TYT just does not get it, i ask now that after the Stimulus there has been no boost to the economy. Why is that Solyndra got 500 mil from the tax payers and within a year going bankrupt.
Strange how a huge portion of the "stimulus" funds went to those entities I mentioned
earlier and to State governments who then used it to keep present union employees paid and working with very little if any new job creation in the private sector. Wisconsin's previous Democratic governor used most of the stimulus money his state recieved to help balance the state budget rather than try to cut costs like present governor Walker is doing. Unions and big business control the Dems.
Though nearly 8 million private sector jobs have been shed in the last 36 months—roughly 5 percent of the U.S. workforce — public employee ranks grew to record levels in 2010, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics figures. Current projections show an increase of 126,000 jobs since the recession began. We can't all work or rely on the government for our income, one need only to look to the failing European countries to see that.
The 20 next largest sources of campaign contributions to the Obama Campaign, 11 were Investment Banks or International Law firms directly tied to the financial industry also Wall Street ie; Goldman Sachs, UBS, CitiGroup, Lehman Brothers, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan. Any of these names sound familar ?
The NEA was the single largest contributor to O's campaign. At $56.2 million in campaign contributions. Not far behind were the "Service Employees International Union" (SEIU) and the "American Federation of State, County and Munincipal Employees" which contributed a combined $46 million.
@SuperCrescentFresh I believe in a flat tax, as Forbes has always talked about. That is the fairest possible approach. Everyone pays 15% (or some other figure), no matter what they earn. Period. Penalizing people because they are clever enough and work hard enough to earn more, and giving it away to people who for one reason or another (sometimes legitimate, often not) out of some foolish "Robin Hood' idealism is a terrible policy. AND IT NEVERWORKS.
@SuperCrescentFresh "But they don't pay the same percentage, they pay less". Where did you get THAT factoid?
You are just spewing back the class warfare rhetoric of the Left. Taxing to death the "rich" in order to make everything "equal" never has worked, and never will.
If the top 30% of society can be classified as "rich", then call me a Rockefeller, because I'm in that category. And let me tell you, I sure as hell do not FEEL rich, and I would NEVER classify myself that way.
@SuperCrescentFresh Welfare creates a cycle of dependency. No, not all are moochers. There are truly needy persons. But there are also abuses - far too many if you ask me.
When it finally crash-crashes, it's going to be so very sad for those who already struggle. And it is very likely that the poor will eventually feel no other recourse but to turn to extreme measures for basic survival. Stealing food to survive isn't amoral. Stop judging your neighbour on his/her politics; the banks don't care, neither should you. Unite and you can fix this.

