  • damn, you sound like eazy e.

  • @TupacOfficialMusic hahahaha, I've been told I sound like Oprah, so I guess Easy E beats that out..lol

  • Never would've thought about using the Matrix pattern sequencer. Thanks!

  • @RecordnRtist You're welcome. :)

  • a flam is only two hits… cmon now.

  • great video... and dont wory about the sound quality... i heard you loud and clear...lol.. thanks

  • Is there any easy way to do this with kong? Well i guess playing them individually on the keyboard and then Ctrl-K (dunno what its called lol) but thats seems kinda noobie i guess.

  • how do you do this with the kong drummachine? Is there any easy way to trigger the kong drum with RR? That would save alot of time for me^^

  • Great video !! thx

  • yall are tripping this is the wackest way easiest way to achieve snare rolls is to open either nnxt or nn19 the load your snare sound make sure you put the release all the way up the attach the rpg8 and voila easy real time snare roll and play from right of keyboard towards the left using black keys or altenate between black and whie

  • @swiggarebel thanks cuz, makes so much sense

  • even though we are in 2011 nice vid and beat. I have a vid on youtube. Type in piranhas eating shrimp and look for fortgreene31. That was my first vid and making a beat using Propellerhead software Reason 4.0 and Recycle 2.1. I have upgraded to Reason 5.0 1 and Record 1.5.1 as well. I will soon upload a vid im just waiting for my HD camcorder. Peace

  • By the way, I know this may be asking alot and I am not sure if it is even doable, but will you be doing a video on how to do a traditional drum roll? Something that requires more than the snare e.g. the snare, bass, ending with high hat etc. It seems like you would just load up a drum kit and would have to do it manually as I think the Matrix is monophonic. Hope to hear from you soon. Mark P.S. I am trying to do a Neosoul album and would like some traditional drum rolls for song separation.

  • Awesome video. I enjoyed that you showed multiple ways to do the drum roll. So far, I think I am going to give the NN-XT paired with the Matrix a try because it seems like you would have more control over the drum rolls, more opportunity for variety, and more control over the best places to input it in the song. I think it will be experimental to get either a realistic sound or at least to make sure that it is the right snare that matches the redrum. Thanks again... Mark

  • interesting...I usually load up a nnxt, initialize the patch, throw in a snare sample and just play the snare. You don't have to worry about manual pitching that way.

  • Reason , Recycle , Sound Forge , Cubase is my set up

  • you are appreciated.

  • homie thank u

  • thank you for making this tutorial easy to understand thanks keep up the good work you helped me out a whole lot

  • yes

big ups for actually explaining shit in a way that makes sense to me.

    thank you

  • Your videos are very informational. They have helped me aot

  • how can u use multiple matrix for a roll?

  • what is the camera u useing

  • can you make reason 4 play in odd time signatures like 7/4...13/4....11/8?

  • yeah mate, any time signiture that you type in, reason will roll it out for you straight up :D

  • man great tutorial thanx alot ur the shit!!!

  • what is that long hi hat sounding instrument called the one that leads to the clap that sounds like tssss?

  • it's an open hi hat..in this case a 909 open hi haat

  • 808 open high hat*

  • Thanks for the vid. Question how do you transfer what's on the NN-19 or NN-XT which ever you used for the snare roll without playing it manually.?

    "I'm new to reason"

    thanks

  • you can also, if you have the screen on 6:10, you select a note, you look the pos. then you draw a note next to it

and you adjust die pos. exemple, note 1 is pos: 8.4.3.0 note 2 is pos:8.4.3.80. if you do that more notes, you get a verry quick snare.

    i hope this help, bye

  • reason rules

  • Thanx for the tips!!!!

  • some one likes the NNXT... lol

  • cos its the dopest thing in reason

  • ALWAYZ WRITE THE NAME OF THE INSTRUMENTS ON THE DEVICES !!! KEEP IT ORGANIZED... it gets confusing when you got 15 nn-xt

  • why the fuck are you in my business, you shut the fuck up dumb as prick. how about you kill your damn self.

  • I actually can pull that trick off manually! Just play it( this takes a lil' skill) then quantize at 1/32 and it will fall in place. Nice vid Fam!

  • yo its alot easier to use the arpegiator and just change the rate, that way you can make it more connected and such...

  • Nice Vid. thanks

  • all you need to do is use the redrum .. a snare roll is basic as hell all you gotta do is raise the speed

  • How do you count your 8 and 16 bar loops in the sequencer?

  • shut up

  • wastajancrow:go to hell bitch.

  • the flam on the redrum is what adjusts the tempo of the snare roll right?

  • I just use the redrum and highlight the buttons across. if you want to make it a pitched snare roll, manually tune the pitch (on the channel where the snare is) from the highest pitch to the middle while you record.

  • Thanks for the input, also don't forget to change the volume levels to add a realistic feel to the snare roll.

  • @sirflex10 realism would come from adjusting the velocity of individual notes, not the volume, although, they are similar

  • @sirflex10 He means the snares velocity. The velocity chart can be found under the piano roll view, its location can be forgotten sometimes.

  • Yo man u just blow my mind bout to try that right now thanx! Had no idea u could do that in the matrix

  • r4 is the shit real talk

  • you cant use vst plugins right? i mean in reason 3

  • Right, Reason does not work with Vst plugins at all...ud have to have a DAW and rewire Reason!!

  • thnx that helped a lot

  • How do I get the Matrix Sequencer to Play when I want it? I got it just right but it just seems to play over and over and I can't out how to get it to just play once, and when I Want it.

  • automate it or mute/unmute it

  • U do know u can just hold the control key down and then just drag it to where u want it copied, though it would help rather the u copy and paste it the long way round, cool vid though, peace

  • yeah i just drop the tempo to like 40 bpm and play it on the keyboard :]

  • dawg yo videos are helpin alot..i been at reason for a couple months andi been workin my ass off tryin to get dat snare roll..nobody had no videos about..but i should be str8 now good lookin B..

  • The forums are the broke producers dream...mad props sirflex!!

  • You wont find those 1983 beats there, its all help on they type of beats you wanna make. Lots of info on what sounds are used,tempos,ect..So if you dont got alot to work with dont trip..Its not about how much you got..But how you work it..And here Sirflex has done a outstanding job of helping the producer out there without alot of money to bring those beats to life.. Enjoy and give the man props for showing love!! RomeoProductionz
