  • Good luck, but you should have gone in depth with your issues.

  • Hi, Very interesting video, can I ask how you got on with your action !, was land rover not at this point sold & built in India, ?, I recall a number of issues with this as documented in UK Documentation & news items, which I think were around the same dates as your video... would like to know more.. no particular reason.. just interested, all the best.

    Thom in Scotland.

  • So I've read in some of the responses that you won. What ended up happening with this case??? What did people end up getting out of it???

  • Good luck with your law suit, you are only wasting your time.

  • @1998disco72

Well, too bad I'm not...I won my case.....and I'm helping others too. Thanks for playing

  • @landroverlawsuit

could you please email me I am having the same exact problems with my landrover and need some serious justice done. it makes no sense to me why this vehicle was ever placed in the car industry, oh yeah to suck the buyer dry. pleeeaaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeeeee HELP!

  • We are having issues with ours too. I had it in the shop almost every 50 miles since I bought the thing, and have numerous service tickets which pretty much list the same things going bad over and over again. We currently have an orange gunk building in the coolant reservoir and the car has accelerated out of control several times in the past with a problem that exists in the cruise control (which enabled to a speed in excess of 95+ mph before finally allowing me to decelerate). I'm in!

  • Freelander engine problems are my current reality. I'm an american expat working in the middle east. I bought a used 2001 Freelander to get around. After two months of use the engine completely siezed. I'm currently having getting a rebuilt engine installed for a substantial sum. Does anyone know if these lawsuits apply to Freelanders beyond their warranty period? What regions of the world do these lawsuits apply to? Thanks in advance.

  • @ouodi Advice? Two words: Land, and Cruiser! My 1st truck was a Nissan & that plus it's a POS and a dealer telling me they wouldn't work on it (it was an 87, same all the way up to 95? It was 1996-00ish) b/c it was too old, lead me to a 22RE powered Toyota.

Look at JAPANESE made Toyota's and you'll never need another more reliable truck, b/c there isn't one.

  • would only come from a fucking yank

  • Range rovers are a bit sketchy, especially the v8 one, but the supercharged version for some reason has little to no problems

  • Range rover supercharged and autobiography have very few problems especially if you get the diesel

  • Have you made any progress with this? I'm presently attempting to help a family member who is going through the same kind of hassle as well.

  • Look, if you want to get rid of that disco, I would take it off your hands mate, oh wait, I already have 12! They are not shit,no other car in the world can even come close to being as good as a Land Rover. The new ones aren't to good but the LR was designed originally as a alltime offroad vehicle. One of me mates Disco's has 465,000 mile and the clock and stull going, he has never replaced anything. I am sick of you bloody Americans b/c none of you know how to take care of a Land Rover.

  • @96roverp38 Yes, Land Rovers are bulletproof and have always stood as a standard of high build quality and reliability....which is why the FREELANDERS built in the early 2000's are such a travesty. I've been researching them online for my sister (Owner of a 2004 with only 50,000 light-duty miles on it) who's having major engine issues with it. I'm finding out that almost ALL the V6 models tend to crap out around 50-90K miles due to block warpage, leaking headgaskets, etc.

  • @96roverp38 The problem is the LR dealerships in the US, they promote the vehicles as luxury. I am in the US and have owned five Disco's from DI to the D2 they are so simple to work on. Parts are easy to find if you know where to look. Never ever ever take your LR to a dealer unless it is still under warranty or if there is a recall. They will tell you such horror stories you will fall for their bull shit. This is a truck not meant for everyone just saying. I think that they are very reliable.