ther is no such thing as a rich person paying tax's
only the consumer that buys product from the rich person or business pays all the tax's in this country and if you raise tax's on the big evil corp america the ones that suffer are the consumers that have to pay the price hike on the product to cover the cost of higher tax's or the jobs lost to cover the cost of higher tax;s
I think that the fact is our creepy politicians are ignoring what is recognized as THE GENESIS OF THE FINANCIAL MELTDOWN, THE EXPLOSION OF THE HOUSING BUBBLE. All of that stinky paper that screwed up the financial markets would still be good if there was not a HUGE EXPLOSION OF THE HOUSING BUBBLE. Greedy Ameritards bought houses they could not afford and lots of other junk. Time to start at the beginning and liquidate Fannie and Freddie!
As I expressed in a video of my own, Financial reform, with 3 main components, is championed by democrats. Republicans DO have a response to each of these parts of a possible bill.
Poor people have no money and no jobs. What can you do? Seize their assets? The poor have no assets! That's class warfare! Why penalize class? Poor should be taxed and pay for healthcare? Hey Democrats we didn't need reform. The federal government is not too big to fail. Get rid of federal government. We don't need it.
Financial reform for the benefit of the rich. The greedy rich will simply continue to enrich themselves. It's just more Marxist class warfare. Now that the middle class has colapsed the rich can pay all the taxes. Unemployment is high because we the people refuse to work for Obama.
@mistara31415 An please don't try to redefine what a tax cut is, it makes you seem intellectually dishonest. A tax cut is a tax cut, period.
The bottom line is: the kind of trickle-down economics you espouse - and has been espoused by every American president, Democrat or Republican, since Ronald Reagan - has failed to bring sustained prosperity to the American people. The sooner you realize this, the sooner you can contribute with something useful to the current political debate.
@mistara31415 Like I said above, your 'points'or ideas lack any kind of factual backing and are more ideological than they are grounded in reality. They're wishful thinking. Also, the premises of your argument are incorrect: poor people in general don't 'seem like free-loaders' to me, nor to the majority of the population - otherwise social programs would have been eradicated many decades ago.
@mistara31415 I appreciate the time you took writing down your refreshing new ideas and sharing them with me.
I like to base my own ideas on reality. The Bush tax cuts were bases on the same philosophy that you espouse, and they failed to help America and America's poor in any way, shape or form. That alone should have given you a clue as to who is on the wrong on this issue.
Real financial reform would require that money be real. Bankers and politicians wouldn't be in our lives so much if it weren't for the fact that they create money from thin air and then charge real interest on it.
Hopefully, in the future, history reports the rampant lying that happens in our political system today. And I hope there is an extra chapter on how particularly vile the Republicans were.
Republicans want: No social security No public education No regulated banking No medicare No healthcare No regs. for Wall Street No Regs. for insurance No tax to the rich who make wealth by plunder of the poor No regs. of private business, all free trade Republicans want: All plunder, extortion, scam, feudalism, anarchy and capitalism for crooks and criminals...
@fumiohuang Very true, Republican financial reform is such a joke, the only thing I favor in their bill is the auditing of the federal reserve, while Dems do not for some reason.... Regardless, Obama wouldn't have been so tough on Goldsman Sachs if they weren't caught cheating. They're not sorry for what they did, they're sorry they got caught.
The red vs blue game in America has become a joke to the rest of the world. Even people in this nation are waking up to the fact that it's all fake. Enslavement by division.
I'm fucking livid , Brown got elected by the Tea party in Ma, !! I can't believe Cenk was capable of pulling that kind of shit out of his ass, he had to dig real deep to pull that shit out, What pisses me off more than anything is that we don't have to lie about the Republicans , speaking the truth is sufficient, every one knows they are a criminal an corrupt lot, exaggerating and lying about it hurts your credibility.furthermore is an exercise in futility.
@xp19375 "forcing banks to give loans to people that can't pay them back."
lol, what planet are you on? No one FORCED them, they were more than happy to look the other way and make risky loans while it made them money. If it were possible to FORCE them everyone would still be getting easy loans.
When will you and your RW playmates start holding private financial institutions responsible for their own actions?
The Community Reinvestment Act (1977) compels banks to make loans to low-income borrowers and in what the supporters of the Act call "communities of color" that they might not otherwise make based on purely economic criteria.
Google "banks forced to make bad loans" and follow the third link.
These banks would have been punished if we had not bailed them out. The punishment is going out of business.
@xp19375 The raft of bad loans that screwed our economy were made after 2000, not before. Guess the financial institutions just weren't interested in complying with that 1977 Act until then, huh?
FWIW, I agree with you that no business should be allowed to get "too big to fail".
