its a tribute to the RAF planes that won the battle of britain, having a messerschmit turn up would be like the queen going to a strip club and performing....
Fantastic! My all time fav's, i would never get tired of seeing this vid. Missed them at Sunderland this year too Foggy to fly, but Spitfire and Hurricane did a fly by, the Lanc was out of service. Coulnt see them but you would know those engines anywhere!
This video was a wonderful reminder of the airplanes AND the men, now so few in number, who helped to change the course of Western Civilization that summer of 1940, while I was about to be a schoolboy in Chicago, safe from terror from the skies. For your viewers, it is still possible to fly in a Spitfire. Check out Bill Greenwood of Aspen, Colorado and a Spitfire Mark 9TF. And a salute to the gallant RAF!
WOW! The uK has a lancaster! Never heard of them until the Airshow in the states some 12 years ago or so when Canada flew her only one on in. The biggest bomber in the European theatre, believe it or not!
Yes Simpson, it is. :-) There is one other that is allowed to taxi down the runway, but not take off. Does anyone know why they can't get that one airworthy again? And are there any others that could be restored?
The one that taxis at East Kirkby in Lincolnshire would be too expensive to get airworthy again. So it just goes up and down the runway, they do have a Spitfire there though I think and that flies.
Yes, we were going to fly her over to participate in the above airshow but the curator practicall hit the roof when i suggested it. I am personally the fan of a nice big radial firing up.
per documentary on the battle, the spits & hurricanes had less than 4 min to reach from ground to flight fighting level, am wondering if this was ever achieved during this event.
the only time i would want to see a messerschmidt at one of these performances is going down over the channel in flames

I believe it's only one of two left in the world that are still airworthy. And yes, it lives in the UK.

The other one I believe is in Canada.

A shame they can't afford to get it back into the air...one day perhaps.

The RAF own all the planes in the BBMF as it's a RAF Flight. All the pilot's and Ground Crew are RAF personnel