  • People can criticize this woman for wanting to file a suit, but Land Rovers are just a pile of shit surrounded by metal. I know because I own a Discovery, and despite the amazing off road performance (I don't do any major climbing) this thing falls to pieces every fucking day. I have spent $6500 on this car in two years and want to get rid of it badly, but cannot afford to after all I've sunk into it. DO NOT BUY A LAND ROVER

  • Look, this is to the landrover lawsuit lady, GET A BLOODY LIFE! a hve been reading your post and may I say you are very ignorant. If you want to sue Land Rover, you are out of your fuckin mind. Excuse me french but I as an experienced mechanic know how much the freelanders suck. The company did over 100 recalls and it is your dumbass fault for not taken the truck in. I have 2003 Freelander and its got 230,000 on the clock and the onlything that has ever gone wrong was the bloody oil pan.

  • @96roverp38

hey, guess what, I won my lawsuit against them......so, excuse MY french, but you are a jackass......I have more MASTER MECHANIC testimony on the many, many problems (not just an oi pan). Go somewhere else and spew your stupidity.

  • @96roverp38 I have a 2002 and it is a fucking pile of shit!!! Fucking hunk of junk, and I am so fucking pissed about my truck that if I seen you I would spit in your face cunt!! I hate this fucking pile of shit, as soon as I take my foot off the gas it feels like I hit the breaks, and sometimes I hit the gas and it wont go anywhere, and then BOOOM it jerks with a bang like wtf!!!!!

  • @96roverp38

Hey loser, I have a life, with more money now, in fact...I won, I won, I won......and so many others have too....go away :)

  • Oh by the way lady, I own 12 Land Rovers and a shop, the only people who ever complain are the dumbasses that donot maintain there vehicle in a good condition. Oh and by the way, like I always say, dont expect to have an expensive car without having expensive parts. And if you think just British cars are unreliable, you have obviously never owned a Italian car like Ferrari and a Lamborghini, are you going to sue them too?

  • Look lady, are you just mad that american cars are shit and being made of plastic. Land Rovers are still being made the old fashion way out of steel. Say what ever the fuck you want but just so you know, a 2003 Land Rover Discovery saved my parents life so why dont you just shut the hell up and get you fucking facts straight.

  • @96roverp38 UR an awfully mean SOB.

  • I work for a shop that specializes in english vehicles and you are so right. Their products are generally unreliable, and very poorly designed and built. We see several Freelanders a year with leaking cylinder head gaskets being the most common problem. After the customer gets the estimate the repo man usually shows up for the vehicle a couple of months later, very few people elect to repair these turds. The chinless wonders mean well but they are just unable to make a decent car.

  • im going to take a guess and say you are either divorced, or single. correct? No one would want to be near you too long...

  • I have a freelander 1.8 petrol had it from new and it's now done 124 thousand miles and the only thing that has ever gone wrong with it the Rear window stopped going up and down, 48 quid to fix, if you go online you can find thousands of forums bitching about every car ever made, landys are no worse or better than any other car maker. I have always had them and found the to be very good cars, no one ever goes online and joins a forum to tell everyone how reliable there car is. Funny that.

  • I think you should calm down. Obviously you don't know the company. If you did, you would know that these cars are not reliable. I am a huge fan of Rangerovers. We have had a 99 Rangerover HSE, with tons of problems. Then we had and 05, tons of problems. And still to this day, we have learned how to treat a landrover right. So now, we have a 2010 Rangerover sport. Not a single problem at 25k miles. Landrover saved my familys lives. Rolled the 99 over twice in the snow. Stitches. Only 4. We walk

  • you are a woman you just dont maintenance your vehicle like you do your man :)

  • freelanders have always been rubbish , even here in england they have been rubbish ,falling apart badly built and unreliable

  • Hi, I just emailed you....I have an 03 freelander HSE with so many frickin problems I am sure you can imagine. It has been in the shop 6 times within 4 months trying to figure out why my freelander dies while driving - which can be deadly...I do not trust my car to not get me stranded. It just died in an intersection while i was driving my family home 3 nights ago. I would love to be a part of a class action lawsuit....I can't in good faith sell this car to anyone...and I can't drive it.

  • Justice must be pursued, thank you.