It was actually when ACORN et. al. sued Citibank under the Community Reinvestment Act, arguing that Citibank was not making those loans because of the borrowers' race, since many of the poor wanting loans were of ethnic minorities. Citibank argued that denying these loans was based on purely economic factors. The court decided against Citibank, so they had to start giving out those loans. All this happened in the mid 1990's.
@xp19375 Actually this was a class-action lawsuit brought in 1994 when Citibank was caught "redlining" - refusing loans to minority applicants while approving them to white applicants with similar financial characteristics and credit histories. And Citibank settled out of court.
Next you'll be telling me Obama filed the lawsuit.
Cenk is lying , Fuck we had Palin and the tea party here last week, that bitch is lucky didn't get tar and feather!! Cenk even said it himself 2,000 people here in Boston is nothing !! Now the tea party elected Brown in Mass.? fucking liar ,We are a Democratic state, I don't like Brown, however all this shit is political maneuvering, all the politicians sucking up to the big donors.Brown is in the drivers sit now and the motherfucker is going to milk it.
@usaleftistsareidiots Where do you get this nonsense: "the rich feed you..."? Of all of the GOP/turd blossum PR created talking points, this one is the very ultimate in absurdity. No one with half a marble rattling around in their noggin would even repeat it.
@usaleftistsareidiots Actually the ultra rich take their accounts offshore (they're not dumb you know). So, I'd say the upper middle class & lower upper class gets screwed over with taxes.
@TayGizzle Republicans and Democrats both stand for Big Government, which costs big money, which leads to inflation, which hurts the poor and fixed incomes hardest, so both major parties are anti-poor, anti-working class.
@GJNCA I guess that they will have to do the same things that people did before any of those programs were instituted. Save money. Don't make unnecessary purchases. Work hard. Help family and friends when they need it. Plenty of people did just fine before Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
the republicans do have an alternative pro-american proposal of letting the banks fail, deregulating the banks so theyl be healthier and more productive, ending government oversight of banks to allow them to work harder, and countless other ideas the american people overwhelmingly support. the liberal alternative is endless regulation, endless taxes, endless bailouts, and communism. if you dont want another economic crash, vote R
@tehant1liberal you are just as wrong.. we support LOGICAL regulation.. (when you play monopoly you have to play by the rules that make the game fair, otherwise it's not fun), sufficient taxes to pay off defecits, and NO MORE BAILOUTS, the communism thing was just stupid, grow up
everything you mentioned in your post was the rule of the land for the past 12 years (except for letting banks fail) and it ended with a collapse.
FDR and Joe Kennedy regulated the banks and wall street and it was sound and stable up until 1998 (?) when Glass/Stiegal was gutted, followed by Bush gutting the SEC.
The govt didn't loot my parents retirement funds, the banks did.
And if the banks were allowed to fail, NONE OF US would have any money.
Banks were always heavily regulated, and we also have Fannie & Freddie and the Fed. The collapse was because money was too easy to get and the banks loaned out that money to people who couldn't pay it back.
If the banks were allowed to fail, not all of them would. Besides, we still have the FDIC. We bailed out investment banks, not commercial banks.
There is no pro-american or con-american, cause American is a scale it have its up and down regardless of which president or congress do. Your ideal is pathetic and Obama is trying to punish Wall street for what they did for decades....
There's another joke out there bigger than the republican party and it's called the American public. Just wait until November when they live up to their joke designation and vote in a republican majority.
I have a way to solve it. pay the debt, cut back on entitlement programs, bring our troops home from countries like Germany, Korea, Malaysia, Japan, etc...
@dizzymasekela I still can't believe that fucking retarded male model was elected in my state. It makes me ashamed to be from MA. At least Mitt Romney, who I also despise, has some common sense and intelligence.
Brown used the Tebaggers to get into office, but I don't think he is in total agreement with them. He's going to backpedal, but do what his friends in the industries want in the end.
Hey at least he is honest. Like themessenger said. He hasnt learned the talking points yet so he basically has to give the real answer which is......I have no dam idea you tell me.
Lmao. Its becoming harder and harder for me to stay independent when I see no reason to vote or think republican. Why waste my time?
I support the Tea PArty but I gotta agree on this one, Dems have the Reps on the financial reform issue. The dems will probably mess it up worse but something has to be done. The dems forcing minority loans that were facilitated by the FEDs easy money and then packaged by wall street is how we got into this mess. No cheap money and forced loans no problem in the first place. The DEMS are still puching the bad loans to deadbeats
@bj4paul LMAO really? It's us who want to end Don't ask don't tell, it's us arguing for gay rights, it's us who fought for civil rights, it's us that want to use stem cell research, Closed Minded? STFU dude Your whole party is about christian values and family only when your leaders arent fucking the gay prostitute or cheating on their wives. FUCK YOU
