My dad had this surgery done 60 years ago. I had it done twice, first time in the 70's and again about 10 years ago. What amazes me is the surgery hasn't really changed much in sixty years. The cyst is cut out and the wound left open to heal from the bottom up.

I have a pilonidal cyst come up the other day and hurts like hell, But terrified of the recovery period.

@arbeia76 I just had my excision four days ago; it hurts SOOOO damn bad now! I'm glad that it's taken care of but like getting it packed w/ gauze twice a day and everything is just horrible. Mine is a Pilonidal cyst idk if that's different from a sinus but I went back to work yesterday already and I wish I would have gotten more time off!