  • Can some of you do me a favor? If you are coming here to criticize or call me dumb, just go away. This is to help people. It's been two years and over 2000 people are now involved in this. It's very clear after working with a master mechanic and many industry professionals, that we, as a group, are not stupid, or whiny, we were misinformed and we have joined together to help one another.

Instead of criticizing, why don't you do something worth while?

Your ignorance will not be tolerated.

  • @landroverlawsuit Have you made any progress in this yet?

  • you sound like a clever woman so explain this too me every year land rover builds 100,000 discovery and range rover sport vehicles and the 2011MY will be better yet but out of that 100,000 about 40,000 goes to the U.S.A surely if they were that bad you wouldn't buy them. now i will be honest the freelander was the worst vehicle ever produced in the history of the company and i understand your anger i also am not familiar with landrover U.S i was to understand that it took care of its customers

  • @DuDz247 Hahaha...if you mean tell me with a straight face that being on my 3rd engine at 40K miles is normal. What I have been through, should be on 20/20...what a great idea!

  • I understand your pain. I have spent way too much in the last couple years trying to keep my freelander running. I have a personal certified land rover mechanic that tells me the real truth about how land rover never should have made this particular model. I am interested in information on your lawsuit please. i would love to have back the 4-5 thousand dollars i wasted. Thanks

  • Listen, i work for land rover U.K, and i agree the freelander is not the most reliable car in the world, i am interested to know which freelander you have we had problems with the 1.8 in the u.k also i must add landrover has one of the best dealer networks of any car maker in the world and you can be unlucky with any car you buy landrover as a whole builds a quality premium product and i suggest you save up and buy a proper landrover like the discovery or the range rover. thanx

  • @DuDz247 -

Listen, good for you.......thanks for the 'save up' advice too....but slowly but surely LR is paying out lawsuits here b/c it's not just a few bad vehicles......it's almost all of them. Now, while you are busy blowing your own horn over there in the UK.....we are having fun taking down one of the worst dealer networks in America. LR USED to be a good car....now they are all overpriced hunks of plastic.....Thanks for your input though, it means absoulutely nothing.

  • @DuDz247 Well from your spelling and grammar mistakes I can see why Land Rover makes such top quality motors...

  • @meatloaf666999 From how you look i bet you work in burger king ...

  • @DuDz247 I am once again floored with how incapable you are of constructing the most basic sentences.

You are a shining example of how little to no education can still land you a job at Land Rover...

  • @DuDz247 or we can all do ourselves a favor and not buy land rovers junk. overpriced garbage of vehicles that cost an ass load to get serviced. as far as that pos s/c range i had, worst decision of my life. took that piece back to the dealer and raised mortal hell. everything was regarded under warranty and fixed. as soon as it was fixed, she got traded in for an 09 highlander. no problems at all with my yota. could never say the same for land rover

  • @DuDz247 Land Rover has never made a decent motor, not in the last 25 years that I can remember. Land Rover licensed the old Buick 215 motor that GM decided to retire, then instead of using cast-in liners as per original GM design they decided to use pressed-in liners. Sure enough, they were dropping liners left and right, like cheerleader drop their panties on prom night, lol. As far as I am concerned the freelander engines are an even worse pile of junk than the old v8.

  • @juhateuvonnen yes, they do drop their liners like a cheerleader's panties but its the owner that takes it up the wazoo.

  • @DuDz247 When you own one of these pieces of Junk, then we'll talk! I have been living an absolute nightmare! My 05 Freelander breaks down every 2-3 months costing thousands of dollard EVERYTIME. By the time my car reached 40K miles it was on it's 3rd engine! Find me a sane person that believes that isn't unlawful and downright unethical. I call Landrover North America and can't believe they have the NERVE to act like that's no big deal.

  • The problem with Landrovers is that Ford introduced alot of cost cutting measures to make LR profitable again, this made things worse because LR was owned by Rover Cars Ltd beforehand who were strapped for cash also and did the same thing... double trouble, they should get better now though that they have their own free reign under Tata, and arent being spoiled by greedy ford

  • They were same as the escape and mazda triubute...do those models have the same amount of issues?