@Kylestyle05 You are right the DEMS are about getting the people that cannot make it on thier own handouts and goevernemnt preferences. Ever since then the country has fallen into a state of decline. Congratulations keep up the good work !!
The country went into decline because of rampant abuse of the financial system by Wall Street. This started with the de-regulation of Reagan's "Reaganomics". Bush Sr. actually stalled this a bit but Clinton started it up again and it finally came to a head during the Bush administration when what little regulation was left was thrown out by the pro-free-market extremist neocons. Finally, a year before the end of Bush's final term it all imploded.
@bj4paul WOW you're funny. So Don't ask Don't Tell is a handout along with stem cell research and civil rights. Ok? Well I'll let you get back to your Klan Rally. Bigot.
@bj4paul can you tell me how the Repubs reconcile being so called "Christians" , with having such an uncharitable nature? Serious question. Please give a thoughtful answer.
@bj4paul You're information is bit off I think, I know what you're referencing but I believe it's been taken out of context of what is was meant for. The problem was the bankers, no one forced them to put out bad loans, they knew what they were doing then taking peoples homes. They were even receiving incentives to do this, that's what the act you're referring to did.. it provided incentives to loan more. Bankers took advantage of everything. Could be wrong, but its what I read in the bill.
@bj4paul Dems forcing bad loans? You are crazy. First off it was GW's idea that everyone in America ought to own a home. You probably don't remember that, or evan care since you are a Tea Partier....
@bj4paul When most people think of mortgage fraud, they think of a clever borrower conning an unwitting banker into extending him a loan he cannot afford. But this isnt really how fraud usually works in the mortgage business. According to the FBI, 80% of mortgage fraud is committed by the lender.
@lmcdowall The loans were NOT fraud, they were legimate loans that laweys reviewed prior to closing per the law. These loans were to high risk bowwers that put nothing down and had no credit, hence SUBPRIME. This was all courtesy of Bill Clinton and the Community Reinvestment Act. And if bnaks did not lend they would be sued by Jesse JAckson and Company.
@bj4paul Your beloved deregulated free market is what caused the crash. Textbook predatory lending across all mortgage lending activitiesissuing loans based on the value of the property, while ignoring the borrowers ability to repay the loan. Actually convincing the borrower that they can afford it and evan lying about adjustable rates.
I nearly choked when I cracked up over Cenks blank stare after reading Browns response to the question. That's the best blank stare I've seen in a very long time...loved it. Perfect timing as well for a big belly laugh.
Just another example of how ignorant the republican voters are. They went crazy of Brown's victory in MA but they don't know shit about what he stands for or what he has done in his political carrier. - If you vote republican you are voting against America
Probably they should find and bust the Republicans that blew up the world trade center and ran that war. Then they can go to a "pretend" Republican court every day where they can talk about it until they all croak. Then they go back to their cells then the next day they can do it again, and pretend they are getting away with it some more.
What is going on with the republicans lately? They're not even trying to cover up their bullshit now! They should've worked out a fake plan and handed it to all their people, so they could pretend they weren't just keeping reform from hurting their buddies' profits.
They don't need an alternative... their alternative is Boom-and-Bust.
It's The Republican Approach to many issues... don't fix something that isn't broken, but it's only broken if the Republicans don't make money out of it.
Why is Scott Brown such a big figure in the media? Why does the newly elected Congressman from Florida Ted Deutch not get more than 2 minutes on any news show? Is it because he's a Democrat? Is it because he didn't pose nude in a magazine? Is it because he doesn't drive a truck?
I don't care anymore about Scott Brown than any other Congressman, but the media just keeps pushing his agenda for him. From what I can tell the media just likes advocating the Republican talking points.
The only way that real financial reform is to have President Sarah Palin implement Palinomics! Palin has SUPERIOR understanding of our financial issues than Scott Brown and all of these worthless men in government today!
What the fuck is wrong with this guy? Are you suggesting that you should just shut up even though you know there's something wrong or it's gonna fail because you don't know how to fix it? Think before you open your mouth.
Scott Brown hasn't had time to learn the standard Republican smoke and mirrors bullshit answers. Give em a year and he'll be lying with the best of em.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
HAHA!
Scott Brown is not obligated to talk to ANYONE from that leftwing liberal rag Boston Globe. he basically told that smug liberal reporter to FUCK OFF, he just did it nicer than I would have.
@frictionRx5 wow!!! then you must be for the big banks bailouts like the republicans, answer me this why did you and the tea baggers march against big bank ba

