Most smaller departments are so rural that by the time the call comes inand the engine gets on scene there's too much damage to go in and try to save the building. It's not why we do it. We do it to make sure the house next door doesn't catch fire, or the woods out back leading to the house down the road. Remember that it's a waste of tax dollars when the house next door to you catches fire.

@MrJakemoffitt you are really dumb...that is a old ass barn and its problay full of dry ass hay so no matter what any fire dept. in the world tryed the odds are that its going to burn down anyways... trust me my best friends barns caught fire 2 years ago. lucky for her family it was my stations drill night and they nodiced it when the fire was fairly small...i was on the second truck in and both hay barns were fully involved and it was in roughly 10 to 15 after the fire started

I think most people like myself that want to be a firefighter should just ask someone a firefighter im lucky cause my cousin is a firefighter so i ask him about a million questions and he has told me what to expect if i want to be a firefighter volunteer and full time.