  • I think that we are in the same boat. I plan to have an investigative reporter do an expose on this company. I've contacted the media and filed a complaint with the State organization that issues their license to do business in the State of California. Let me know what I can do to help

  • @Darwinb I would be OVER JOYED to take part in that! I was on my third engine at 40k miles and tha is only the begining, I have been stranded in the rain, snow, and 30 degrees with no heat AND 2 babies in the car. I have been through 2 pregnancies breathing in coolant fumes over and over again

  • @Dnichoel Ok, Ma'm, I have worked on Rovers, Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, and even Pagani Zonda's, for 10 years and i have never heard of someone on there third engine. You obviously do not know how to take care of a vehicle. I will admit Land Rovers do have problems but that ma'm is outrageous and you are running that truck either very hard, or you are not keeping up with your maintenances. I am not trying to get any attitude with you mate.

  • Has anything ever become of this?

  • maybe you should try to include the land rover discovery 2 from 03-04 they had an oil pump flaw that was from the factory and they knew the flaw march 14 2003 so early enough that they could have fixed it. yes i do own one and love it but this isa big problem wiht them and a lot of people are in the same problem as you are.

  • Tell ya another tid bit of info...

I thought a monopoly on anything was against the law in the US?

Strange, LR must not have got that memo... B/c the only place I know where you can get parts and service on those epic P'sOS is at the dealer?

hmmm... Not that I would EVER consider buying one to start with... I'm sure they're the "Chevy" over where they come from, but they are utter shit here. Do yourself a favor and NEVER buy one.

  • Thats not true at all. In fact I would wager my house you have never even googled this issue because if you had, you would've found Atlantic British, DAP, EastCoast Rover, and Pacific British.

As far as the freeloader goes, this is not an LR vehicle. It is a Ford with an LR logo on it.

I own 3 LR's, each has more than 200,000 miles on them. You can blame the gun, or the person holding that gun.

  • @F0ckUtoob ok mate, here in england, they are not considered the "chevy". They are the vehicles that only rich people, enthusiasts, or the military uses. Oh and another wee but of information, every military force around the world except the U.S uses Land Rover. They are the vehicle of choice. They are the best and certainly a million times reliable than a humvee. Me mate at the american base here in England says hey much rather use a Land Rover than the humvee b/c they are always breakin down.

  • also people who are leaving comments dont be an idiot and understand what she is trying to say what would you do if you go and buy a hummer and it couses you problem like the rover and no warranty couse these freelander parts has a no different price tag then the hummer parts but there is a alot of freelander owner made a site regarding to this issue

  • i understand what you are going thrue i bought a freelander with a head gasget blown from the auction intension of driving but after i read thousands of comments the car is up for a sale its a shame that landrover has hired a backyard engineered to desigh the engine componant anyway after all these comments i believe no one is dumm to buy a landrover or a freelander couse i wont and everyone i know wont.

  • I have owned a 2002 Freelander with a BMW TD4 Diesel engine for 3 years. Apart from ususal maintainence this vehicle has been excellent. 39 mpg on a country running. Excellent handling, heaps of storage, comfy supportive seats, excellent tow vehicle. Just dont buy a pertol engined one prior to 2008.(Freelander 2) The post 2002 ones with Diesel engines are great.

  • im sorry but if you want people to help you with your law suit stop insulting evrbody who messages you maybe you should spend some money and get a lawyer instead of blogging a sob story on here .........but to be fair freelanders have a verybad crash test rating and once either fixed or got rid of get a hummer they have miles of crumple zones

  • I have a lawyer thanks..and I don't go to your page and tell you what to do, so don't come to mine......

This page is meant to inform and get people involved (which is over 400 now - I know, need to update my video)

If you've never had problems...good for you....but many of us bought these cars their first year in America and had NO idea that they were Landrovers quick fix to get into the small SUV market. We, the consumers were unfortunately the victims of their experiment gone to shit.