only the consumer that buys product from the rich person or business pays all the tax's in this country and if you raise tax's on the big evil corp america the ones that suffer are the consumers that have to pay the price hike on the product to cover the cost of higher tax's or the jobs lost to cover the cost of higher tax;s

Sixth...cut the govt back to its size and function prior to 1850 (ie rolling back generations of Jesuit subversion of the nation).

As I expressed in a video of my own, Financial reform, with 3 main components, is championed by democrats. Republicans DO have a response to each of these parts of a possible bill.
electio538politicus 1 year ago

MarquisdeBarrabas 1 year ago
@mistara31415 Like I said above, your 'points'or ideas lack any kind of factual backing and are more ideological than they are grounded in reality. They're wishful thinking. Also, the premises of your argument are incorrect: poor people in general don't 'seem like free-loaders' to me, nor to the majority of the population - otherwise social programs would have been eradicated many decades ago.
MarquisdeBarrabas 1 year ago
@mistara31415 I appreciate the time you took writing down your refreshing new ideas and sharing them with me.
I like to base my own ideas on reality. The Bush tax cuts were bases on the same philosophy that you espouse, and they failed to help America and America's poor in any way, shape or form. That alone should have given you a clue as to who is on the wrong on this issue.
Take care.
MarquisdeBarrabas 1 year ago
@mistara31415 Do you actually believe in what you're saying, and if not - I'm assuming you're not an idiot - what makes you think I would?

Real financial reform would require that money be real. Bankers and politicians wouldn't be in our lives so much if it weren't for the fact that they create money from thin air and then charge real interest on it.

Here's an idea: When a big company goes broke, don't bail it out! There's a reason they have no money.
We should also stop securitizing mortgages and forcing banks to give loans to people that can't pay them back. We should also end the Fed.
xp19375 1 year ago
@xp19375 "forcing banks to give loans to people that can't pay them back."
lol, what planet are you on? No one FORCED them, they were more than happy to look the other way and make risky loans while it made them money. If it were possible to FORCE them everyone would still be getting easy loans.
When will you and your RW playmates start holding private financial institutions responsible for their own actions?
ismeme 1 year ago
@ismeme
The punishment is going out of business.
xp19375 1 year ago
@xp19375 The raft of bad loans that screwed our economy were made after 2000, not before. Guess the financial institutions just weren't interested in complying with that 1977 Act until then, huh?
FWIW, I agree with you that no business should be allowed to get "too big to fail".
ismeme 1 year ago
@ismeme
All this happened in the mid 1990's.
xp19375 1 year ago
@xp19375 Actually this was a class-action lawsuit brought in 1994 when Citibank was caught "redlining" - refusing loans to minority applicants while approving them to white applicants with similar financial characteristics and credit histories. And Citibank settled out of court.
Next you'll be telling me Obama filed the lawsuit.

everything you mentioned in your post was the rule of the land for the past 12 years (except for letting banks fail) and it ended with a collapse.
FDR and Joe Kennedy regulated the banks and wall street and it was sound and stable up until 1998 (?) when Glass/Stiegal was gutted, followed by Bush gutting the SEC.
The govt didn't loot my parents retirement funds, the banks did.
And if the banks were allowed to fail, NONE OF US would have any money.
eff you.
Blasphemer2 1 year ago
@Blasphemer2
Banks were always heavily regulated, and we also have Fannie & Freddie and the Fed. The collapse was because money was too easy to get and the banks loaned out that money to people who couldn't pay it back.
If the banks were allowed to fail, not all of them would. Besides, we still have the FDIC. We bailed out investment banks, not commercial banks.

bj4paul 1 year ago
The country went into decline because of rampant abuse of the financial system by Wall Street. This started with the de-regulation of Reagan's "Reaganomics". Bush Sr. actually stalled this a bit but Clinton started it up again and it finally came to a head during the Bush administration when what little regulation was left was thrown out by the pro-free-market extremist neocons. Finally, a year before the end of Bush's final term it all imploded.
It has absolutely nothing to do with welfare.

@bj4paul When most people think of mortgage fraud, they think of a clever borrower conning an unwitting banker into extending him a loan he cannot afford. But this isnt really how fraud usually works in the mortgage business. According to the FBI, 80% of mortgage fraud is committed by the lender.
lmcdowall 1 year ago 2
@lmcdowall The loans were NOT fraud, they were legimate loans that laweys reviewed prior to closing per the law. These loans were to high risk bowwers that put nothing down and had no credit, hence SUBPRIME. This was all courtesy of Bill Clinton and the Community Reinvestment Act. And if bnaks did not lend they would be sued by Jesse JAckson and Company.
