  • Wow, they are the same from Grand Island Senior High School. They look and sound alike. I wish I could make a video of the alarm from my school

  • wait...so it is only smokes that close the fire doors? That once happened at my school, i was sitting in the school caf (not lunch, it was advisory) and the fire doors closed and then the simplex truealerts started to sound, but apparently it was the smokes and not a pull. I have not, however been in the new wing (with the door holders) for a planned fire drill with a pull. so how does the fire door system work?

  • @owenhinton some smokes have a relay base on them...so when the smoke goes off the relay cuts power to the door holders making them close. Other times the door holders are tied into the main fire alarm and the fire alarm will cut the power making them close.

  • @ 6:42 entering the gym, it looks filmar (spelling?) i worked in a jail house similar to this gym, but the alarms are different than this one, for "Test" mode it does the "Whoop" tome instead of this tone.

  • If your wondering about the alarms, they are EST Genesis alarms

  • why is the security system going off? the fire alarm was not (it is a DSC alarm)

  • @firealarmfreak101 the DSC keypad is at the main entrance. They have 2 keypads. One for security of the whole school and the other is hooked up to the DVAC thats for the fire alarm. DVAC was indicating fire alarm thats why is was ringing!

  • didnt that place had an older edwards horn setup

  • One nice School

  • is that a shindler elevator

  • is that a timer? at 9:09 ??

  • @PolicexFirexEmsx actually its a multi-meter or a voltage meter.

  • i hate those

  • do you wear ear plugs when testing these things...I'd need them if I was

  • @peakster753 No I dont actually. I'm used to it...lol

  • You know, if they're going to install one on the ceiling, why don't they just get the ceiling mount version? Or are the ceiling mounts not available in red?

  • i dont get it. why did you put "Oh My"?

  • @102Help just because I could!

  • @102Help seems to me as if he was trying to put a little 'pizazz' to the title

  • At first I thought those were SpectrAlert Classics!

  • What brand and model number are those alarms? I've been wondering for a while

  • @raymond9987654321 G1R-HDVM

  • @ElevatorsandAlarms Oh nvm, I already found out that they are the EST Genesis horn/strobes a bit later.. Thanks anyway.

  • This got annoying on 9:02

  • I love how the doors shut in the beginning! The same thing happens in my school haha I was walking down the hallway, and the door was shutting, and like a second later, the fire alarm went off haha

  • @twoplyboy why is it the new thing to do code-3 i find that annoying.

  • @techhelper1 its what the NFPA wants. it also makes it a little easier to talk in when its going off.

  • @techhelper1 plus those genesi do them automatically unless you cut a jumper

  • Okey-Dokey.

  • Why the title of this is, "bell test oh my!"? The alarms aren't fire bells. Those are fire alarms. Not bells.

  • @NEVDAVS1970 you're too young to know why, it is called bell test.

  • @twoplyboy

some people call it "fire drill" like school go-ers

    other's call it bell test

some call it fire system test

    others call it evacuation rehearsal.

There's a whole dictionary that means doing what you did in the video.

    Great video by the way.

  • @DjZelfa thanks!

  • @twoplyboy Yeah.

I have a video of a fire drill during school, where set it off, and timed the evacuation time, and I ran thru campus with a camera clearing rooms..

It was much better than my usual job there..

  • Hehe I like thode doors closing at once. Are the magents supose to be disconnected until the alarm is reset though?

  • yeah

  • who close the doors?

  • They're automated...held open by magnets and when the alarm is activated the magnets loses its holding power

  • My apartment that I just moved from had strobe-less Gentex Commanders in it. That is the worst noise you ever want to hear when you forget its testing day...

  • the first hallway you come out of back into the main area.. do I hear a chime strobe?

  • I wouldnt be suprised.

  • WOW those genesises mustve ben tuckerd out after that long of a test!

  • all the dorms at my college have magnetic doors that automatically close when there's smoke (not when the alarm goes off, otherwise i'd be super mad at someone burning popcorn)

  • What school is this?

  • its a high school.

  • OMG sounds like my condo building.

The EST Genesis is pretty nice

  • I dont think thats my school but it could because @ 3:39 theres a broken exit sign

  • It is definitely not your school

  • Thats was cool just before the alarm went off when the doors shut lol I had that happen to me, happend exactly the same, though, I didnt' know they had somthing to do with the alarm system beacause I was wondering why they were shutting, but I found out soon after when the alarm went off lol

  • wow. i wish i had gone to a school that amazing.

  • Those doors closing was cool at the beginning

  • awesome video. was this at a high school or elementary school?

  • Nice building. Love the Mezzanine.

  • 0:15

i love how the doors close 1 by 1

  • What was that beeping in the background at the beginning? Was the panel piezo that loud?!

  • thats the security panel.

  • Was the alarm system also hooked up to the lights? It was dark until you set off the alarm then all the lights came on

  • no. not hooked up to the lights.

  • the "lights" you see is actually the camera's exposure changing from looking into the daylight behind those fire doors. once they close, there is less light so the camera turns up the brightness

  • why were all the doors able to be held open while the alarm is still going off?

  • The fire doors are only closed if an adjacent detector or other initiating device is activated- any other alarms do not close them. They can be controlled locally (through a detector relay base), or addressably (through a relay module) and are assigned to activate only when the initiating device(s) near that door activate.

  • I know, but if it's the detector that closed them in the first place, you'd think they wouldn't be able to be held open again until the detector resets when the system is reset.

  • When did the doors start sticking again?

  • yeah thats true...but the doors that closed are stairwell doors and not hallway doors....you dont want smoke going up the stairwell...

  • Do you mean the ones that STAYED closed? Because ALL the doors shut at first, but only 4 are to the stairwell.

  • well the once that stayed closed, were closed because the janitor closed them. he just finished waxing the floor and wanted no one to walk on them. I believe those doors are tied in to the "lockdown" system. They used the lockdown when something bad happens in the school and all the students and teachers are forced to look the class room down.

  • Oh, ok. Yeah, lockdown drills are mandatory here in NYS, so I'm familair with them. So the smoke was only tied to the stairwell doors?

  • yeah.

  • @twoplyboy do the doors close automatically? when the alarm is triggered?

  • @HalomasterA69 yes...all main entrance door holders in this school is connect to the fire alarm. common hall doors are connected to the smoke detector above the doors that have door holders.,

  • @twoplyboy awsome.

  • the gennesis was a smart choice in that kind of room. so much echo, i dont what to be there if they have GEC3 or trualers