  • @cal993 Get a hummer?? are you stupid?

  • Don't buy motor from Rockbound Rover. Sounded to good to be true. Took me for 4600 buck...

    Abe

  • People need to start suing the Koreans{Hyundai and Kia}too. But nobody seems to want to do that...........because they're too distracted by the 10 year/100,000 mile warranty.

  • Sure it might be a pathetic piece of equipment. But it has the pompous brand name. That is why you bought the car isn't it? For the label.

  • No jackass.......it isn't

  • Ok fine. Then why did you buy it?

  • Typical liberal, btw.....

After a bad car accident where my car folded like an aluminum can, I was told that they had a sturdy frame and with the amount of driving that I used to do, I figured a heavier car was worth the lower gas mileage (wait, I'll give you a minute to hug a tree or something).....So, if you wouldn't mind Lefty, go pass judgement on some other people. K-thanks-bye

  • Oh....and speaking of labels....

Hi Pot, have you met my friend, Kettle????

  • i love my land rover

  • good for you.....

  • btw the freelander is still sold as the LR2 in the US although its a completely different car that was partially developed by ford as they owned land rover at the time. and i am in no way supporting this lawsuit as land rover are in enough financial trouble as it is and other than the first freelander they have always made excellent cars, like my discovery tdi. never left me stranded on the side of the road super reliable engine its just non essential things that fail, which gives it character

  • we don't need your support, but happy driving

  • haha you didn't do your research when the original freelander was released they had 132 serious faults and land rover knew it, but they needed the sales. this was quickly found out by the media but this did not stop the freelander being the highest selling 4x4 in britian from 1997-2005. it also got exellent reviews from the press other than the faults. later models were better so if you had a 2002 you were far better off than somebody that bought one in 1997.

  • hahaa....? what are you some kind of massochistic moron? I don't care what you think....

NOW this information is published...but in 2002 IT WAS NOT and the internet wasn't nearly as accessible as it is today. So don't act all self-righteous and all-knowing just because you're capable of a 'Google-search' . So please take your mindless commentary and stupid screen name and drive somewhere with your wonderful car. Cheers

  • not all landrovers are crap, i have a defender that has done 265k with no problems and no parts replaced, i agree you bought a crap model, its a freelander, they have plastic engines

  • I hear you.., i had a 96 landcruiser it gave me nothing but touble, engine, transmisson you name it,I would have been better buying a sangyong musso!

  • tell that to landcruisers4life2

  • landcruiser is a toyota.....thanks for playing...... landrover......

  • 2002 Freelander how pathetic. Engine failure and transmission all before 60,000 miles. Land Rover North America did replace the engine only upon threatened suit but 2 months later the trans and so on. a lawsuit is indeed necessary as i have also spoken to land Rover mechanics and it is as if they knew they were selling lemons all along.

  • get you a Land Cruiser and you will never have problems and you will not die because you are riding in the best built vehicle in the world, the rovers are garbage and I feel sorry for you for buying one, good luck with your quest

  • @landcruisers4life2 Mate, you are right, those landcruiser last forever and they are pretty good. But the only reason the landcruiser was built for was the desert. A Land Rover can go anywhere. And dont try and tell me it is not true b/c one of me best mate's participated in the 1987 Land Rover Camel Trophy. That Land Rover to this day is still on the road with 560,000 on the clock. old Landies last forever but the new ones are not as legendary as the original ones

  • what is the status of your quest?

i just bought a used 2002 freelander drove for 2 weeks and now sitting in my garage with a dead engine. i will be dismanteling this piece of krap as soon as i get a chance, but just like you it was too late for me by the time i've been informed on how horrible this vehicle is, now i have about $6000 worth of repair to do and lucky if i can sell it for that amount.

  • Good luck with getting an angine!! My 03 Freelander had 41,000 miles the FIRST time it needed an engine! 6 months later it need ANITHER new engine. No engines are availabel here or in Europe rhe last I checked. Land Rover NA won't help you either

  • ha ha I drive a Toyota......?

