and thats it. if you are picking a fight no matter if mouth or fist you have to go to court to fight it today. those were the days.
does any one have the whole movie i like to see the whole thing posted hear on you tube. dont think you have anything to worry about since it is over 30 years old.
@baliboy911 It's actually horrible, and while they don't make them like this any more, it's sort of a good thing. Maybe for nostalgia it's fun, but it is really bad.
In the Clint Eastwood movie Everywhich Way but Loose, Clint's character Philo gets in a bar fight in a place also called the Palomino. Is that just a coincidence? or is the Palomino an actual bar? the bars in each movie have a completely different interior (meaning different buildings obviously.) I don't know California history that well.
@Zoppf Hello, yes the Palomino the original was in Hollywood i believe it closed down a number of years of go, someone might tell ya if it reopened? or became something else?
@treetoptop Thanks Treetop, also like him in prison football movie in the 70's burt says "You wanna play football?.....Tessier says no......burt says we are going to play the guards!....Tesier smiles and says yeah i wanna play... and he was in Cannonball Run part with Fonda, I heard he was native indian and was a superb martial arts guys very good at it any news on that being true Treetop? thxs its Jeff also to be easier
@OEKCVB Yes sir Jeff, the prison movie you mentioned was the original "The Longest Yard" from the 70s. They recently made a remake of that film and it was terrible, you cannot remake a classic like that. Check out the 1975 movie "Hard Times" with Charles Bronson. Tessier plays a super tough fist fighter, awesome movie. Also, Tessier was in an episode of Little House of the Prairie where he played a Indian on the run. A strongman, actor, veteran, he was a great man and 1 of my fav characters
@treetoptop Thxs Treetop, not much on his Bio like wife, kids wonder why? do you know if any of his kids are actors?? or if he was married? agree with you on the Longest Yard, i like Sadler but Burt was the man in that movie for sure.
The Palomino. Someone should write a book about the legendary little dive. LAs one historic country music honky tonk and a rite-of-passage for the new stars coming up. LA in the 70s, pre-Urban Cowboy, didnt give a hoot about country western. But if you were a fan, you could go to The Palomino, sit four feet from this non-existent stage, and see your favorite radio stars sing up close and personal, all for a two drink cover. Unheard of today!
I liked this movie so much in 1978 that I saw it three times at the theater. I was in kindergarten. I didn't know until just then that Terry Bradshaw and James Best (Roscoe P. Coltrane from the Dukes of Hazzard) were in it. I need to rent it and watch the whole thing again.
This whole movie rocks! Got to love this scene and the one where burt drives his truck backwords.. What a great time to grow up with these films.. Concention of asshole.. Swat team are they gonna swat flies?? Some good shit right here.. LOL OH GOLDEN HELMET.. Priceless....
I got a feeling this scene might have been what inspired the movie Roadhouse.

@OEKCVB Yes sir, died in 1990 of cancer. A great loss of a great man and actor. One of the best "bad guys" ever on film. RIP Robert!