WEll, I'll update my video with the details......

But I guess we know how you'll die.....ChipsNPizza.....lol

  • I can sympathize with your situation. My 2003 Range Rover has been in and out of the shop for TWO years. The Land Rover Corporate offices and their local service shops could care less. I have been fighting to get my car in working order for the past year. Its a shame that they can charge so much to make a nice luxury car that runs like shit. Amazing. They are liars, crooks, and a disgrace.

  • Ha ha I drive a Toyota.

You didn't specify how the car nearly "killed you" 4 times.

  • That's why the new LR2 has a Volvo engine...lol

Why did you buy it in the first place? Did you do any research? I've LEASED a few Rovers over the years...and I'm glad that they are always under warranty. My daughter wanted a Freelander for her first car, but I was scared of it from the start. I went into the shop at the dealership, and that's all that was in there. (and yet I got a Range Rover). But it's been good.

  • Well, unfortanetly, I bought a 2002 and like many people, in fact most, your engine doesn't fail until 40-50k miles or so...so, we found our a couple of years too late....so it's not like I was a dumb consumer. It doesn't matter regardless, they are getting their asses handed to them one way or another.

  • hi, i join you whit your crusade agaisnt land rover criminals and i think i now the best lawyer, to represent us.

  • Every LR dealer knows the freelander is junk.. They dont want to touch them and if they do it's always.. You need a new engine or new transmission !! and it'll cost you more than the car is worth.. If you have the K6 2.5 engine.. Pray every day that it keeps going...

  • Freelanders are shit. For the same useless tits that normally drive minivans. Steph's right, buy a Disco or a LR3.

  • freelander is a cancer .... just like all americans cars so u should be used to it

  • ...Actually, the Freelander I bought was built before Ford owned it...when it was a UK company.....it's the model. I've owned Fords, Chevy's, and GMC and they have NEVER been shit like this.

  • Hi Bridget I worked for a Land Rover Dealer for appox 5 years . And yes you are correct, these cars are the worst things I have ever worked on in my 30 years as a professional ASE certified master technician. They have issues with head gaskets, transmissions, heater cores.emission related parts such crankcase breather tubes, air flow meters, igniton coils, injectors leaking fuel, shifter assemblies, and so on Oh yeah, great piece of engineering! .

  • We are with 100%. We have a 2002 S Freelander and have had problems the whole time. The car has been in the shop off and on for the past 2.5 years. We have had the engine replaced under warranty in 2007 and had more problems since then but LNAM has said it is our problem and now the warranty is out! We have to get the engine replaced again! I hope we can get a suit together we just paid off the remaining $10 grand in July!

  • I am sooooo down with you!!! mine sucks and is on its last leg I owe 10,500$ on it still!

  • You quite beautiful.

Just thought I would mention that. ;)

  • I agree I am currently with a dead freelander and am told I need to pay for a total new engine.

  • Hi, what model is your freelander pls??

  • I am a Freelander owner and have personal testimonies, repair bills and EBAY members trying to sell these vehicles with these problems.

I have contacted the Ohio Attorney General Marc Dan's and requested he review The Landrover NA for not disclosing or recalling their transmission problems despite Landrover NA's position on this vehicle.

I urge you to do the same.

    Thanks,

  • post more vids

  • hi landroverlawsuit,

i know exactly what you mean, i bought a 2000 xei model, its the 1.8 engine model, i had the car on finance and about 7 weeks after i bought the car the head gasket went, (well thats what 2 seperate garages told me) so i booked the car in on the warranty to get it fixed, only to get a phone call from the garage to say that it was not the head gasket it was the actual head that was cracked,

  • you should post more videos to blog on your experience and progress with this

  • i work for land rover and i know exactly what you are talking about. the freelander is junk!

    P.S. you are hot!

  • Thank you and Thank you!
